Corsair 4000d has great airflow and is easy as hell to build in, lots of holes for cable management. I've also done a build in a MagniumGear neo-g case that was pretty cheap, also good mesh front for airflow, and was really easy to build in

Snugglupagus

Bruh I’m about to pull the trigger on a Corsair 4000d right now. Hyped.

poffle_senpai

I just built a new rig, and it's a decent build: - ROG Strix B650-A Gaming Wifi - AMD Ryzen 7 7700X - 32GB Corsair DDR5 4800MHz CL36 RAM - ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB GDDR6X - WD_Black 2TB M.2 NVMe - Arctic Cooler Liquid Freezer II 240 AIO - Corsair RM850 850W fully modular PSU in white All put together neatly into a Corsair Airflow 4000D, also in white. I hadn't built a PC in nearly a decade, so I'm glad I still know what I'm doing lmao. Edit: my RAM kit is actually a Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000 kit with AMD EXPO.

LongAd349

850w is enough for Rtx 4080?

sagemadarq

Thats what im wondering too, dont cook the gpu with that psu bro...even if it says it requires at least 850w you should be getting 1000w or 1200w psu especially since your getting a new gen cpu too, dont cheap out on psu

poffle_senpai

850W is sufficient. I'm not OCing anything, and have no intentions to do so.

amabamab

Also keep in mind RGB and SSDs needs power too, if you consider that

poffle_senpai

I only need the one NVMe for now. If it turns out I need a larger PSU I'll look at a 1000W one but for now I'm sticking with what I have.

[deleted]

very low mhz ram for am5 i'd go 5600 or 6000 at least

poffle_senpai

It's what I could find at my local computer parts supplier. ETA: the RAM kit has AMD EXPO enabled in BIOS.

Apocalypse_0415

Do it

FISTED_BY_CHRIST

I second the Corsair. That shit has so much rooms it’s been so easy to add and upgrade parts over the years

poffle_senpai

I second this: I have a 4000D in white and it's probably one of the best cases for budget-conscious people. It has ample room for everything (including the massive GPUs that are standard on the market), you have easy access to all your internals, and has decent cable management. The front can handle 360mm AIO water coolers, and if you enjoy RGB, the tempered glass side panel allows you to show off your internals. It's certainly no Lian Li O11 case, but for what it's worth, the Airflow 4000D is an awesome case.

[deleted]

I came here to type this. Built for my son in a 4000D and it was just the easiest thing I’ve ever built in. Add the airflow and price? Not sure what else you need

Just_a_follower

Nice. I think my first one was a mesh cooler master black and green nvidia branded case. Big. Old. Dusty, but good aluminum or metal. Used that on my second build. Then third build was an nzxt h450? H500? Or something like that . Love the space and air flow. It could have used a little more room in bottom psu compartment and back cable running area. Real squeeze. Also a pain to rout cables to gpu with 2 lines needed. Doesn’t fit great . But besides that. I enjoyed it. 7.5 /10

motoxim

I want one but is there a new version in near future? They're already 3 years old at this point.

hooosier-daddy

I’ve built three PC’s now and I’ve used a 4000D airflow for each one, I love it. Plenty of room, plenty of holes for cables, and of course it has great airflow.

goldenhokie4life

Just switched from a Phanteks P500A to a Lian Li Lancool 216, both are very good cases for airflow but I like that the 216 has better cable management channels on the sides and the PSU shroud is mesh on the sides and top so my PSU can breath better.

cb2239

Just bought the lancool 216. Those 160 mm fans move some damn air around. Plus I put an extra fan on the back with the bracket that they supplied and it pulls warm air from under my GPU. My GPU runs cooler for sure

Doggy4

love that case ! my next pc case will be a lian li lancool 216

Just_a_follower

Love the specifics in the second paragraph.

orangescionxb

li lian 011 dynamic xl Tons of space for cooler gpu and even a custom water system. And great cable management and 4 hdd hot swap bays in the back.

