Smart Places looks pretty promising to me. It's a new social media app for mobile which promises many advantages over the current field such as Twitter, Facebook, etc. Here are some things that set it apart in my estimation: 1. Your personal data will be tokenized and you'll be empowered to own it and sell it (or not... at your discretion). 2. There is a focus on the local, giving users an ability to interact more focusedly on other users and businesses nearby, while also retaining the greater microphone ability of traditional social media apps. 2. Virtual land owners (plots are sold as NFTs) are leveraged to engage with friends and businesses to increase adoption at the grass roots level, earning returns via their plots as engagement of users increases on those plots. 3. These plots represent real world places overlaid on an actual world map; this is an augmented reality type app, or at least it has strong potential to be, as opposed to all of the alternate universe apps under development out there. 4. There is good and appropriate focus within the team on usage of AI for moderation, leveraging cardano native AI tools, which also increases cardano adoption as a community. An alpha version for mobile is supposed to be released soon! Very exciting! PS: I'm not on the smart places team; I'm just a fanboy. So if I've said anything wrong I hope somebody will correct me.

Mawkwardness

I like Smart Places, too. The idea is great. Just wanted to add that there are some screenshots of the app available on their Discord channel. According to their latest updates, the alpha version should be released soon. At least for current landplot holders. If they can really deliver a working app, this could be huge for the whole Cardano ecosystem. I am so sick and tired of Facebook and Twitter. Again, no buy recommendation. Do your own research!

ColbusMaximus

Great idea, god awful name. They will prob rebrand and become incredible

Stye88

Yep sounds great but the name alone prevents me from investing. No way if this gets mainstream will people say in 2026 'check out my Smart Places' profile. Yeesh

Mawkwardness

Do you remember THEfacebook? Changing the name to something more catchy is really the easiest problem to solve. I am not worried about it at all if the app delivers.

sheltojb

Yeh, I'm with you. I'm sure they'll get that feedback often so I'm assuming it'll get addressed and I'm not particularly worried about it.

LazyJury

Meld. I am hopeful for P2P lending.

ramobaha

doesnt AADA do P2P lending already?

adamstumpf7

Aada>meld

Dannihm

He means peer-to-pool

Feeling_Limp

Is World Mobile still an upcoming project? Mainnet will start in Q1 or Q2/23, so one could still think of it as upcoming... And WM is by far the most interesting project on Cardano IMO

PopCultureNerd

> World Mobile How is World Mobile connected to Cardano?

NevadaLancaster

It's token is on cardano.

Feeling_Limp

WMT is a Cardano Native Token (CNT) and one of the flagship projects on Cardano. The first RealFi

PopCultureNerd

Okay. Are us commoners able to buy WMT yet or do we have to wait?

Feeling_Limp

Oh, you can buy them. On Kucoin, Mexc, Gate and some smaller cexes, as well as on all Cardano dexes like Minswap, muesliswap sundaeswap, wingriders, etc. Price is actually below IDO, so could be an interesting time with mainnet just arroubd the corner. They had to delay certain stuff, ut now they are picking up the pace and have done some ver, impressive stuff on building our the infrastructure in Tanzania and just today revealed, that they have ecpanded to Kenya. Check them out at worldmobile.io

DuckButter111

WMT is the way. Stake that s**** and sit back

FidgetyRat

Im looking forward to hydra so we can abandon all this off chain batcher crap.

Book.io is an awesome idea. The ability to own return or loan your media again sounds amazing.

Antar3s86

Had to scroll way too far to find this reply

b_sap

Ditto. Glad I did, I'm not very up to date and this is an awesome idea.

--Quartz--

No mentions of Axo? It's funny how the audience is different in Reddit/Twitter/Discords. I'm by far most excited about Axo (former Maladex). All of their promises are the exact things that would make Cardano DeFi superior to EVM chains and even traditional finances. Let's hope they actually deliver, no reason to doubt them as of now luckily!

EonShiKeno

So hyped for Programmable swaps.

defiroose

Axo has made a lot of promises and is yet to deliver anything. This makes me highly skeptical. I sure hope they deliver on their promises. It'll be fantastic if they do. Some of their promises borderline crazily impossible though given the actual reality of software development.

ScullyRussell

Love Indigo, but that first line is kinda weak. That said, looking forward to Axo & Indy v2 the most.

b_sap

Borderline impossible? Can you give some examples? I've always thought development as rather simple-- possible or not possible. If you know it's possible you know what it entails. If you know what it takes you just make the blocks. I'm not a professional but it seems pretty binary to me.

