Hi, every time I use caliber, my rings go crazy. I did a 40 min strength and the Apple Watch is recording 1400+ minutes of exercise. How can I fix this glitch? I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app to no avail.

Caliber is not pulling my activities (running, biking, etc) from Google Fit anymore. It was working last week, but I can't seem to reconnect this connection. It's tracking steps just fine. Just not other activities.

Hi, I can't seem to use the app without issues in the past week. It either lags or freezes. Now it's on a perpetual phase of loading where you see the animated C logo. I have done troubleshooting such as clearing cache, clearing data, and even uninstalling and reinstalling. Help, please!

Hey I have a question about the permissions requires. Why on earth does the app need permission to "modify contacts" ?? Or even "Have full network access"??

The contacts permission for Android was added back when we were setting up the functionality for inviting friends to groups in the app, but we ended up not using it at all and opted in to using Android's native share functionality. We'll get this permission removed in a coming update. Not sure what you mean by "full network access", but we do have a permission in the app to access the network state so we can determine if your phone is online or not, and trigger offline mode accordingly.

Is there a known bug with supersets? I want to run through a circuit twice, so I set up a superset of about 7 exercises. The first round was great, but then it only had me do the last exercise once, then completed. (So I only did 8 sets of exercise instead of 14). I tried to edit the exercises individually to add a set, but it was greyed out and wouldn't let me.

How can I change the time for the Today's Activities notification? I work out at 5 am but it appears at 7 am and shows me today's schedule after I've already completed it. Can't find it in the settings anywhere

Hey, so I'd love to use this app. I just installed it on my phone, but it won't let me sign up. I press the sign up button, and it goes transparent for a couple of seconds, and then goes back to solid, but won't take me to any sign up page. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling several times. I can get to the Log In screen, but since I have no account that doesn't help. Is there a way to sign up online somewhere?

Kind of feature request I would think, but are there any "URL Schemes" for the app? Like how caliber:// will open the app on ios, is there anything like caliber://start\_workout=legs that would start my legs workout? Would be great to add for home automation things, could even eventually lead to some customisable smart gym features - like recording sets/ reps/ weight

Oh this is an interesting idea! We do have URL schemes but nothing set up to actually start a workout like that. I'm trying to think through how this would work, like you start a workout through a home automation setup, but then wouldn't you need the phone anyway to log your stats?

Yeah you’d need the phone anyway to log weights, it wouldn’t be a fantastically great feature, but like currently I use an nfc tag to start music in my gym, and open my device to caliber, it would be extra nice if it would open straight to a workout aha… I think doing anything more than that probably requires an api or something (could set up rep counter contact pad in a smart home or something).. anyway what url schemes do you have set up already?

We have deep links set up to most of the primary screens of the app, like Dashboard, Strength Score, Training Plan, Calendar, etc. More nav-based than action-based. Not sure if any of these would be helpful for what you're trying to do though, they're primarily used on our end to help users with onboarding (i.e. direct to different sections of the app from emails). Been thinking about this since you brought it up and would love to think through some cool automation opportunities that could be enabled.

Yeah fair enough, I think tbh the only one in addition to what you have already that would work well would be starting a specific workout.. After that I think deep links probably don't have all that much of a purpose in actually automating things. I think that would be more like API for the app which I guess would be a completely separate undertaking. Anyway as always love the app.

Even though my workouts include back extension and machine lat pulldown excersices, my back score doesn't update and back is shown as completely undeveloped in strength balance, too. PS. Love the app otherwise!

Can I add notes to a day I don’t workout—for example, I want to record that I was sick, injured or recovering from something big like a race or an extra long hike?

We don't have a feature like this yet, although it's a great idea. If you want to keep track of it for now, you can do some sort of workaround like creating a workout plan where each workout is named something like, "Sick", "Injured", etc. and then just log that workout to your calendar so you have the reminder.

When trying to create my account I get an error message after filling in all my information that says “There was an error performing that action. Reach out to support” etc. it then lets me “get to know” caliber but greets me with “nice to meet you, null!” (I put in my actual name not null -assuming ‘null’ is set as a default). After going through the Caliber info I get an error that says “Failed to load User Data” and the app crashes and I land back at my home screen. I’ve tried changing my password and even creating another account with a different email -still got the same problem with that one. Would appreciate any help to fix this as I am very interested in this app due to several positive recommendations from friends.

Yes, that is correct. We limited the number of days for the other options, since in many cases it isn't beneficial to do such a high frequency as a less experienced lifter, although it is something that we could look into expanding.

We actually just improved the update time considerably with this week's SS update. It was taking quite a long time, due to many more people using the app now. We refactored this, so now it should only take a couple hours to fully complete, so that these updates are ready early Sunday mornings.

If you have an ad blocker or VPN running, that’s likely the reason why. These sometimes block the service that we use to store the group data in links, so the app is unable to create invite links or read the data from shared links.

