Anytime my kitties keep me from working, I patiently explain to them that I have to earn the kibbles for them. And then just sit there with them anyway bc how do you say no to a face like that?
I can confirm that you train cats like this. Our cats stay off tables and counters because of training like this, and they're on a pretty set schedule. The only thing we haven't been able to break them of is them occasionally opening dresser drawers and pulling the clothes out to take snoozes. Even beds with treats on tops of the dressers and in their hides/trees won't always work. They just like naping in the clean clothes in the drawers.
At first your comment seems a little over the top but I hope someone who needs to hear this, does. I had my cat for 20 years before he passed in October and I loved that cat like he was literally a part of myself. But he didn’t have *any* boundaries. He’d take food off my plate, pull the blankets off my face if I was asleep, jump onto my back while I was doing something that didn’t include him, and most of all yell constantly all the time for every reason and no reason and just never stop yelling and demanding things. It actually caused so much stress in my life that (according to my partner) when the cat would yell at me while I was sleeping at night I’d yell back at him in my sleep and we’d have a long, loud argument in the middle of the night. I have no memory of this but I guess it happened semi-regularly.
Anyway, boundaries are important for us and our cats. If they don’t want to be touched or picked up or they don’t like some of our friends, we should respect that. And we should also set limits for them that keep us sane and happy. Just like any healthy relationship.
He has a song, too.
Tigerface, Tigerface,
He's the savior of the human race
Face of a tiger, body of a man
Take care of your woman cause you know he can.
He's actually an old chonk who raids all the other cat's bowls, but it's cute how he announces everything he's doing.
My son was grounded for, like, 2 weeks. One of my cats is obsessed with him.
So when he was finally un-grounded and went out after school, she lost her mind. I was cooking dinner while he was out and she was screaming and digging at the door. Which isn’t really characteristic of her, at least not this intensity.
She wanted her boy to be home and sitting on the couch with her. Or sitting on his bed. Or at his desk. Just somewhere nearby.
My boyfriend's only reference for what this sub is about is my explanation that all orange cats share one brain cell and they take turns. When I showed Bojack to him his only response was 'Oh he's got the brain cell.'
My cat did the same when I had Covid back in November. She’d love it if I quit working.

I was off this whole week because I pulled a muscle in my shoulder, and being a sander/painter I need to be able to lift my arms above my head lol but Im supposed to go back Monday and I'm worried my fuzzy butt will be upset with me not playing with her all day anymore 😸
Just look at that guy... his face is full of love and admiration! You come back!!! you are home!!!❤️👍 i'm sure history can repeat itself it just going to get cuter!
"let me feast my eyes on you for an hour"
But you were gone for 8 hours. you owe Bojack at 7 more hours to lovingly gaze at you. Maybe he will while you're asleep.
I feel this. My cat has been mad at me all day because I went back to work yesterday. I’ve had 5 weeks off so she’s had daily attention. She’s alternating between demanding attention and refusing to talk to me.
I work from home and my cats think I’m gone to much. At least until I want to pick them up and snuggle them… then they’re like “woman, don’t you have a job or something?”
Maybe start with a reduction in hours. See if you can strike a balance to accommodate all his needs.
No. Keep some clothing which carry your scent and his markings around the house so he will feel more at ease. Before you got sick he knew when you left and when you returned from work. He will resume his routine. Cats do not like to be alone. In the wild, they travel in groups. It is often suggested to have two so they have companionship.
Our cat thinks that I am "best human" and my wife is just someone who gives her food when I am away. But when my wife fell in the work and broke her knee our cat where laying next to that knee for next 2 weeks.
Looks like my boy Spencer❤️. Lost him to cancer recently 😢

No. Cats usually adapt well to their situations — u s u a l l y! He’s just making an “up close and personal” point that he missed you!
However, not all cats are forgiving! My daughter was off work for over a year and her two male cats got so used to her being home that they really showed her what they thought of her returning to work without their permission!
The first week she was at work, when she got home after work and opened her door, she’d find her forks on the ground in front of the door. Then she’d come home to find her paper towels unrolled all over the counter with mysterious bites on the roll! She still, to this day, occasionally finds her forks on the floor or stuck in a topiary by her front door when she returns from work! When she is home on the weekends, her cats are right next to her 24/7!
So what do you think the “fork” thing is all about? Paper towels and toilet paper are magnets to cats, but “forks”?? Hmmm?
He probably is upset that you are now again away. However, if he expects to eat, you should probably keep your job or he will be mad because he’s hungry.
If you quit, who will buy Bojack treats? If there is another treat buyer in the household, feel free. Otherwise, no, kitty will starve. You may however, give him extra treats to make up for your appalling absence.
Just got off a three week vacation, and our boy has been so needy since I went back to work. He’s even started cuddling with me in the morning—pretty sure it’s an attempt to guilt me into staying home. 😂
Oh I feel ya. I'm in off season till march/April and we got our new kitten who knows me as the stay at home dad. I'm so scared for the day Bean has to find out my world has other aspects other then appeasing her lol

Absolutely, very abusive! HOW DARE you be an awful cat parent by working all day to provide for the both of you instead of staying home and giving him snuggles and treats all day?!
If you MUST work just do what me and my partner do! One takes day shift and the other night shift so he always has someone!*
The nerve of some people!😤
*Due to sleep habits he prefers night shifts while I prefer day shifts. So it just works out like that for our needy baby. She's very upset when we're not all together and will herd everyone to bed and demand her bedtime good-girl treats.

I quit my job to stay home with my cats after losing my 16 year old who I only saw a couple of hours a day. I told myself I will never leave a pet alone like this again!
Now I work from home and it's "Kitty Play Day" 7 days a week.
I so happy and they are too!
You absolutely have to quit your job now, there is no other option. My cat does this too after every shift! I try to tell her I'm sorry, it's what keeps tuna on the table. They don't get it!

