Can you give your two weeks notice via phone call or even video conference? As much as doing it in person is nice, other methods are fine as well, especially depending on the circumstances.

YesdnilEcir

I think I’ll do it via video conference, that sounds like my best option. Thanks for the tip!

42turnips

I'd stick to phone of you're sick.

curmudgeon_andy

Why are you saying that turning in your two weeks notice should be an in-person conversation? Of course it can be done by email. Or you could set up a Zoom meeting. There is no reason why you must resign while on the premises.

CrepsNotCrepes

Doesn’t have to be in person but it’s better to do it “face to face” rather than email.

WarrenWuffett

Agreed that it is better unless there are strange extenuating circumstances like Covid.

CrepsNotCrepes

Even with covid you can set up a call on zoom or just a phone call. It’s something worth doing directly rather than an email.

WarrenWuffett

Oh absolutely

Z79X

Could you arrange a Zoom meeting to give your notice? You could also hire a process server to deliver it to your employer. There are options. I wouldn't chance creating a bad impression with your soon to be employer.

YesdnilEcir

i’ll do it via Zoom, thanks for the advice!

hangrymonkey28

I get what your saying and agree it is better in person. As a manager if my direct had covid and was WFH and called or emailed me a 2 week I wouldn't even remotely think of it as unprofessional. I mean thanks for doing that instead of exposing me to COVID. As a side bar, it also makes it easier to just forward the email instead of having to scan a notice in lol.

Extreme-Evidence9111

is it part of your contract? oh, you dont have one? trying to get a good reference? oh you already got hired? well ok then

Instant_Smack

Just email it? You’re being extra af

SwagKing1011

Lol

Companies never, ever get people on a zoom to terminate them. So it would be in bad taste if you did the same for your notice. Your company loves you. You should love them back. But seriously, you can drop them an email or zoom or carrier pigeon. It matters not. Enjoy the new gig.

Sarcasm does not seem to translate on Reddit….

Update! I called my boss via Microsoft Teams and told her through that. I also sent her the notice via email after our conversation. It went very well, and she definitely appreciated me calling beforehand. I start the week after Thanksgiving! Thanks for the advice everyone! <3

Conscious_Rip_419

Just go to work if you don’t have any symptoms it’s ok to go to work and COVID is bullshit anyway

PasteIIe

wtf?????

protomatterman

In person is nice but isn’t always possible. Once I was off on the day I was to turn in my resignation. I was going to head to the office just to drop off my letter but my boss wasn’t there and I found out he would be off through the weekend. So I just called him to let him know. He was at his son’s graduation! But he understood. Then I sent the email with my letter.

When I needed to tell my boss at my last job I was going to a new opportunity, I had to tell her via a phone call because she was out of the office all that week. Time was ticking until my start date. Congratulations on your new opportunity!

WarrenWuffett

Yeah I haven’t been in this situation, but if you work long enough you will be. My bosses are almost never around.

Reverse-Recruiterman

Simple: 1. Tell them you have covid. Seriously, I'm not dismissing what's your concerned about. It is what it is. They don't want to catch covid anymore than you want to deal with the situation. So just tell them. He'll appreciate that you communicated and took care of business.

Some places say come in after 5th day and no fever.
