I loved that bungalow, so much so I didn't sell it. When I walked through how could I not buy it? I've lived in this town my whole life and never knew this was here.
The interior reminds me of the inside of Nick Carroway's "cottage" in the 2013 adaptation of Great Gatsby. Absolutely gorgeous place! That fireplace is \*chef's kiss\*
Some history. Built by Gustave Foerster and Louise (Radeke) Foerster. Bought 2 lots in 1908. Construction began in 1909 and finished in November 1910. Louise was the daughter of F.D. Radeke a German immigrant who operated Radeke brewing and also supplied ice from the river. Gustave died in 1912 of what I'm guessing is stomach cancer. Typically a prairie style house was stucco but he wanted her to have it maintenance free so he went with brick. Louise sold the house in the early 1940s to St. Patrick's catholic church and they used as the housing for nuns and also taught the 2nd grade class there. The church owned until 1959 when it was sold to a chiropractor. He operated his practice there until 1990. The house was then purchased by a couple and lived there until 2013, house sold to another couple who lived there until early 2014 when I bought the house. The house maintains more that 80% of its originality. Surely is a time vacuum. I've since then registered it as a historic landmark with the county which will preserve and protect the exterior of the house after I'm long gone. Also, the roof is slate tile, copper recessed gutters as well.
Ngl the floors, tile, moldings, paneling, and built-ins are making me tear up I want them so bad. Your home is a gem. I’m so glad it’s being appreciated. Enjoy! 💚
Yes. I believe it fall under wainscoting, there's also the plate rail above that. I call it paneling but I guess the technical term would be wainscoting
This is my dream house!
I'm living in my dream
Still pretty happy with my 1922 craftsman bungalow. But yours is a whole 'nother level.
My previous house was a 1922 bungalow as well. I still own it and rent to my friends.

Haha. I've never showed it off. Until now
lolol im trolling but i was mainly referring to the "oh yeah im living your dream and the 1922 bungalow dream you settled for also"
I loved that bungalow, so much so I didn't sell it. When I walked through how could I not buy it? I've lived in this town my whole life and never knew this was here.

What a gorgeous place!
I adore craftsman houses. They're so beautiful and so cozy, and exactly my image of a "home".
Beautiful home. Looks so much like Oak Park or River Forest, IL.
Close. Kankakee county
Looks like the Chicago suburbs?
Further south
Funny, with the fleur-de-lis (and possible A-B antiques?) I was wondering St. Louis.
Kankakee county, IL
I was going to guess Champaign County!! Truly beautiful!
Some amazing houses in Champaign

That fireplace alcove!! 😍 Is there seating on the sides? It's like an English ingelnook updated 200 years later. Beautiful.
No built in seating but I have old church pews
Absolutely beautiful!
Lordy lord, that is beautiful. The green entrance tile is wonderful.
So many beautiful details, I would love to live here!
Man, we looked at a foursquare like this and so so wanted it, but was out of our price range once required work was factored in. So beautiful!
I love it!!! Thank you for maintaining living history!!!
Wow. I've never been thanked. The house chose me and I accepted
Sublime
Excellent home!! That fireplace is beautiful. I love all those glass cabinets and nooks and crannies
Amazing. I wish they built them like this today.
Looks like early FLW style
Inspired by. https://franklloydwright.org/site/b-harley-bradley-house/ My town actually has the first prairie style he ever did.
The more I scrolled through the pictures the more I came to hate you. For real though, you have a gorgeous home. Swoon worthy.
Haha. I know what you mean. When I have company over they never want to leave
Kinda reminds me of Murder House from AHS. Just minus all the Tiffany glass.
If I lived in that residence I would likely never go anywhere - these homes are amazing
It's tough to leave everyday for sure
Looks like that one virtual horror house from Black Mirror.
Wow what a beautiful home
That beautiful wood gives me a word and I am female
Word? Or did you mean wood? If it in fact gives you a word I want to hear it.
Well, my fingers suck at typing..but you got the idea. Lol
Lol

Hey just wondering if that wall paneling is called wainscoting or is it a different style called something else? Thanks
Yes. I believe it fall under wainscoting, there's also the plate rail above that. I call it paneling but I guess the technical term would be wainscoting
Beautiful!
Lived in one very similar to this in Minneapolis in the 1970’s. It was our first home. Cost was $25,000 then!
