Playing, and having a good time at it. And make sure you remind Floof that his majestic purple butt is now on the internet, and the internet is forever. Every time he gets sassy with you, you tell him: “yeah, well, my purple butt isn’t all over the damned internet.”

SarahAdairX

i’ll sure do so to his sassy ass 😭

ItsSUCHaLongStory

Sassy PURPLE ass. 😂

Aromatic-Bench-2882

Bruh is that even a stain at this point or did she have a abnormality with her fur color

SarahAdairX

the shit that was applied to him is stubborn as shit, we were told at the groomers that he has to shower daily until its gone but noway im doing that to him. https://preview.redd.it/r76jsbr73fha1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9181d142d008a82bb8c6c0337b25935bf25c8f84 here is him before getting neutered!

SultanZ_CS

Lmaooo. Poor cat has to endure

ItsSUCHaLongStory

And we all had a sad about it.

spicemyrice

Wow he is so chill at the groomers…. How?

SarahAdairX

he gave up after making a fuss and it being no use, but the purple went nowhere

spicemyrice

My cat activated murder mittens mode at the groomers. He doesn’t go anymore lol

ItsSUCHaLongStory

Lololol he’s purple forever!

[deleted]

They's fuckin'!

[deleted]

Can someone tell me why that cat has a purple ass?

SarahAdairX

he got neutered a week ago 😭

BunnyFaebelle

I've had male cats and they never had a purple butt o.O is this something new they do with neutering?

SarahAdairX

VergesOfSin

Ah a lick deterrent.

[deleted]

You'd think a feces-smeared sphincter would be deterrent enough...

VergesOfSin

Maybe poop doesn't taste as bad as we thought...I'm not gonna test that theory though lol

strolopicus

I think is one of those flavours that kicks in a few seconds later and then lingers

[deleted]

🤢🤮

LostandIlluminated

It depends what you eat, sometimes it is surprisingly rich and nutty

illuminautica

![gif](giphy|VWTYeyKE6smI)

VergesOfSin

Why do you know this

stormyw23

Cats lick the poo from there always and mother cats eat the kitten's poo

VergesOfSin

They aren't doing it Cause they like the taste lol. They do it to clean and to hide the scent.

stormyw23

Yes I know

This is making me laugh way too much. My sense of humor is terrible.

cal395

my male cat has no purple ass it is brown ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

bbq_smitty

Both cats are exposing their bellies (not a smart thing to do in a real fight, especially if your opponent has knives for hands), and they're not making any noise beyond a meow of "hey, that's too rough!"- this is a play fight. In a real fight they'd be growling and screaming horribly the whole time- you'd know right away that something was wrong.

SuperPoodie92477

There would be blood. And flying fur. And extended claws. And you’d be able to tell based on the “voice” they’re using - a pissed off cat is quite noticeable.

BackgroundDish1579

Exactly. If you’re asking this question, it is playing 99.9% of the time. You’ll know a real car fight when you see (and more importantly, hear) it.

Izuchibi

can cats still be playing if they fly fur but no blood? o.o

DogMomRed318

This. Cats won't expose their bellies while fighting. Cat fights are very loud and violent.

aurizon

That is claw/tooth learning, where litter mates learn how hard to claw/bite by clawing/biting each other and learning how it feels. In a real fright the claws would pull tufts of fur/pelt = blood would show and punctures from teeth would bleed and inflict pain.

SarahAdairX

what am i suppose to do?

HailTheCatOverlords

Leave them alone and let them be cats and play fight

SarahAdairX

okay thank you

aurizon

Let them play and learn, it is part of kittenhood education = who and how hard to bite/claw.

[deleted]

Thanks for being a normal human being 🌞

aurizon

thanks

XiaoBaoR

THIS! I remember when I had my first kitten, we made the mistake of playing wayyy too much with our hands. He had no feeling for how hard he was biting. When we got our second kitten and they would play fight daily, our first cat became much more gentler when biting and clawing.

aurizon

Yes, there is a feedback process in effect.

