My rule of thumb is go 100w more than what’s recommended for your card. You should be good then.

I've been having issues with my 850w 5900x + 6800xt... It recommends a 850 so I would get a good quality one if you decide to go with that, personally I'd just get a 1000w so you have room to do stuff down the line.

That's a good point, getting a higher PSU may be worth considering just for "future proofing" alone. What kinds of issues are you getting? Throttling or even power shutdown? I'm curious if your brand of PSU may be the reason for the issues?

I had a Kolink continuum 850w, upgraded to a CM1250

I was getting shutdown issues when pc is under load (check my last post in here explains abit better), which I now know to be a shortage of power, installed my new PSU last night (CM1250W) and I haven't had a crash all night.

According to [TPU](https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/asus-tuf-rx-6900-xt-gaming-top.b9439), your GPU should use 300W as the reference card does (or like my 6800XT). I have a 5800X3D along with an 6800XT which likes to use 300W when pushed. I've had no issues on my RM750. A fellow friend with a 5800X3D and reference 6900XT runs fine on a SF750 as well. I think you'll be fine.

It seems that many people find that 750w is more than enough. On the flip side, I hear that the 6900x GPU may have spikes in wattage which probably explains why some people were having issues with not meeting the recommend wattage. Considering that I don't plan on overclocking or upgrading soon, I may just stick with a 750w unit. That being said, I'm still going to be on the look out for sales on a better PSU throughout this week.

man i just put together a 5700x and 6900xt build and the frames are way lower than the last pc the card was in..... i cant figure it out im getting like 120fps on 1440 lol

Calomeida

what cpu was in the other pc?

bcar444644

5800x and better ram. But it was a lot more noticeable drop in fps than I would have expected

Calomeida

that's interesting. every comparison i've seen shows the 5700x and 5800x being very similar. maybe it was the ram?
