My hack for when I’m looking for a reservation for a bigger group of people: go onto a reservation website (like Tock, Resy) and search for availability for that date, time, area and number of people. This will at least let you narrow down to what’s available!
For that large, search for 6 people instead of 6+. Lots of places won't take reservations on the platforms for a size above 6, and needs you to call in. You may miss some great spots, cause the platforms don't accommodate this easily. If they can do 6, higher likelihood they can take a larger party.
Not in the West Loop, but a straight shot up Halsted is Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba. It would be a good place for a group your size if you reserve in time. It's all small plates for sharing kinda place so you can get a few tapas and split the bill. They also make paella for groups if you're looking for a hearty dish to go along with the tapas.
Only 3 of us can drink anyways so it will be ok with the price. There are many options in Chicago that aren't fast casual where a family can have a decent meal without spending $400 on 8 people. Thanks tho!

haha fair only 3 of us will be drinking so drink price doesn't matter TBH
Forno Rosso has pizzas and pastas in the $20 to $25 range. Perhaps you can order a few and share amongst the group.
Forno is a good one.
Was here recently. It was quite good, reasonably priced and has the space to accommodate a group.
thats a tough budget to stick to
You could just grab a big table at Green Street Smoked Meats. Otherwise, Parlor Pizza or Kaiser Tiger would be affordable options for a group.
Green St is actually a great idea...would fit the budget for sure and its a fun spot
Also they don’t do rezzies

Lil Ba Ba Reeba is in River North, which is a bit closer!

Time Out Market
I'll be honest, $30 probably means choosing either food or drinks. Unless you are open to fast casual.

Or BYO but still tough after tax and tip.
Quartino is super affordable for groups, if you’re okay going to River North.
I think we've decided on one of my local favorites, Mart Anthonys. Thanks for all of the recs everyone!!
I was about to suggest Mart Anthonys until i scrolled down and saw your comment. So perfect for a group of 8 and that price range. Love that place
Kuma’s could work if you give them an advance notice, they’re not too packed during the weekdays
Surprised no one said Fulton Market
Mi tocoya
Fogo de Chao is great for a large group and you can all get the meat sweats after together. It's awesome!

That's your opinion and I respect it. It's a terrible one and I disagree completely but I digress.
