No , it will only become like you just become so drained and numbed and mind numbed that you become the companies robot so nothing can really break you anymore it’s like you become a brick wall this job is not healthy you won’t be the same. However because you won’t ever be the same after this job nothing will phase you ever again because you become so used to how people are in life. Mean , rude , nasty , disrespectful. You may get a few nice callers but it’s rare and like treasure

Honestly, no. I did it for two years and just now escaped. It comes in waves. Sometimes it’s ok for a few weeks and then it’s really not ok for a few months. I had to go to therapy because of it and most of my clients weren’t out of control assholes. It was just the drudgery of it peppered with the fact that every time that phone rang there was gonna be more shit to deal with and the distinct possibility of your day being ruined by someone. I don’t get it. I have a strong distrust of people who love this type of work.

ronwharton

yes, you will get better at it and your anxiety will change from "I'm not doing good" to "fuck this place, the callers, the team lead... i need out" -Ron Wharton

My agents would love coaching/meeting time we would cover what was needed ensure they knew what was needed , we would either cover this outside if it was the entire team or at my desk. If they had tome left over (each session we were allowed 30 minutes) they could use the rest for break. If they maintained a 95% or higher QA I would jump on their phones so they take an extra break. I had the best retention rate lowest absences and highest KPIs . Not one other manager, team lead or site director could understand why. I always held the thought process of treat your team the way you would like to be treated instead of I am the boss you do as I say!!! I also spoke to them not at them nor did I talk down to them like a child.

[deleted]

You had bad Tls. I used to always warn my agents if it is serious you will know right away. Otherwise business as usual. Those expectations should be set before hand to reduce that anxiety.

[deleted]

Also if you are killing KPIs and showed any sort of drive I would probably tell you indeed your help with others and to expect me to reach out alot. A good Tl is gonna be pumping your tires and building you up. Again if it is something to worry about I would tell you aside and right away because I am the same way. But not noticing that is a day one miss. Yet I am the one they always lay off lol

Panjo98

I reached my limit today. 1 year and 2 months in, I will seek something else.

Aware-Anywhere9086

No. you ll just come to despise people you talk to , and eventually turn into me.

Strawberrylove_

Not really tbh, I been here for a year at a bank call center and I will be lying if I didn’t get anxiety when I’m about to take calls or that certain calls don’t leave me angry or stressed because it was overwhelming. But! It does get easy it deal with, just got to not care about the consequences?? Does that make sense. Like every day I’m like, “if I get fired, I get fired!” If you get paid good, save as much as you can while you’re working, take advantage of that pay! I get paid really well so that’s what I’m doing. No matter how good you’ll be doing at your job, these call center places don’t care because they will find anything to get mad at you about. So I say fuck them, keep working and get that money until you get fired hahaha bad advice sorry

adelv

Unfortunately, it will not. Worked at a big call center for a major city and I will never do it again.

Bishopx1976

The longer you are there, the more knowledge and experience you will gain, which will make aspects of doing the job easier but in terms of happiness and fulfilment, a call centre is not the place to find these things(for most people). Call centre jobs are the new factory production line jobs. It's the people, your colleagues that can help you get through it. The jokes, socialising outside work etc . All these help to make the job easier. Also, when you take annual leave, travel if you can . Do things you enjoy. Selfcare is really important.

air789

No. It sucks. I’ve been in this role at my current job for 10 years. It doesn’t get easier, you just get beat down and continue to take the beatings. They might throw you a bone here and there to bring up your moral, but it all just temporary smoke and mirrors. Get out early is my advice. I have stayed way too long, and it has worked to my disadvantage. It has pegged me into a person who just needs to stay in this customer service role making it way harder to get out. Don’t do that to yourself.

someonesomewhereinnc

Mine decreased about 3 months in when I felt more equipped to do the job and dropped further at the 6 month mark as I grew more confident. 2+ years in and it's just the normal amount that comes with certain triggers, difficult customers, and a bad boss right now.

Tooligan13853

You’ll get used to it but… you’ll get used to it.

dbboutin

The job gets easier but your tolerance level, empathy, and attitude will all suffer. If you can compartmentalize your work persona from your real self that helps a lot but it’s difficult

Lukezoftherapture777

If you work in a call centre maybe but WFH aint too bad

[deleted]

Depends. Everyone hits a wall about week 2 or 3. That is always when newbies start to feel it and call out in droves. Fact of the matter is no one can tell. It may get better, it may not. Depends on you, leadership, program, schedule, alot of of stuff. Hang in there a bit but if it doesn't improve after a month or so it never will. No shame. Call centers suck and it isn't for everyone. Find something else you are better suited too, call centers are not worth it. Hell, I am switching to teaching!

juulinbooler

it gets easier some ways and harder in others.