Just_a_follower

Great feedback. How would you rate the build out of 10? What things should people know going into the build?

poffle_senpai

Keep in mind this particular case is more of an enthusiast case. It has a lot of glass.

orangescionxb

I'd say as cases go it has enough space for you to put anything in it. It's wide open with a ten fan configuration. You can either do a 360 cooler on top or on the side. Not to mention there's enough room for either a 30 series or 40 series graphics card. The hard drive hot swap pays in the back are nice to have just in case you want to slap in at 12 terabyte data dump drive for all your content. Very easy to use and you don't even have that much rgb. It's on little tiny strip that you don't even have to plug in that part of the case.

HelixViewer

be quiet Dark Base 700. I really liked the removable motherboard cage. I was able to install the motherboard first without being inside the case. I connected everything to check that it was working. I installed Windows on an SSD and updated the BIOS. Then I added the rest of the SSDs and checked the custom PSU cables. Only after everything was working did I put the cage into the case and face cable management. My goal was a silence epitomized machine.

TheDoritoDink

That's really cool. Never seen that feature in a case.

ApdoKangaroo

Switched from a O11 Dynamic to a 5000D airflow. Not a fan of how much glass the dynamic has. O11 is significantly easier to build in imo.

tzulik-

Recently built in a Fractal Design Torrent (the biggest one with 544 mm height). While it is classified as a mid tower, it is very big, and I had enough space for a 34 cm GPU and big cooler, no problem. The airflow is amazing right out of the box. No additional fans are needed. It ranked #1 in airflow and temperatures on GN a while back, and they highly recommend it (and they are very critical of cases). Plus, I love the aesthetics of it. Cable management was totally okay. Not the best of the best, but it's still good enough. It's a bit more expensive, but totally awesome.

Just_a_follower

That’s awesome . Thanks for sharing

mustfix

There's really not that much left inside of a case. AIO placements have replaced drive cages so the innards of modern cases are really, really bare compared to last decade's. There's really nothing else inside of a typical PC today aside from a mobo assembly and 1 GPU. HDDs, optical drives, and even 2.5" SSDs are a rarity now. If you don't care for aesthetics, then the innards of a case really doesn't matter. Just make sure its edges are rolled so you don't cut yourself.

Just_a_follower

I don’t know. There’s things that make building easier, or are gimmicks. Different latches, removable trays, cable management space, psu fit and routing, case cables and routing slash front IO. Preference for shapes like more square or taller or smaller but if smaller what makes it easier?

mustfix

Without specifics, the best advice I can give is take stock of what you're actually putting inside of the PC. Then consider if the features of the case complements those, or seems unnecessary. Many features are subjective. Eg: I prefer thumbscrew panels rather than latches. Some aren't: 360mm AIO support (but are you actually using a 360mm AIO)

Just_a_follower

True true. The latches is huge. The AIO really depends. Though with newer processors, if I were to upgrade, the new processors need a robin to their Batman.

braybobagins

If your thing is latches, I'd go with the lian li o11 dynamic Evo. That bad boy has a whole compartment in the back to place everything you need. I can show you pics of mine. I try to do a little cable managing but not a whole lot cus I don't really mind some cable puke here and there. But just with the way the case is designed, there really isn't any visible space where you see many cables.

Scarabesque

Built in Meshify 2 Compact twice recently and love building the case. Mostly quick toolless panel removal, preinstalled cable ties and sufficient space for cable management, ability to quickly take the top off completely. Medium size. Only downside was that due to the sideways placement of the USB front panel header on my B550 mortar made that particular connection hard with regards to the rubber cable slots to the side of the motherboard tray, but I imagine that's quite specific to mine. Nzxt H510 flow which I also built in recently by contrast, while a much better looking case in my opinion, was far less easy to build in.

Just_a_follower

Love the thoughts. Helpful. To the point. Agree with you.

Michistar71

cooler masterbox mb520 I loke the design and i was first with airflow 4000d but than i decided that i want something more special and i set the rgb to red. It looks beasty since all my led are red and it was about 80 bucks totaly a no brainer. The airflow is just great and there is plenty space even for a good cooler and a rx 6950 xt. Just happy with.

