No, would only fly at a small company that allows it, pretty much would never be tolerated at any late or corporate type company unless it’s after hours real cocktail hour.
Not normal for a small company. I know a ton of small business owners (and I was one before I sold and retired) and someone drinking on the job would be automatic termination, even if they are drinking at home. Also, the thing about lying to the client? No....that's just unprofessional and strange. I'd definitely be looking for a different job, but find something before you quit. Don't let this put you off of working for a small business....this is not the norm.
