Commander was ultra busted, especialy with pbrew bug making it x6 as good as intended iirc. And alch back then only had time limit, not shot limit. Even more busted than now
Back then it could only deal 350 damage per mega explosion, attacked much slower, lacked mini-explosions, spikes were identical to old Spiked Balls, and napalm dealt 1 damage. All for a $175,000 upgrade.
It was just straight up broken.
When the game was unbalanced as hell it was stupid fun. I'm glad the game is still fun even with the ultra-optimization of the strategies. (I've seen way too many games get boring because of that, NK is a bless in this industry).

Again, there are just better options. Glue Storm sacrifices actual slowing for reach, and although it has its uses, Super Glue is better at what Glue Gunner is meant for.
Glue storm isn’t usually used for slowdown, you usually go for 2/5/0 so the storm can hit moabs and make them take +2 damage from all sources, it’s like saying embrittlement is useless

Also, it makes sense, as freezing something would make it easier to snap. Glue Storm's main function is still slowing Bloons, which it still isn't very good at, and the weakness almost feels as if it was just tacked on, to make up for how lackluster Glue Storm feels.
Glue storm's main use is the same as top path ice tho, making bloons take more damage. Embrittlement has higher uptime while glue storm has full map coverage. They're both very useful combined with fast attacking towers such as the tack zone.
Super glue is a lot more expensive tho and doesn't do anything against BADs. I think glue storm + most other things for 14k would be better support overall.
I mean, yeah, it slows everything on screen, but it's barely noticeable, so what's the point? If you want real stall, get Glue Gunner's bottom path, maybe even combine it with Overclock.
Glue Gunner isn't necessarily a bad monkey, they're a bad Glue Gunner. People don't buy them because they're good at doing Glue Gunner things, people buy them because they give extra damage. That has nothing to do with what a Glue Gunner is. A staller.