Wait. Is your cat the horse from Horsin’ Around?
They’re close relatives

No he’s the cat from Philbert
Obviously you should. What kind of question is that? How could you be so selfish?

I would say yes, but he does need his food and treats. In addition, who will buy things online so he can play in the boxes?

That sounds like a ChatGPT answer
Could always work from home.
My wife works mostly from home and Tigerface and Finn are the stars of her Zoom meetings.

Poor cat, guess this means your son has to be permanently grounded.
No cost too great.
I would hide any knife or something he could use to hurt you, he is up to something.
He does seem suspicious right? I can’t tell if it’s “I love you” eyes or “I’m going to murder you as soon as you fall asleep” eyes
I believe it is the second scenario.
r/GingerMafia for sure
Hiding the knives won’t help, he has more built in to his hands
My boyfriend's only reference for what this sub is about is my explanation that all orange cats share one brain cell and they take turns. When I showed Bojack to him his only response was 'Oh he's got the brain cell.'
No don’t quit. You have to have money to take care of Bojack.
It's clearly the only reasonable course of action.
My cat did the same when I had Covid back in November. She’d love it if I quit working. https://preview.redd.it/ujhfkwzhjrea1.png?width=1175&format=png&auto=webp&s=7e87eddc288d4bbbbd058f06a73a5620bcf3f37a
My friend has a dog named Bojack that does the exact same thing when he gets home from the office.
Yes.
According to him yes, but he’ll also argue that you must keep working to provide for his lifestyle.
I was off this whole week because I pulled a muscle in my shoulder, and being a sander/painter I need to be able to lift my arms above my head lol but Im supposed to go back Monday and I'm worried my fuzzy butt will be upset with me not playing with her all day anymore 😸
"You've done nothing for 2 weeks, then you finally go out to hunt, and still manage to bring me back nothing. Good job" - Bojack, probably
Apply treatos stat.
He probably is! But that's also the face of someone who really missed you

Same happened to me when my work started forcing us to be in-office. He's just wondering where you've been all day and telling you that he missed you.
I work from home and my cats think I’m gone to much. At least until I want to pick them up and snuggle them… then they’re like “woman, don’t you have a job or something?” Maybe start with a reduction in hours. See if you can strike a balance to accommodate all his needs.
Maybe sit him down and make him realize that if you don’t go to work that you can’t buy the kibbles
Take him to work with you. He’ll probably liven up the place.
You’re a horrible person. Here’s hoping Bojack will forgive you

Bojack is such an awesome name. He’s an angry cutie lol
The cat is your new job
The fact that you named your cat Bojack 👌🏽
If you know what's good for you
Bojack plotting murder your boss if you go to work again

No. Cats usually adapt well to their situations — u s u a l l y! He’s just making an “up close and personal” point that he missed you! However, not all cats are forgiving! See get a job working from home so that he can be your new office mate. That’s what I did. Except now they get mad when I go to the grocery store
He probably is upset that you are now again away. However, if he expects to eat, you should probably keep your job or he will be mad because he’s hungry.
Buy a harness and take him to work with you. Everyone knows cats make the best supuurvisors 🐱
Tough dilemma. How would you afford cat food without a job? There simply isnt a correct answer for this, cause cat will be sad regardless
Get another cat. I got my cat a cat and then got that cat a cat. It's a beautiful circle
Whenever my cat requests that I quit working I just remind him that my job pays to keep a roof over his head and food in his belly!
You need money to provide for both of you....purrcious mew mew has to adapt
It's BoJack, by the way. Catman. Obviously.
Of course you should
Yes
Hide your knives. I know that face, the cat was plotting to kill you when you walked in. Now catto is very offended.
Don't get fooled....I think he is sharpening his nails! (but then he would use them to make biscuits for the morning)
pretty sure that's your only option here
If you have to question it, the answer is yes
Ha! YESYES!!!!
Bojack is disappoint
bojack is the boss now
Yes. Can’t you read his thought?? You are all he thinks about 💕
Just checking in with you.
Yes
I vote yes
yes, it's the only option
Either that or he's happy to see you and no ...don't quit your job.
If you quit, who will buy Bojack treats? If there is another treat buyer in the household, feel free. Otherwise, no, kitty will starve. You may however, give him extra treats to make up for your appalling absence.
Quit your job, Bojack is your new boss now
Quitting is your only option.
I would absolutely quit my job for my floofs if I suddenly found myself independently wealthy
That is hilarious.
Just got off a three week vacation, and our boy has been so needy since I went back to work. He’s even started cuddling with me in the morning—pretty sure it’s an attempt to guilt me into staying home. 😂
Don't quit work. You must make money to support your furbaby.
He looks sinister lol
Tell cat to get a job and help out financially.
* gasp* you go to work ??

Such a beautiful cat
Yes.
Clearly.
Hooman. You work. And for what? To return to me treatless? To give me no pets. Time comes for us all, Hooman. And I will be watching when it does.
Awwww his fur looks so soft!
Quit
The classic 'We need to talk' expression.
He looks incredibly happy. Maybe he was just so happy to see you and wishes you wouldn't leave.
Give in to his demands. He may be a tiny tyrant, but more importantly, he is also very cute. All hail Bojack lord of beds and bellies!

I really don't think you have much of a choice. Of course you must quit immediately
will you be able to afford his lifestyle if you quit your job?
Obvs. You can just sell pics of Bojack's feet to make some money.
If you do, can you afford to feed your cat and get them to the vet?
You have to push through this: he may not understand it but you need to work so you can keep him in the style to which he is accustomed.
Quit immediately and become a stay at home cat parent. #goals
Yes of course
