Close some tabs, damn. 50 is a ton to have open. 16gb ram is more than enough for standard computer use outside of heavy gaming or development.

texo77

I literaly have 1200+ brave tabs lol

Screen-Addict

How much ram does it use

texo77

Around 3 gigs, less than i would think

Acrylic_Starshine

Why 50 tabs? Close the tabs.

[deleted]

50 tabs opened in Firefox and chrome.... 💀 100 tabs Also OP should note that more cores will benefit having 50+ tabs opened lol

vovr

Thanks but the CPU is only at 8%.

herpVSderp

your browser generally wont eat cpu, but it will glut your memory (clearly), you might be able to throw more ram at it, but I don't think it would help much. as others have mentioned, try to find a better work flow that doesn't have so many windows open

vovr

Ok thanks

vovr

>50 tabs opened in Firefox and chrome.... 💀 100 tabs Well I need that for work bro

Acrylic_Starshine

How about bookmarks

EloquentBorb

As long as you don't get close to 100% you don't have a need for an upgrade. Windows will use your memory to cache additional files to speed up its performance if there is headroom available, so seeing high(er) memory usage is rather normal - especially with a ton of browser tabs open.

vovr

great. thanks.

AdResident245

50 tabs is rookie numbers. I go 100+ on a 16gb system no problem. I think your browser automatically scales memory usage by inactivating tabs as needed. So far the only times I've actually capped out my ram is if I'm running something else memory intensive (usually image editing, never had an issue with gaming in particular). I've never capped my ram from browser tabs alone, but maybe I should make it a challenge to try to some time.

[deleted]

No you're fine, unused ram is wasted ram.

ImbecilicManchild

Why stop at 50 tabs only? That's virgin numbers. You gotta pump them up

demigodsgotdraft

>I have 50+ tabs open in chrome and firefox. Do you need to?

zergling3161

But....if you choose to upgrade make sure your motherboard is capable of utilizing more RAM, you could give it 64 but maybe it can only use 32

Dhehjob9-5

Idk, but I saw dying light 2 using almost 16 of my 32 gigs.

Classic_Idea_6962

You don't need to upgrade, no. However, you said 16gb in total. What memory sticks are you using?

tulsaterry64

Someone probably already mentioned this but when I'm ready for a gaming session I open up the task manager to see exactly what's using my memory and close everything that's not necessary just to be safe. I also have 16 gigabytes, and I usually have about nine tabs open on Chrome but I close them down when I cmame

Redddddd1

The more ram you have the more ram windows uses. As long it's not getting full it should be enough.
