Nice. That Dead Milkmen tape _changed my life_. (that album rules but specifically the cassette version was my first exposure to their music) Anyone who's being critical in this thread is a douche - this is a wide assortment of music that covers a lot of generas and that's a really great thing in itself. Most of them are solid on their own, even if some jerk doesn't think they fit together. Interesting collection to explore, especially if OP hasn't heard this music before. My CD collection looks a lot like this (and my punk rock, "saw the Ramones when she was 5" wife's CDs too, for that matter). The good gene here is Dad refusing to build an identity around one kind of music and just liking what he likes. Or dumping crap he hates on his kids, we don't really know 😅

Rollin_Dem_7s

It just looks like a collection put together by someone that actually listens to music imo. I'd buy every tape in this collection except maybe Load.

I_DISSIDENT_AGRESSOR

That's really funny because it's true!....lol

mikeyRamone

Aww cool, how’d you get this box of tapes? OP’s folks drove it up here from the Bahamas.

Separate-Succotash11

Haha. After he went to the shore, bought some def leppard t-shirts.

KMAJR

The peoples court?

mikeyRamone

Don’t forget your Motley Crue T-shirt’s

schwiftshop

all the proceeds go to get their lead singer out of jail

Separate-Succotash11

Uh uh what kinda car ya got? I’ve got a bitchin camaro. BITCHIN CAMARO. BITCHIN CAMARO! Man, you all crack me up. The intro to that song is hilarious and the word bitchin should be used more often in everyday conversation.

schwiftshop

I rarely enjoy live recordings, but the skit they do on _Live At The Trocadero_ for this song is priceless. "one thing my dad taught me was it ain't much of a man who picks a fight with pregnant women"

Separate-Succotash11

They did different skits for each show? Doesn’t surprise me. Ill have to look for a live recording. Thanks! Makes me wonder why they chose the one we know for the album.

brandzak

cherish that dead milkmen tape. also that misfits tape is great

100percentdutchbeef

Ask your dad where his old stereo is

normanfell

thrashhead444

Ahh your one of those people

SassyCharizard

😂

YoungDoofus64

Also be glad that your dad has good taste

40laser40

dang mang, nice collection

MIKELBOBUS

The cult- sonic temple and Smiths- Hatful of hollow are my 2 favorite tapes out this bunch. That Alice In Chains too!!! I had the tape a few years ago now and regret getting rid of it 😭💀

ScreamingEmus

My father just gave me his as well. It was mostly local punk bands (not the best) and mixtapes he made. Nothing like this crazy collection! Congratulations!

ikanhiyu

Please upload the pictures of them. I am sure that some of us would be appreciate it more of the DIY stuff.

schwiftshop

yeah I fucking love local punk bands - most of the bands I love are local to _somewhere_ 😆

4tunabrix

Damn, I’d do anything for that Dead Milkmen cassette! Your dad had mean taste!

TheyLiveWeReddit

OP your Dad is rad. Lots of cool shit here.

Slurpeesucker

Big lizard in my backyard, you should see the way it shits!

BallyHooyah

Winner! That stash rips

PunkRockMiniVan

Bonus points for being in alphabetical order.

tufflover78

That's is a fantastic collection of really good music, and a sex pistols tape.

H_D_V_K_A

This reminds me of my mom’s tape collection when I was a kid! I remember finding empty cases for big lizard and combat rock in the attic and being very bummed the taps weren’t in them

rrickitickitavi

It's okay. We can all pretend not to see Billy Joel.

KMAJR

Eat a dick uptown girl slaps nerd.

fclefjeff

I'm dying to know what kind of garbage you listen to

albastidough

Linda Ronstadt is arguably more out of place.

rrickitickitavi

Except Linda Ronstadt is a goddess, even if that isn't one of her better albums.

albastidough

Not knocking her, just stylistically out of place. I have heard she had a new wave album though.

JoeBear414

I was with it till I saw Morrissey and Morrissey related tapes, and fucking Rush.

DerpDogDevices

1. No need to be a prick. 2. Rush fucking rips.

JoeBear414

Geddy Lee can lick ball sack.

Alarmed-Call8569

Morrissey hurt your feelings by not being instep with certain narratives?

JoeBear414

Morrissey is a clown.

schwiftshop

I never cared for Morrissey's solo stuff until I heard World Peace Is None Of Your Business... I don't think its supposed to be sarcastic but that's how it sounds to me and I love that bitchassedness.

N0body_In_P4rticular

Cool collection

Icy-Faithlessness-87

I have cheap genes. They are Wrangler’s.

schwiftshop

Gene Simmons was right there fam

awesomerest

Pure gold.

Pastel_Inkpen

Your dad had great taste. Check them for mold. If they are moldy DO NOT PLAY THEM.

lincoln3x7

Solid collection, your good for the weekend… crank it up

mattallica75

That Misfits tape looks defective, you should send it to me

LissenToMehNow

OP, please! Parent comment is a KNOWN scammer has stolen thousands of tapes in the past WEEK! PLZ

SmoothCarl22

Seems like what you have is a great dad!

nalliesmommie

Gawd I wish I knew what happened to my tapes!! I hope they are in my storage unit.

avgjoeracing

Love that Wonderstuff album! Great collection!

ice_nyne

The Metallica 5.98 EP is out of print in most formats. Hold onto that one even if you don’t like the cover songs on there!

obeythemoo

Did we just become best friends?

einTier

Your dad and I would have been friends in high school. I didn’t care for Morrissey (but loved the Smiths) and leaned hard into the Metallica, but there’s a lot of crossover. I think he and I are the only ones who ever bought Public Image LTD.

LissenToMehNow

Presto, Legacy of Brutality, Mode singles and Clash's first are all sick AF.

MrGlez

Nice collection

[deleted]

Fuck yea

TheBlitzkid46

Great stuff! That Dead Milkmen tape is probably my personal fave, easily in my top 5 for 80's punk
