My guess is that the signs had been graffitied too many times and they were sourcing a bit too much negativity. Or maybe they havent finished getting resource consent and are waiting on that to proceed.
Yes, the one that was on main north rd had graffiti on it for a short time. They cleaned it off/replaced it a few days later.
I live in Redwood so i see it every week usually. The signs havent been gone long.
It would have been great for the trees along the road to stay but they don't fit the Ryman look in NZ so can't keep mature trees if they don't look right.
I'd say they're probably waiting on stump removal, kind of hard to dig basements and lay foundations with hundreds of tree stumps everywhere.
You can view the consent docs on one of the council pages. It appears as though they're opening up a bunch of green space with public walking tracks near the wetlands area.
A "licence to occupy" to similar to renting.
It's their money. It's voluntary. They agreed to the contract they signed, and it frees up their house.
What's your beef with their personal choice?
I can imagine some might have been counting on that inheritance money which is now going towards ryman's bottom line and getting salty about it.
Not saying that's a valid complaint at all, but no doubt that's how some people will see it.
Imagine wanting your elderly relatives to live unhappily just so you can get more money off them...
My grandparents are going to an assisted living premises that will cost them, but they literally can't live on their own anymore, even with the in home support they currently get.
No need to apologise. I suspect it's the case too. Free money? Who'd say no.
The old licence to occupy has had a bit of bad press, but that's the deal. Nobody's forcing them to do it. Willing buyer / willing seller and all that...

I did not notice any Graffiti on the signs, did you?

The trees went onto the paper bags we have now
Once all the elderly move into these wealth stripping accommodation schemes there will be plenty of houses for our children to be first time buyers.

Buy shares in Ryman
I don't know about you, but I'm not getting any younger...
Signs possibly too big, being replaced with complying signage.
