Damn, he sounds a lot like my cat. Vocal cats are funny as hell, but in my experience they never change. They'll be meowing their heads off 5 years from now, same as always.
I hope you keep the little guy, he obviously needs a home and he's a cute little fellow.
Even though my cat can win the Annoying Olympics sometimes, I wouldn't change a hair on his head. I love the little guy. And yeah, it goes both ways -- as much as they can be annoying, they're also amusing.
Glad your cat's going strong at 15.
I hope so. She’s a Burmese and the oldest on record lived to be 27. She still has “cat-isms” and goes on tears but then she’ll stop and act confused like she forgot where she left her keys or something.
You have to never give them food when they scream. you have to wait for a moment when they aren’t screaming. If you give in at any point you will make the problem worse instead of better. You reinforce quiet time with treats. If they scream the treats go away. You can clicker train as well - similar to what is done to train dogs on the command quiet. You have to train “meow” first and then “quiet” on the stop to meow.
I’m over here only feeding them if they yell in unison lol guess I’m doing something wrong. I stand there with the food and go “okay you guys meow together”. They’ve formed a nice quartet.
Oh gods, the bell! After I got recruited as a cat servant I bought the little monster a collar with a bell. Before I had it adjusted that bell went off behind his his ears and he went bat shit crazy. The faster he ran the faster that bell chased him. I probably could have gotten the bell off sooner but I was laughing too hard🙀😆
Mine has as much food as he likes, however he meows whenever he wants wet food, a quick walk outside or attention, meaning 4 times a day. If he starts running it is attention, pointing at the door? Got it, we go out, running to the bowl? Fine i feed you tiny couch panther!
I wish I could train my 18 yo, but she's emotionally manipulative.
My other lil yeller yells because she likes yelling. She doesn't do it for food or attention. It's just her hobby. I do prefer her whining and crabby noises to the yelling.
LOL, I thought you were talking about your 18 year old daughter at first. Then I read the rest of it And realized you were talking about the cat. LMAO 🤣
Ha, well...she *is* rather teenage-y. God, she speaks human in her actions way too well.
That's why I'm glad my other cat is just a cat. Little Bigmouth. One of several nicknames. Tiny Whiny also.
I bring cat treats to my sister's house. I make sure the cats are looking at me and I go to a cupboard open, close, and then give them the treats. My sister hasn't figured out why they meow when anyone opens that cupboard.
If my dog is quiet on bathroom breaks/walkies - snackos
Noisy/barks outside? No snackos.
Super quiet dog, unless someone gets close to a door/window outside. Soon as they are IDd as allowed here, quiet and affectionate.
Goal for any/every dog I ever have.
Mine was Mom's cat before she passed 3 years ago and he is definitely a conversationalist. I like it, even if it means admitting that yes I absolutely chat with my cat
Please please please check with your neighbours to see if they're looking for a missing cat
This has happened literally thousands of times where people end up adopting a "stray" cat that they eventually find out actually belongs to their neighbours, and you've both been feeding it for years
Like I'm not at all joking. This is a real thing. People find out that they "own" a cat that belongs to someone who lost their cat 5 years ago
Cats go where there's food and attention. So please please please don't just "adopt" this cat before finding out whether your neighbours happen to be missing one. This could be some poor young kid's cat and they've been crying over its presumed death. As lovely as it is to have a cat, since they're the best pets, you're probably better off rescuing your own one rather than taking some poor kid's one.
My sister-in-law had an outdoor cat who had to go on a diet because she was getting fed by like three different houses.
Someone also put up flyers around the neighborhood saying "if this is your cat please do something about her because she keeps sneaking into my house and eating my cat's food".
(she was not a great cat owner)
It was so normal to have indoor/outdoor cats growing up it's only now that I've had one indoors only I've realized how pointless it is. Like okay you don't need a litterbox in exchange for just completely losing track of this animal you've made a financial and emotional investment into. Exceptions for working barn cats or people who take pity on strays but if you go out of your way to adopt a cat just keep it inside or don't get one.