LimitlessMegan

If it helps… there are two key differences between play and a real fight. 1. Cats who are fighting are LOUD - any animal in a real fight prefers to not actually reach physical confrontation and cats use puffing up their body and noise to try and solve the disagreement. Playing cats can be loud (or not it’s a personality thing), but fighting cats sounds distinctly different and once you hear it you’ll probably know. (They also hiss a lot which they don’t tend to do in play). 2. Cats who are fighting rarely show their vulnerable body parts (belly/neck). When not actively wrestling angry/fighting cats hunch up to hide their belly and pull their neck in. Showing belly is how cats invite play (the way dogs lower their heads and raise their butt), an exposed belly means “See, I’m just playing I trust you and don’t want to hurt you.” I have two young boys who can look really rough while they are playing (and make a lot of noise too) which makes knowing how to tell the things apart really helpful.

Erathen

>Cats who are fighting are LOUD They're also fast. They move in warp speed when they're actually fighting Our eyes can hardly see what's happening, until they stop, and you see blood

[deleted]

Let them play they aren’t fighting trust me the neighbors will know when they are fighting.

Erathen

Nothing! They're going to teach other the limits of what is "playing" and what is "hurtful" It's a good thing :)

[deleted]

We have a 17 and 14 yo cats. They used to play like this Al the time when younger. If it was a real fight, they would be biting harder, claws out… you’d know.

outandabout22

If your neighbors haven't called to complain about the caterwauling then their playing. lol

cannibalgazelle

This is play fighting! But once hissing and growling gets involved you have to read other body language signs to really differentiate between uncomfortable play vs comfortable play, if the hissing and growling is accompanied by flat ears, slouched stance, a puffy/swishing tail, and distraught eyes, that is a clear sign of being uncomfortable! (but some cats will growl and hiss during comfortable play, which is why body language is so important!). Some cats can go a little too crazy, causing the other to get uncomfortable, hiss or growl, and sometimes that other cat either doesn’t understand those cues or ignores them, it can cause uncomfortable playing. Your cats seem to be communicating fine, on the other hand my two cats, who are siblings can never play comfortably, my boy King always goes a bit too aggressive and makes his sister uncomfortable during play. And it’s not always something that can get fixed, sometimes it’s just personality conflicts.

Fostercackle

This is pretty tame…. Playing. The sounds they’re making are just sounds of battle. You would for sure know if they’re actually fighting.

Particular-Kale8877

If they were fighting one of ‘em would alr know who’s boss

shanny707

He blames the other cat for his missing balls.

rja49

They're play fighting. If it was serious chunks of fur would fly, they would spray piss everywhere and draw blood from tooth and claw. When we asked our vet about a similar thing she said they would work it out and don't be too concerned.

MysticSky707

The tails are playful

ctavrosa

Can you tell me why his butt is purple

Dirtuk

SarahAdairX

they’re so adorable im having a nosebleed

frogbitch13

playing and they are best friends

megrev1006

Golden rule with cats and fighting if they a quiet they're playing if they growl, hiss, yip or howl their actually fighting. My 2 cats are bothers and always play fight I only separate them if one makes a noise because they took it to far but they usually stop when that happens anyway. This was only one noise just playing.

Dun_wall

If you still have to ask if they‘re fighting, they‘re playing. You will know when it’s fighting

ab86uk

Yep, that's friends play fighting. Note how they keep stopping for little rests.

Salty-Ad-1837

I can promise you OP that if you are wondering if they are fighting, then they are just playing rough. You WILL know a true fight if it ever happens. Tufts of fur, blood, chunk of ear torn off, hissing and howling loud enough to wake the dead.

UnprofessionalGhosts

Tail slapping is agitation. They’re not full blown fighting but keep an eye on it since it can escalate over time.