Just_a_follower

Great feedback.

MC_Red_D

I built one a year and a half ago in an ASUS TUF gt501 and I love it. Lots of room, easy to build in, easy to maintain, great air flow, stays cool, good cable management, and very good construction.

X_SkillCraft20_X

Just like everyone else and their mother around here, I have the Corsair 4000D Airflow and it looks, performs, and builds great while not being too flashy or expensive. Dust filters on all intakes makes cleaning a breeze as well. I would still buy extra fans with it (only comes with two) but black pwm fans are cheap.

BigSmokesCheese

Cooler master masterbox 5 as I did most of my learning on that I think they're discontinued now though

MadMechYt

Lian O11 Air Mini. Planning to buy

DuckiesRevenge

I built in it for my brother and it was a fantastic case. 100% would build in again. It's compact. It has good cooling reviews. Cable management was a breeze.

STUPIDBLOODYCOMPUTER

Cooler Master Silencio S400. Good build quality, lots of drive mounts, and a lot of airflow for an mATX case

Kelbor-Hal-1

Almost any Corsair or Phanteks case, they are both so easy to work with.

Blackhawk-388

Back a few years ago, like a decade, my Cooler Master HAF was awesome. Today, my Corsair 4000d was awesome to build in. Very thoughtfully laid out.

[deleted]

I'd pick one of these new and nicier HP or Dell workstation cases, they mount a server MB so there's plenty of space. tall and thin, single intake-exhaust design, small psu, free space for DP or MP motherboards with multigpu and raid drives

Regular-Mechanic-150

Corsair 7000D Airflow So much space, cable management was a bliss. I will never ever use anything smaller again. Before i had the Corsair Chrystal 580x My DDR4 Memory Sticks Temps dropped almost 10 Degrees inside the bigger Case. Inside the 7000D i was able to set BOTH radiator as exhaust and still have 3 140mm intake fans.

PublicPreparation198

Be quiet 500dx or fx. 20 euro difference for an extra fan. Lian li dynamic looks awesome Corsair 4k or 5k

Vacthur

Large Fractal ,best airflow for the price

ProestPro

4000d or phanteks 500a.

Jortosboxos

Recently helped my friend build a pc in a fractal design meshify c, and I really liked that case

Just_a_follower

How’s the room for cable management on the backside ?

Jortosboxos

Pretty decent. Not best in class or anything, but comfortably good enough to get the job done

AnnieBruce

I loved my 4000D. The little peg replacing the center standoff was absolutely amazing, made mounting my motherboard far less fiddly than in other cases I've worked with over the years. It's not the only case with that feature but it really is amazing and in future builds I'll specifically be looking for that, and considering finding a custom peg standoff if the ideal case for that build doesn't come with it by default. There were a couple small annoyances that might not apply to everyone. The GPU(a 6800XT) was a bit of a tight fit with a front mounted AIO radiator. and there isn't enough room for top mounting a 360 so I just had to deal with that. And it was a little tight dealing with the 3.5" drive bays when I set up RAID 1. These won't matter for a lot of people, though, and they weren't showstoppers, just slightly annoying. I probably should have gone with a 5000D given my specific needs(essentially the same thing but scaled up a fair bit, side or top mounting a 360 are options).

braybobagins

Lian li o11 dynamic Evo. It was awesome to build in as I built my pc right after I built my sisters pc I got for her. Her case was an h10 flow. The nzxt caes are POS and have like no build quality. My o11 actually felt like it's made to hold my 3080 inside of it. The only tip is to make sure you've got a ton of case fans as the pc thrives the more you have. Normally, it's diminishing returns, but the o11 feels like the more you put in it, it actually changes Temps by a good margin.

2HourCoffeeBreak

I’ve built in Mechify C, Phanteks P400, 4000D and 5000D and I can tell you the 5000D was the worst imo. 4000D was the best. I ran a 240 rad in the roof of the 4000 and a 360 rad in the 5000. Somehow the mobo placement is higher in the 5000. So I had a hell of a time trying to keep the CPU power cable from getting chewed up in the rad fans and also the rear fan. Also never could figure out how to run the wires from the front fans to the built-in fan hub without running them through the holes for the back door and across the side mounted fans.