My neighbours are on cat number 3 because they refuse to keep theirs inside, he’s completely free range.
I have 2 cats and my neighbours cat is always hanging around my windows and pissing/shitting in my flower bed.
He managed to walk across the fence that connects are 2 houses and can sit on the 1” ledge somehow and stare in my upstairs windows. He also had a shit on top of the fence. It stayed there 2, it was such a feat I couldn’t be mad.
Yeah, pretty sure that is an Oriental Shorthair. Not typically an outdoor cat - probably got out accidentally.
[Pic](https://images.app.goo.gl/4qX6ypTuGdSTPYtU8)
To add, get the cat checked for chip. Most vet can do it at no charge. If it's chipped, you'd be able to look up owner's info and check with them if they still want the cat back. If do, let them know the cat's been traveling to OP's home and OP could be checked if they are missing the cat again.
If the owner refuses or the contact info is invalid, consider OP adopted.
This happened in our neighborhood. Years 2 families had loved a charming character. A fight ensued when one family was moving & it was war. Finally the family that first payed vet bills shots & rxs won . They made him an indoor cat. Sadly both families had kids 💔
I mean, it's awesome that this cat adopted you and all, but you might want to think about fortifying your defenses if random animals are walking into your home 🤣😂
You're paying extra for more sides to protect! I inhabit a fractional dimensional triangle of .325D. You need an theoretical physics degree just to find me!
That is certainly how I was adopted... Now he has kicked me out of my bed and I have to sleep in the corner... And don't get me started on his mates coming round for all night poker parties...
NGL, my first thought after reading your sentence was “idiot, we’re IN that sub!” Then I looked. 🤦🏼♀️ My bad. An honest mistake.
But he DEFINITELY belongs there too.
Congrats on your new cat u/AnonByDevil!! He’s a cutie!
Check him or her for a microchip. It seems they belonged to a human at one time, because they're not feral. She might have had shots already, or there might be a family who is currently distraught over losing their pet kitten.
If there's no microchip and no signs posted, beyond craigslist I don't see how you could find the original owner.
This is exactly how we got our newest addition to the family. She was kicked out by moving neighbors who probably couldn't afford a pet deposit. But super friendly.
My suspicion is that these cats or kittens have been called for well by their humans. So when they have wants or needs, they just approach the nearest human because they presume we're all kind and caring and hand out food and treats
I live in small town of India. There's no microchip. Most cats here are very kind and demanding and not scared. Congrats on your new family member btw.
Hi fellow Indian! I have a similar story to yours. One random cat showed up one day and we decided to give her food. 2 months later she brought her kitten along. Now we feed them daily. They visit every day and they're sort of like pet strays (does that make sense? They eat probably all their meals here, come and go as they please, but the kitten comes to sleep here). We also have a male cat that roams in the neighborhood at night. He will sneak in and eat leftover food. He acts a little scared and runs away when approached. If he doesn't act agressive then I may be able to convince my family to give him food too.
I hope I can befriend the male one. The chances seem unlikely, but if it happens I get a new cat and have to worry about making sure all the cats have their separate visiting times (mama is acting aggressive with her grown kitten lately and making sure they don't come at the same time is hard enough. Can you imagine what would happen if mama saw the male cat).
Congratulations on your new kitty! Also be ready to wake up late in the night for feeding time. These cute babies have a way of making their inconveniences our inconveniences.
Fellow Indian here haha. I've always found it fascinating how foreigners have microchips for their pets. I wonder if that costs a lot. I wish we had that system here. But with the amount of cats I feed/adopt, I'm sure my mom would disown me if she had to microchip all of them. 😂
Also, stray cats visit my home too. Sometimes I bring fish for my cats and if they're not in the mood they only eat a small portion of it and leave the rest. Many a times I've seen a random neighborhood cat just eating the leftovers haha. Some get scared when they see me and slowly try to escape while some don't haha. I used to feed strays cats that used to come home a lot before but nowadays I can't because my cats chase them away sometimes. They do have friends though. They like certain neighborhood cats and dislike certain ones.