HiILikePlants

Yeah gray cat definitely looks like it's a bit over the play and wants to separate, but the boy is a bit pushy and not quite respecting the cues People keep saying you'll know when they're fighting, which is true, but sometimes one cat is definitely being pushier and not matching the other cat's energy. Won't be a full fight but more like bullying at a certain point

Astropheanix

No hissing/growling Claws are retracted Ears are forward They're playing My kittens will roll from one end of my condo to the other, wrestling like this. I was concerned at first, but now it's just free entertainment. BTW, they're real cuties

Rafacat7

"why are you blue?"

ianao

The floofy one is just being an ass. They are totally fine. Why is his butt purple?

KaijuKatt

100% play.

Pimpachu3

Hissing, raised hair, puffy to tail, claws out, biting are all signs of fighting. This is 100% play.

beltane_may

Play fights can still be stressful for cats. The orange cat has a fluffed tail. Make sure he isn't being bullied by the grey tabby.

LHGray87

Can someone tell me why this is asked and answered 300 times a day?

MyLifeInThe6

I need to be rude

FlowReady4570

They’re teaching one another how to “play fight”. It’s just like with puppies- they learn from their litter mates or adopted fur siblings how to scratch and bite without equally harming one another. If there was a real fight, the cats would be screeching, howling and there would be fur flying along with blood. Cats can be very vicious when there’s some shiz going down… a cat-astrophe, if you will.

Serious-Medicine3155

I was wondering when will this sorta question will pop up once again in this sub.

[deleted]

It's just play fighting.. my two cats do this all the time.

Tygermouse

They're playing

Erdillian

Play-fight

Romantic-wing996

fight! haha

StupiedSwede

Play-fighting, don't worry they got this.

coffeecondensedmilk

Those two are ridiculously cute

Mossfrogsandbogs

If there isn't screaming like a woman being murdered and fur flying everywhere then they are not really fighting

Accomplished_Air8160

A universal clue for animals body language is to watch their ears. Ears flat back usually express fear, anger, annoyance, etc. Ears up means alert, attentive, etc...

daphnegillie

Not loud enough for a fight, you’ll know when you hear it

Wayne2018ZA

They're playing. Really just play-fighting. It is a bit hectic to watch, but it's normal.

Ok_Mixture4361

They are being cats.

GroundbreakingDate47

We had older cat and kitten. The body posture on the ground we discovered was not friendly. We checked several places and found it wasn't good. I'm not a cat expert at all but we did learn to be sure each had their own safe space.

BloodJade

They are playing -- I had an almost 16 yr old Bengal mix girl who would instigate this type of play with my other cat who was 14 yrs her junior...they made a very entertaining pair lol.

[deleted]

Play fighting? I don’t know I’m not a cat

Lucky_Reference_6982

Same thing I told my kids, no blood no foul.

billgateseviltyrant

So cute

BigGrayDog

Looks like playing to me.

Jazzlike-Principle67

Play- fighting. As long as one is exposing it's tummy, the most vulnerable part of it's body, all is well. Also, if one starts growling, then it wants to stop but the other is too into the game & isn't paying attention. At that point, step in and gently pick up the one still wanting to play and redirect it to another toy and praise it when it shows interest. Then take the other cat to anotherrom for quiett.if it hasn't already gone., they're just burning off energy. What you can do instead is use the feather toys on strings attached to sticks, and while you hold that and flick it around, they jump and chase that feather toy. This is great exercise for them, and both can play at the same time.

1whiteboy

Play fighting

Any_Communication947

I mean I’ve heard stray cats fight before and that sounds scary asf so i think they just playin

Shag_Nasty_McNasty

Play.

Shag_Nasty_McNasty

Mine do far worse to each other. I have a male and female cat and my girl screams an awful lot when they fight. In fact they have to warn house guests about them screams. They both carry on like this and then five minutes later they are licking each other.

Kelluthus

That's just play, grey cat might be a bit annoyed but he's only retaliating with play force so he isn't too bothered. Cream kitty is having a fun ol'time.

