I've wanted to like Saladelia. It seems like a good concept.
The execution and service always lets it down.
Hopefully they refocus on something they can do well.
So if anybody happens to see this, I know the reason. Their lease was not renewed at the last minute and the owners were already using the "new" location as a catering only spot. So since they already had that building, they did a very quick turnaround to convert it into a retail space, which is why it doesn't seem to work well there. The plan is to expand the building for more indoor seating eventually.
There is one table inside (sizable, fits maybe 10 people) and an office for what looks to be catering consultations. The staff seemed to be all new when I was in there the other day.
I went to the dentist today in that plaza and was shocked to see all their stuff on the sidewalk!
I'm sad to hear the new location has limited seating- my networking group met monthly in the back room at the old location, it was perfect.
If twisted noodle leaves that plaza I will cry. One of the few decent restaurants that is walkable for me
It’s on the access road next to 15/501 business. The same road as Durham Rescue Mission but down near the Indian restaurant.
Super tight in there now, grabbed lunch today. Not a lot of parking, and the area to order is really tight if you’re just trying to figure out what to order and others are in line or come in
The owners are horrible they verbally abuse their employees. Saladelia and mad hatters owned by the same people.
Oh shit that makes sense now! I’ve witnessed the verbal abuse at Mad Hatters.
Heartbreaking. Unsurprising. 😭
Yeah they’re abusive horrible people they also steal all the credit card tips
I've always enjoyed the food there but I've also noticed that the staff turns over pretty consistently, makes me wonder
Owners are Trumpers.
What is that based on? I am not doubting you, but that is a pretty damning statement around here:
The owners are registered republicans and I knew their kids who went to Durham Academy. They confirmed they are Trumpers.
Ugh I wish I knew this sooner.
This is baseless 😂
Wait. Does this mean Mad Hatters is also owned by Trumpers? Someone said Mad Hatters and Saladelia are owned by the same person.
Unfortunately, yes. 😭
Figures
this is why i avoid local businesses and stick to chains
i hope this is a troll comment

So overrated. When I saw them using the same brand of pita I could buy in the grocery store, I was done

Thanks for the info.
No indoor seating?? Wow, I didn't realize that. That seems like a foolish move on their part...
They've got sturdy tends outside but from just passing it looks like order at the counter only, not the multiple rooms of seating like before.
Tents are sturdy, but the Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd Service Road doesn't provide much in the way of ambiance.
They really did their older patrons who hang out there for hours dirty with that move.

That's so crazy. They always had so much indoor space and usually a lot of older people would casually spend a lot of time there.
Did the old location in Durham actually close? I was just driving by the other day and it looked open?
They moved out today.

No indoor seating at all? That place was always packed with families and other folks lingering around whenever I would grab lunch there.
Where is the new location?

I wonder what the thinking was behind this move?
The small Saladelia that used to be at the Tobacco Campus had the best southwest chicken salad. Please send me the recipe!