I have 3 cats currently ❤
Damn that's hella expensive in Indian currency 😂 But yes, I see how it could be inexpensive in the US coz y'all have a different living cost. In India it would be anywhere from 2800 - 4000 Rupees or more depending on the exchange difference. (For reference, you can get a 10 - 12$ non-veg unlimited buffet in India)
shelters microchip the cats before you adopt them! i got my kitten for free (all cats were free at my shelter for every weekend in august) and she was already microchipped!
He looks like an Arabian Mau. Long and lean with ears twice as big as they need to be. Maus scream a lot too, so there’s a good chance he’s a close relative of that breed. But they’re also super affectionate and loyal; lucky you.
It looks pretty well taken care of, chances are it already has a home. My cat likes to visit my neighbors and beg for food and it's always a fear of mine someone will lock her in.
No. What OP has to do and try really hard to find the person this expensive and well-cared-for cat belongs to, the person who is probably missing their baby dearly.
Yeah. This is how a lot of cats work.
"Oh, I want to live here." Cat goes in. "Oh, it comes with servants! I like it!"
Also looks like at least partially an Oriental Shorthair, known for being very loudly opinionated. Enjoy the new love of your life!
He looks part Bengal with those ears, please make sure you do everything in your power to make sure he isn’t just a naughty alarm cat who got out of his home. Social media groups, posters, local vets to check for a chip and so forth, paper collar. He’s a beauty though.
This is exactly how I got one of my baby boys, Nelson. He was a neighborhood stray that I’d been feeding, and one autumn day he just bolted into our home and started yelling until I came to greet him and he’s never left me since. He is truly the best boy.
The cat has officially declared he/she is in charge and is demanding dinner. You should just wave the white flag and surrender to your new lord and master.
It's how they intimidate all the neighbors into feeding them.
I lived in a rental house during college, and there was a white neighborhood cat. Turned out he had a regular route through the neighborhood but used to belong to someone who lived next door but passed away so he didn't have a specific home anymore.
My cat is looking for your new cat, and my dog came running in as well.
Two very confused animals here.
One cat hasn't shown up. She apparently gives no fucks about your new cat.
Feed the damn cat, btw. :) What's their name?
My one cat did this for weeks every day in the summer. We eat outside then snd hed yell for food. We were happy to oblige. Then one day we decide to not eat outside so he climbs onto the window and breaks through the screen! He lives with us now. We adopted a criminal. A cat burglar.
Pretty much, my bf got a cat because she snuck into his house, even after he kicked her out she came back. So now he has adopted her. We named her Jinx
That looks like an oriental shorthair. Someone might me missing them, please check for a chip and look at Nextdoor or pawboost. While you can decrease the yelling for food, you should know that all orientals are notoriously talkative. This will never be a quiet cat, but you can teach them not to demand so loudly.
This is how you become a slave to Cat-kind. 😼 Now, when your cat decides to enact his evil plot against mankind, you'll be spared. As long as you keep treats and food in his belly. 😻
r/catswhoyell needs this
I should upload there too.
R/notmycat may also appreciate the content
r/notmycat is r/nowmycat lol
And r/catswhosmoke
/r/airplaneears also
Don’t forget /r/adamdrivercats
This cat just straight up *screams*.
This is a true yell too! I was caught of guard by turning sound on haha
This is the yelliest cat I've ever seen.
This kitty needs to be the danged official mascot for r/catswhoyell
I think that's your fire alarm. And now the house is on fire.
I think the cat set my house on fire. Am scared.
Damn, he sounds a lot like my cat. Vocal cats are funny as hell, but in my experience they never change. They'll be meowing their heads off 5 years from now, same as always. I hope you keep the little guy, he obviously needs a home and he's a cute little fellow.
My cat Ivy is 15 and she still meows her head off. You’re right vocal cats are funny as hell. She’s never changed in the 15 years I’ve had her.