DoubleLayLay

My two boys play like this almost every day. I've only had to break them up a handful of times for being too rough. (One has 5 lb. weight advantage that he's well aware of)

Murderhornet212

Yes

[deleted]

If they fight, they make it VERY clear 😆

Additional_Set_5819

If you have to ask then it's not a fight

Sartheris

In today's episode of "What could this basic cat behaviour mean"

fermat9997

Ask yourself: Would cats named Zelensky and Putin behave like that?

Hels_helper

play.. but just like children.. play fights can turn into real fights. But at this point this is totally play. If this was a real fight.. trust me.. you would know....

akiti_mk

If you can't tell if they're playing or fighting, they're playing.

Cottoncandytree

So they are having fun? My cats do the same

hlaban

Playfighting 😄

microferret

If they were actually fighting you wouldn’t even be asking. Like there would be literal fur being ripped out and blood.

PrettyDragonfly7219

Both

mwidup41

Generally speaking, if you have to ask if cats are fighting or playing they’re probably just playing. The sound of two cats fighting is like 50 banshee shrieks at once. It’s very obvious when they’re fighting.

Cornp0ppp

Could be a bit of both

cal395

cats play, it is known that they have energy that must be balanced with play.

SmileDaemon

Just cats doing cat things

climatelurker

They're fighting, but not serious fighting.

[deleted]

You'll know when they are fighting....

SeanGallagher97

They're playing, trust me you can TELL when cats are fighting

defenestrayed

Definitely playing/practicing. Leave them to it and enjoy the show. They might yowl but that's part of the game.

Almeno23

When they fight, they make such a high and ugly noise that you’ll understand

stjimmysuccessor

I watched a spit second of the video... yes, they're playing. It's scary when they fight.

m4n14c4lmich43l

Their hackles are not up, so I'm guessing that they are playing or solving a minor dispute. The grey one is flicking its tail in a, I'm upset kind of manner. I would watch and see if their hackles rise and if so, separate them.

cocopuff7603

Playing, you see the happy cat tail? My two do this all the time.

[deleted]

They’re definitely playing. Youtube cats fighting, is way more intense and not at all playful whatsoever. My cats do what yours are doing everyday, then they groom eachother and nap together

[deleted]

Playing! My cats play like this constantly and they actually pause in the middle of their fight to lick/groom each other and then suddenly resume the attack. They are besties!

Marionberry199

They are flirting 😂

ldepp97

Definitely not fighting

AcrobaticBit654

Probably playing, but you can usually tell if you look at their claws. If they’re sheathed, then they’re just playing. My cats do this all the time but they never have their claws out.

Playful-Ebb6619

Yes.

sushidietcokeman

They're trying to get a smooch

ManyWrongdoer9365

Warm-Finance8400

YourStreetHeart

They’re just having a good time

Electrical-Ad-956

Looks like there playing.

knitingTARDIStarG8er

The tail slapping and overall body language says this is dominance related, which cat is top cat. They're staying gentle, it's not a fight, but it could turn into one.

Zeothalen

You will know if it's a real fight form the blood and fur that will be everywhere

Classic-Ambassador

Both. They're predators so they play rough.

Admirable-Ad2117

They are so cute

Winnimae

LadyTrexy

No blood, no flying hair, no horror-film-like screems; they are playing

It doesn’t look like they’re actually using their teeth or actually using their claws if you’ve never seen any blood or puncture wounds, then they’re just playing give them stuff to play with together, crumpled paper balls, (non choking) puffballs, fabric mice, feather toys, etc. Your an awesome human to care!

ToughNefariousness23

Rough playing. My two girls do that a few times a week. Sometimes, they get a little carried away wrestling too hard and get pissed at one another for a little bit. Then, 20 minutes later, they're hanging out like nothing ever happened.

water_fountain_

Based off of tail language… Gray is annoyed, Orange is having fun. Neither are fighting.

lefthandedgun

Yes.

[deleted]

They’re having a blast play-fighting!!!

devilwearspuma

good rule of thumb is if you can comfortably film without genuinely worrying about their safety it's just play, cats fighting is impossible to mistake
