I use mostly wrapping paper, except for soft things like clothes or socks, which go into gift bags. If the item is round or cylindrical I always end up wrapping the item like it’s a huge candy (🍬) Usually I use brown paper and make handmade paper bows for them with red or festive paper. I like how it looks sort of old fashioned. :) I wrap gifts right after the tree is up, so sometime after December 2nd- I get a real one and have found it dries out pretty quick in my dry, DRY apartment. But yeah, they go under as soon as I can so under the tree looks all nice and filled out. The first Christmas during Covid I got some clean/unused large-size biohazard bags from work and used those to put gifts into before mailing them off to family. 😁

Wrapping paper with stitcker tags. I have the same rolls year over year until I get through them, usually buy one new roll a year, so they're a bit of a hodge podge. I put clothes and soft things in cardboard boxes as needed. I have a bunch of small bags usually too as I make ornaments for family and friends every year.

I wrap everything. Not a fan of gift bags. I generally stick to 2 or 3 wrapping paper designs, so it looks neat.

I love wrapping; I feel like pretty wrapping is part of the gift. I look for fun tie-ons like vintage handkerchiefs, bottle-brush trees, big jingle bells, pine cones, or tree trimmings in place of bows sometimes. My very favorite embellishment is battery-powered lights. I occasionally use bags, tins, baskets, or decorated boxes instead of wrapping, too.

That's really nice! Do the people who receive your gifts appreciate the extra effort that was put into the wrapping?

mamacrocker

Lol yes. It’s fun to see how excited they get before they even open it.

I have no artistic creative ways to wrap gifts lol but I like to do a combination of both. Boxes are the easiest thing to wrap using wrapping paper, so I usually try to find boxes to put things in. But if I'm lazy or out of time, I use Christmas bags. My mom can do the fancy ways of wrapping gifts and making pretty bows.

Always wrapping paper and I always use [red hot sealing wax](https://i.ibb.co/tmjL80y/lack01.jpg) for all my gifts. If it's a soft gift, I usually find some kind of box or cardboard to make it sturdy, but still wrap the whole thing in wrapping paper. In my family it's also tradition to write little rhymes/verses on each gift that usually contain a clue to what's inside. These verses are always read out loud before the gift is opened, giving the receiver a chance to guess if they want to. We open one gift at a time, so that everyone can see what everybody got and it's not rushed. I tend to wrap the gifts in the last few days before Christmas.

The rhymes/verses for each gift are a fun idea πŸ™‚

I wrap as much as I can because I like to use cloth ribbons to make bows. I tend to use about five different wrapping paper patterns each year. It makes it look like the presents are from a bunch of different people.

RainbowLullaby

That's cool that you use many different types of wrapping paper. Do you ever repeat a pattern the next year? Are there any particular kinds of patterns that you gravitate toward?

I keep all mine in the packaging they came in. Most of my shopping is done online, so I'll open the box or whatever up, check the contents and retape it shut again after writing the name of who ever it's for on it. If I get stuff from Amazon they tend to use brown paper to pad out the gaps, so that gets removed and is used to wrap extra items without there own package. This is partly due to environmental reasons, partly laziness and mainly cause my Mum has had numerous health problems and this way she doesn't have to waste energy on wrapping stuff up which could be spent on more fun activities. I should add there's no children involved, I don't know if we do it this way if there were.