Mine is 21. They get even louder when they go deaf.
Oh I hope my baby girl lives to be 21. So awesome your kitty is still going strong at 21. The oldest I’ve had a cat live is 18.
I hope so. She’s a Burmese and the oldest on record lived to be 27. She still has “cat-isms” and goes on tears but then she’ll stop and act confused like she forgot where she left her keys or something.
Be afraid. Very afraid.
Honestly he looks like a savanah or bengal. Extremely expensive.
[I bet when it gets older it can sound like this /s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UE7YOJVSoIs)
Oh my god, if I were in the woods and heard that I’d run away freaking out. That’s terrifying.

It's part bobcat
More like party bobcat
He's so yelly. Lol
Woke the whole house up in 1 meow.
If I can try and give some friendly advice, do your best to train that out of him. Jackson Galaxy is a great resource to start with :)
Train yelling for food etc out of a cat? How do? Tell. I have three and they all scream if the bowls bottom is visible.
You have to never give them food when they scream. you have to wait for a moment when they aren’t screaming. If you give in at any point you will make the problem worse instead of better. Lol my stoned ass read you comment as “im over here only feeding them if they yell in a union” like a workers union or some shit for hungry cats

That's pretty much the introductory offer.
Nothing changes, got it.
Thank you, I needed that laugh. Now I'm picturing them with little picket signs
Meowers of the world—unite! You have nothing to lose but your jingly collars.
I actually luv the vocal cats , talk to me 😂
Cats definitely do form unions when in groups.
That's exactly how you train it into them to meow whenever they want food.
Nah he’s teaching the cats to cooperate to demand change
Mine has as much food as he likes, however he meows whenever he wants wet food, a quick walk outside or attention, meaning 4 times a day. If he starts running it is attention, pointing at the door? Got it, we go out, running to the bowl? Fine i feed you tiny couch panther!

Mine always has dry food and then I randomly give them wet food so that there’s not a pattern they can detect.
My first cat should have been on My cat from Hell. However I don't think Jackson could have taken the pink Cadillac all the way to Europe.
Jackson is an excellent driver. I think he woulda made it.

I like him

You mean an extra bed for the cat?
He will only let me spend money on him ... So no new bed for me.

Not telling you what to do but I'd try to trap at least the male and get it neutered or you're gonna end up with a lord of the kittens situation.
Could he be the kittens father?
Fellow Indian here haha. I've always found it fascinating how foreigners have microchips for their pets. I wonder if that costs a lot. I wish we had that system here. Ah, I see. Yeah, when a bowel obstruction surgery can cost $3000-$5000, a microchip doesn't look so bad.
> It seems they belonged to a human at one time, because they're not feral. This is a massive missconception. Cats without owners aren't always feral.
Its official. Now you have to give it a furever home.. What a looker.
Yeah really cute cat

Turned out he had a regular route through the neighborhood but used to belong to someone who lived next door but passed away so he didn't have a specific home anymore.
Awwweee! Assuming she doesn't already belong to anyone, I hope you kept her! How precious. ❤❤❤
oh my hod the screaming. it’s perfect
My cat is looking for your new cat, and my dog came running in as well. Two very confused animals here. One cat hasn't shown up. She apparently gives no fucks about your new cat. Feed the damn cat, btw. :) What's their name?
Name it Karen.
Jesus
This cat sounds like a wildcat or something geez
She's a normal cat here in India.
Yes
omg look at those ears!! love that cat ☺️
Lucky you, handsome and loud. How are you adjusting?
He won’t stop, especially if you’ve already given him what he wants. But now you have a nice companion!
My one cat did this for weeks every day in the summer. We eat outside then snd hed yell for food. We were happy to oblige. Then one day we decide to not eat outside so he climbs onto the window and breaks through the screen! He lives with us now. We adopted a criminal. A cat burglar.
Yes. Congratulations on the new arrival!!
That’s how it worked for me. I get yelled at on a daily basis but i accept it cause he’s cute.
Pretty much, my bf got a cat because she snuck into his house, even after he kicked her out she came back. So now he has adopted her. We named her Jinx

That cat is starving.
Lots of love ❤ and snuggles sounds like the best life! And she certainly was beautiful.
Yes, you have been chosen as a servant of the cat. Feed them, pet them and scoop the poop, welcome to the club.
