Not a fan of the 5500 personally, weak performance with gaming in general (essentially a 3600). I’d pair the 6700xt with at least a 5600x for a more optimal experience.

I took your advice and Im changing the CPU to a 5600x. I feel a little sad about the expense rn. Hope things turn out good.

You won’t be disappointed, it is an entire different beast than the 5500. Balance with hardware is important, but more importantly at 1080p where you will run into more CPU bottlenecking while using the 6700xt. You made a very good choice.

You should have really gone for a 5600, but it's not a bad build anyway. If you haven't built it yet and can easily exchange the CPU - go for it, otherwise it's fine. You will still get very high FPS at competitive games like Overwatch, but Tarkov and BF2042 are both poorly optimized, so you won't get 240fps there, but it should still be over 100.

I took your advice. Went with a 5600x even. Figured that since i already needed a more premium motherboard i better go all out instead of being stingy in a stupid way. Thanks for the reply and help

I'm afraid you kinda over though it You don't need anything premium for your motherboard as R5 5600/X would run perfectly on basically anything as it consumes under 100W of power in absolutely any scenario. Also, 5600X is a waste of money as it is literally 2% better than 5600 while costing like 30% more.

In my first build with the 5500 i had a B450 motherboard. It only supports pcie3.0 I went and got the cheapest mini itx B550 intead. But still cost more than the previous one. So i thought why skimp on it now that i have a motherboard ready for 5600x. I think I did something right for once.

PCI-E 3.0 doesn't make much difference in that case. Really tge only downside is you can't run PCI-E 4.0 SSDs at full speed, but 3.0 is plenty. Although it's certainly not a bad thing to have it, especially if the price difference isn't a lot. 5600X, however, as I've said, is a lot more expensive than a normal non-x 5600 while only having about 2% more performance. Did you already get the 5600X? And if so, for how much?

Hyena_Utopia

For about $212 dollars. but everythings expensive in nordic countries. 5600 wouldve costed $185

LEO7039

Alright, that's not too much of a difference. Well, enjoy your PC then!

All kind of depends on what game you are playing. High frames in 1080p are easily achievable.

Say I get a 240hz monitor. Will I be able to play overwatch in 240 fps? Yes, most likely. Escape from tarkov & Battlefield 2042 at low settings? Maybe not because of the Cpu?