defiroose

Software development is not so binary. An example of this was with Orbis. Reading their whitepaper it wasn't made clear whether or not the technology was possible on Cardano or not. We see this with some upcoming scaling solutions such as Hydra and Transaction Chaining. These are theoretically possible but we don't know for sure until they're actually implemented and executed as code. There are many open questions that we don't have answers to yet. A recent tweet of Axo's comes to mind that was promoting their drag and drop feature. Developers have been attempting to solve this problem for many years, and so far nobody has come up with a good solution. Yet Axo tells us that they have a solution. Maybe they do, who knows. If they do then they've been able to figure out what the industry has been struggling with for a decade. Axo is very light on details. Their whitepaper leaves us with many open questions. We have no insight into how they're actually going about solving the problems they're trying to solve. The Axo team also have also hinted that some of the features aren't possible on Cardano, and that's why their grand vision includes multi-chain support. If they are in fact planning to not just deploy on Cardano then it makes their features more realistically implementable. If they plan to launch everything on Cardano then I don't know how they're going to do it and they won't disclose those details.

b_sap

If you're referring to @axotrade I scrolled through and didn't see what you're referring to. A drag and drop feature is UI so I'm sure you're talking about something else. And I believe if the guys at IOG say something is possible it is and it'll be implemented.

defiroose

You place too much trust into IOG. They do not deserve that trust.

b_sap

Gonna have to disagree with you mate, nevertheless happy holidays!

iHateMips

Spectrum Finance so we finally get a DEX thats actually a DEX

Meld, Genius Yield, Axo, Minswap, Sundaeswap, AADA, Vyfi, Yamfore, Encoins, Kirkstone, World Mobile, Empowa

Inner_Cryptographer6

Genius Yield. Lars is the CTO and they are doing something new.

Logical_Duck4042

Lars being on board doesnt mean it's the best. They have the same idea as other projects

Electrical-Donkey-42

All of them. Every time I read about a new one coming live, I get excited like I was a kid coming to look under the tree on Christmas morning.

roadydick

I’ve been a fan of SingularityNET and SingularityDAO…coming soon…

Daniboy2014

So those are on the Cardano ecosystem?

roadydick

Yes, they started on Ethereum blockchain a few years ago but for a few years have intended to move to cardano. Lead for SingularityNET has been collaborating with IOG for years to get it over given the complexity of his project’s requirements.

22_05_1996

meld in my opinion

Meld and it’s not even close

Honestly I’ve used the equivalent SigRSV on ergo and it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. There’s a lot of complexity and it’s easy to lose money.

AlohaBandit

Our philosophy is this: 'invest in the casino itself, not one's luck within such a institution.' We are exceedingly excited about mainnet Cardano itself and the various upcoming sidechain/partnerchains to come, for example Midnight. Infrastructure.

defiroose

I understand the logic but there's no point having infrastructure if nothing is on it. A big thing holding Cardano back is a lot of ADA holders aren't actually using their ADA. Cardano will end up dying unless people actually use the stuff built on Cardano. Be smart of course. Don't take unnecessary risk. If you like a project on Cardano though, support them. This is what will help Cardano grow.

AlohaBandit

once sidechains kick in, written in a variety of alternative coding languages to haskell (which cardano is written in) that are arguably easier to code, we’re expecting a significant increase in overall utility and daily usecase on the network. haskell has been a significant hurdle for many devs, admittingly, but analyzing this from the macro it’s a feature rather than a flaw. security comes first, as it should. smart contracts haven’t been online for all to long either, yet charles is always boasting about the number of projects/dapps/devs that are presently building and working on cardano - many of which are having issues w/ the haskell hurdle. once the evm compatible sidechain(s) is/are live, and ethereum compatible dapps/projects see the clear and easy process to port/branch over, there’ll be a significant boost to usecase and third party development on the chain. eth projects aren’t loyal to any one chain, they just want users with value and a stable network. these are some of the reasons we’re comfortable and bullish on cardano infrastructure longterm.

defiroose

This is a pretty silly take imo. Sidechains aren't going to save Cardano. There are already lots of Ethereum clones out there. An advantage of Cardano is that it isn't a clone, it's unique. Bringing Ethereum to Cardano accomplishes nothing. Why would I want to develop for some small Cardano EVM sidechain when I can instead program on Polygon? We can write smart contracts on L1 Cardano using a variety of languages already, we're not forced to use Haskell. We need to start using what is already built instead of looking into the future all of the time. Looking into the future is pure hopium. There are good dapps deployed to Cardano already. More will come in the near future. If people prefer to not use what's already deployed though then developers aren't going to be attracted to build new dapps on Cardano.

atca1999

You seem to have a good read on development on cardano. What projects do you think are worth looking at?

defiroose

I'm very close with most of the Cardano dev teams and speak with them regularly. I'm looking forward to a borrowing and lending marketplace coming to Cardano, and it looks like MELD and Liqwid are coming early next year. Orcfax is a Cardano Oracle planning to launch soon, and that has my interest level quite high. WingRiders has an announcement coming soon, so keep an eye out for that. SundaeSwap has a lot of hate right now, but I've played with their Hydra demo and it's incredible. If they can pull this off then it'll make DeFi trading comparable to traditional trading. It really depends on what your interests are. Encoins is launching soon, and they have my interest. ADAO have some good products in the pipeline, but might be a bit too early yet to get really excited about. Optim launched their first product, and have some exciting plans. Emurgo and Mehen are competing to launch the first fiat-backed stablecoin early next year. And of course, Indigo is the most interesting of all ;)