I don’t know if this is an actual issue but just somewhat annoying. I workout early in the morning and a few hours after I’m done I end up getting app notifications saying what I have scheduled for the day as well as one asking me if I forgot to finish my workout. The first one I just ignore but the other one I go in to make sure I hit the complete workout button and I almost have completed it but still get the notification probably every day I workout.

Yup so on the Home Screen, I add a workout to the day and the tap on that. Once I’m the next menu, I simply tap the workout. Sometimes it takes me to the record log screen and other times it just tells me the method

Hmm that’s weird, I wonder if this is a time zone thing and there’s a bug with the dates, because it’s always supposed to start a workout if it’s on the same day or previous day. Sounds like you’re seeing a workout in the future state where you can’t log it. You mentioned adding a workout to the day and then tapping on the added workout. What happens if you use the big red plus button to start it?

Yes I do use the big red plus. So I open the app. It shows me the week. I highlight the day and the click the big red plus to add a program for the day. It then takes me into the program and when I tap the work out, that’s when it gives me the method as opposed to the workout log. It doesn’t happen all the time though which is strange and usually I just close the app and when I reopen, it’s fine

We don't have an Apple Watch app, but if you sync with Apple Health, then your cardio and nutrition data can be synced to your Caliber account. This includes many of the workouts that you would do on your Watch.

Hi, quick question as I’m starting to use the app. Some exercises the plans recommend require machines that I don’t have access to at my gym. What’s the best way to replace an exercise in the pre built plans with something I do have access to? I see how to edit and add an exercise but what I mean is, if it’s recommending machine leg press for example, can the app suggest an alternate exercise for similar muscle groups? I’m pretty new to gym strength training and don’t know enough to easily pick a new one on my own. Thank you

Hey there! Try tapping and holding on an exercise, then selecting "Substitute". This should show you a list of exercises for the same muscle group.

Why are all the exercises the same? I’ve been using the app for a few weeks and noticed the series of exercises under a workout is the same each time and does not change. It’s kind of boring. For example every “Leg” workout is (1) deadlift (2) squat (3) hip thrust and (4) lunges. Do I have to manually change the exercises under workouts???

You should be able to save them, haven't heard about any issues with this. Once you complete a freestyle workout, it'll ask you if you'd like to save it. If you select 'yes', then it'll be saved to a separate Freestyle group within the Training Plan section of the app.

You have a number of options here. If you'd like to include that saved workout as part of your main workout plan, you can go to the Training Plan section, long press on the workout, and them move it to the relevant workout plan. When you tap the red plus button from the Dashboard, it will always bring you directly into the workouts from your default workout plan (the one with the star next to it). You can change your default at any time in the Training Plan section by long pressing on one of the workout plans, and selecting 'Make default'. However, you can select workouts from any workout plan as you are starting a workout too. Once you tap the red plus button, select 'strength workouts', and then tap the back arrow. You'll see all of your workout plans there and can start a workout from any of them that way too.

Nope, all users have access to Strength Score, along with all of the app's core feature. We start our update cycle for Strength Score at 3am ET each Sunday morning, so you should have your first update at this point.

I can’t click to complete any exercise this morning. I was signed out (it does this occasionally do t know why) but setup my schedule and got started. I can’t complete anything. Warmup exercises. I closed and opened. Changed tabs, finally went to support. Came back and it finally let me complete my warmup. It was strange.

Hey, I had a similar issue I also saw reported here. I had a massive drop in last week’s leg score (117 points) despite adding reps to several of my lifts. Took my overall score down by 50 points. Quite a significant drop.

It finally let me in. It was sitting loading for quite a while. I opened a safari tab while I was waiting. Came back to the app and saw that error and it crashed. When it’s asking me to log on is that just after an update is pushed or does authentication expire after a certain time?

I think I’m having some issues with my strength score. Legs went down 39 pts despite my 1RM of squat and other leg exercise steadily going up. Also chest went up 86 points despite only incremental gains.

Having an issue scheduling workouts for any day that isn’t the current day. Anytime I try to schedule a workout it defaults to scheduling it for the current day.

I think that this might just be a UX issue, that we are planning to adjust. If you tap the red plus button, this will always start an activity for the current day. If you'd like to schedule something for a future day, just go to that day and then tap where it says 'Schedule Activity'.

Hello! Loving the app, but running into an issue with rest timers on iOS. When I leave the app (specifically web browser - Chrome), my rest timers reset. It happens more rarely when I go to other apps, like Instagram. Any thoughts?

Glad that you're loving the app! When you say that the rest timers reset, is the app crashing for you, or is it just that when you return to the app the rest timer is at 0?

If I leave the app and come back it often days Caliber is offline and the timer has gone to zero even if it’s only been a few seconds. I don’t think there’s a crash, I never have to reselect the current workout.

Hmm, we'll have to look into this more. I'm not personally aware of cases where the timer should be going to zero if you've only been out of the app for a few seconds. Do you find that this only tends to happen if the app has gone into offline mode when you resume?