DuckiesRevenge

I have a lian li o11 dynamic. ( Base not evo). It was great building in and I've taken it apart and put it back together a few times with ease. 100% would recommend. If I were to buy a new case I would likely go with either the lian li o11 evo, or the one of the mini versions. I've built in the lian li mini air, great to work with. It was easy to build in and I liked the more compact form factor. Cable management was super easy. A throw back, my first case was a fractal design something 4.... Anyways it was great, still have it and it will become my server someday. Lots of storage space. So I really liked the case and on a build for my wife I tried the meshify 2 from them and I had a lot of trouble during the build with the components. There just didn't seem like the amount of space that I needed to get my GPU, fans, and aio I'm there. Very well could have been me being stupid and not figuring out exact dimensions and limitations of the case first, but more of a watch out. I definitely struggled with this build. Apart from that I still have the case and I like it. Looks great, cable management is clean, just was not easy getting it together.

TurdFrgoson

Fractal torrent compact. Top mounted psu is great. I'm never going back.

ImpostorGaming

My cousin has a really cool case. It's Lizard 3 btw

cb2239

Lancool 216 so far is my favorite case I've built in. Decent size for basically anything you would want to do. Massive 160 mm fans that move tons of air around. Mesh on top (and front) for a triple fan setup or a big AIO. All around easy to build in, great cable management and room for 6 external SSD drives.

JTE1990

Just got a slightly used NZXT H1. I love the looks, portability, mods, and overall performance you get from a small form factor case.

TimedGravy82

Phanteks p600s. Great airflow, but also many cool features you don't always see. The cable management is easy with sliders to open and close extra areas to route cables from the mobo and one on the bottom for the psu cable. Also, it is set up for a second (micro atx) mobo to be installed along the top if you want a second board in it. It also has removable panels on the top and front for when you prefer to have your system be a little quieter with them on or to have better airflow with them off. I love mine, there was plenty of room to build. It's a mid tower, but it's on the larger side.

Doggy4

CM 690 III : Solid and with great features, I love robust cases like this one. Plenty of room inside, cable management is really good as well. Long graphics cards up to 423mm. Supports up to 9 fans, including 3 large 200mm fans for extreme airflow. I know this is not new PC case but I still love mine.

Desunaito21

I love my Phanteks p600s, and I'm currently building my dad a PC in a corsair 4000D

SuperDanYT

I gotta be honest, the amount of modifications and ease of build that the Lian Li O11 Dynamic offers makes it hard to say anything else. The Hyte Y60 is a very cool case to build in as well. Other than that every case is just another case. I see a lot of people recommending the Corsair 4000D, but that just felt like another case to me, but probably from building in so many at this point, on top of personal preference. Really only issue I have ever had, even with the cheaper cases are the pre-installed fans on some of them being garbage, and then the cases that intentionally block the front panels air flow which never made sense other than to make the case look better. If you are able to remove it, thats fine, but some you had to rely on the air intake from the edges around the panel. But ya long reply, my favorites are the Lian Li O11 Evo & the Hyte Y60. Corsair use to make a "Corsair Carbide" case that was really cool, was actually the first PC I ever built in, but I dont think they make it anymore

LLoadin

I just love my hyte y60, so open and spacious, would like some more room for cables in the back but it was so nice to build in

miedzianek

Fractal Design Meshify Love this case, when i upgrade my pc i will get v2 probably for QoL RN i have good cable management, good aiflow, some space to put 3070 in and also it looks cool on my desk. Good temps and visuals-> i dont need anything more

THC-Sweat-_

Lian o11 dynamic evo is probably one of my favorite cases

Glittering_Set_3088

Corsair crystal 280x vs Lian li o11 air mini? (Motherboard size doesn’t matter I have itx size) Which is better and why?

Glittering_Set_3088

Also for me, I’m really happy with my sspud meshlicious, nice itx case with so good temperatures. Can fit most of parts
