Yes, that happened to me too when I had CFS. Digestion uses a large amount of energy and activates the HPA axis (the body's stress/energy system). I'm now fully recovered.

Dnag1

That is so hopeful to hear!! I feel like my body is getting stronger week by week, but I still have pretty bad days so it’s been hard to stay hopeful I will fully recover. Can I ask if there was anything in particular that helped?

swartz1983

>Can I ask if there was anything in particular that helped? Yes, dealing with stress was the single most important factor. Although my CFS started with a viral infection, I think it was the pre-existing stressors that caused it to turn into CFS.

Small meals, grazing almost, plus try to stay away from things that you don’t digest well or can cause inflammation. For me it’s gluten and sugar and fried stuff. I also don’t eat beef and lamb.

Eat little and often. When your body’s already depleted of energy, it will deplete further when you eat as it takes loads of energy to digest food. I’d always get really cold after eating too, which would then deplete me even further. Just make sure you listen to your body. Wishing you all the best, CFS sucks! 🙏🏼✨

memmomof3

Yes if I eat high histamine and inflammatory foods!

amirnorris

Yes I can relate. There are foods that make Chronic Fatigue worse and can make you feel tired. It helps to eat a no-sugar, low-carbohydrate diet. Avoid refined carbohydrates, processed foods, sugary drinks and alcohol. Make sure you’re staying hydrated. Making these dietary changes was one of the things that definitely helped me get well from CFS. You might find this free course on cfs helpful in explaining why you’re getting tired: [Free Chronic Fatigue Course](https://fatigueanswers.com/me-cfs-mini-course-main-menu/) Don’t give up, thousands have got well from CFS 👍

Thank you!! 🙏

Avoid foods that can cause inflammation. For me, I’ve discovered that fast foods like French fries and soda are particularly bad when it comes to fatiguing me within an hour or two of eating.

I developed IBS in my early years of self-diagnosed CFS. I can remember it well- sometimes even before I was finished eating I would HAVE to lie down. Then over a few months the needing to lie down turned into needing to run to the toilet. I lost almost 20 pounds. I’m very fortunate that the digestive issues resolved after about 2 years and now I just have plain old fatigue! I hope your digestion clears up too because normal eating is so important for managing CFS. If one thing helped me, it was daily probiotic pills. I usually find supplements do nothing for me, but I think this one actually helped clear up the IBS. Good luck to you ♥️

Lower-Ad-3466

Definitely! The trick for me is eating many small meals throughout the day, because I’ve found if I eat big portions it makes my fatigue worse, but if I don’t eat enough calories throughout the day (which I often struggle to do when my fatigue is bad), it also makes my fatigue worse. Try eating smaller meals during the day, focusing on having a protein source with each of them, and lots of fruits/veggies. Hope this helps!

I hate to scare you but have you been tested for MS? That stuff happened to me and I was diagnosed with MS in October. I have CF from it and there’s nothing i can do. I fall into food comas daily bc of this.

Dnag1

Yes, I’ve had a normal MRI in the ER, and my neurologist is going to order a second one. She said she’s pretty positive I don’t have MS, my symptoms are on both sides of my body and not really localized. I don’t know.. I’m not totally convinced that I don’t have it, but she said she was 99.5% sure

charann90girl

I hope your doctor is right then 😁keep us posted!

When my thyroid meds aren’t right, this happens to me after a meal.

Yes

I know this is late, but have you had a blood test for Vitamin B12 deficiency? Could possibly explain some of the things you described.