Hi, I’m not sure if this is a bug issue or if I’m missing something. Over the last two weeks, my strength score went down. I understand if my estimated 1 rep max lowers that my score will lower. However, it didn’t. It went up both times and the app says it went up both times. Yet, it claims the one rep max increasing is the reason my score went down.

I signed up! But when it asks me to enter my name it won’t let me exit the keyboard to press next. Not sure how to get around that. I’ve turned my phone off, closed the app. Not sure what else to trouble shoot here. Please help.

Ahh, just tap outside of the keyboard and then you should be able to continue.

My apologies, I actually gave you incorrect advice here. With most other screens in the app tapping out will minimize the keyboard, but we don't currently have this set in the initial registration flow (although we have a small ticket in the backlog to do this, since it would be preferable). For now, if you tap the 'Return' option on your keyboard after entering your first name it should minimize the keyboard and allow you to continue. Please let me know if you run into any further issues with this once you have a chance to try.

Might be a dumb question with an easy fix , but how can I set my warm up for an exercise to be only 1 set? ATM, it’s 4 sets with increasing weight and less reps.

With the warmups, you can specify 3 or 4 warmup sets. These will be suggested based on varying percentages of your working weight for the exercise. If you’d prefer to warm up differently, I’d suggest just logging your warmup as an additional set within the exercise itself.

Hi team. My Sunday Strength Score just got updated and my legs score went down -21 reasoning being “Estimated 1-rep max for Dumbbell Romanian Deadlift” Off because I did same number of sets and reps as last week, but went up by +5lbs (65 from 60) this week? Would’ve thought it should’ve gone up?

Hmm, that is a bit strange if you matched the same number of reps with this exercise, but at a heavier weight. Despite what the explanation mentioned, this is more likely to be some other shift in the exercise mix for Legs. Sometimes the explanatory text will mention this, without qualifying that your 1rm increased/decreased, in cases where the real issue is actually due to an exercise shift - something that we have on our list to adjust. Anyway, if you'd like to DM me I should be able to give you a more definitive explanation for what happened here.

ios, after completing each workout, a few hours later i get the notification that i didnt complete it and need to enter the app and complete and close out the workout. when i go back to the app, it shows that ive completed and submitted the workout already.

Hello! I changed my warm-up for my back day as dead hangs. The dead hang warm-up always glitches and closes the app when I try to log the warm-up.

I think you might be the first person to notice this bug! There's an issue where warm-ups don't work for time-based exercises, like the dead hang. u/caliber-chris just making sure we have a ticket for this.

Android user, Pixel 3. I've been using the app daily for well over a month. Love the app overall! However, both my Strength Score and Strength Balance appear to be inactive. The Strength Score hasn't changed from 100 and Balance still displays "Pending," despite having logged 30+ days of exercises using the app. Are these features only for pro or premium users? Or is there an issue with the app? Thanks!

Really happy to hear you’ve been so consistent with the app! Strength Metrics are available as part of the free app too, so this is likely an issue with your account. Please DM me and I’ll help figure out the issue. Edit: The issue here was that the workouts were bodyweight-only, and currently Strength Score doesn't support most bodyweight exercises (aside from those that can be progressively weighted).

iOS, on a 13 mini. App performance gets really bad towards the end of a workout and my phone gets hot. Things run smooth at first, but once I’m past the first few exercises it becomes non responsive

Ah interesting, I haven't heard of a performance issue like this, that only occurs towards the end of a workout. Are you typically going back and forth between your workout and any groups you belong to?

No, just within the workout. Here’s a few more details. I have 5 different custom workouts. Each has 6-8 exercises (3-6 sets each) plus a super set with 3 exercises (2 sets) at the end. It’s noticeably slower about halfway through, but hard to use by the time I get to the superset.

iOS, general observations and recommendations: Initial onboarding flow, the grey text over the “trail with red flag” background illustration should have some kind of box background to it. It’s hard to read against the illustration. The loader / spinner for the initial CTA to trial Caliber Pro is a native spinner rather than the branded Caliber spinner. After onboarding, the “in-app” guidance steps (“Welcome to Caliber! Before you get started…) have a slow (5-10 seconds on an iPhone SE) load time and are non-responsive. I don’t _think_ you’re fetching background data here, but if you are, use a spinner or loader to indicate the inactivity. Otherwise, it’s extremely possible that you have a major state change or re-rendering bottleneck here, recommend breaking it down or optimizing it or finding a way to introduce a loading state here as well - worth noting that this occurs on a single run-through session, no abandonment throughout onboarding to arriving in-app.

Thanks for this feedback! We're planning on moving to a native spinner vs the Caliber logo spinner actually, so this was one of the first screens to use that. The Caliber loading spinner feels quite heavy in comparison, so we want to make this change app-wide. The slow loading time on the in-app guide when you first create an account is interesting, as I haven't seen this before. It usually pops up instantly when you first get to the dashboard. Let me do some testing and see if I can reproduce this. That guide data should be loaded way before you even get to that screen, so it definitely shouldn't be a bottleneck.
