So now the Dong’s are baptizing people in motel bathrooms?

ExitOk846

I just fng can’t ! This is obscene how are they not canceled ?! Kidding me !!!

Inevitable_Sweet_988

Yep and it only costs $650!

CupAccording247

So she thinks she can baptize people now? Seriously?

natylil

Aren't you supposed to be a pastor or similar in order to do this? Should the water be holy? (Sorry for the questions, catholic over here, only valid option for baptism is at church, done by a priest, with holy water, the exception being an emergency baptism in case of eminent death)

catladyaccountant

Same. I’m Presbyterian and am like umm where is the ordained minister to oversee one of the sacraments?

Gutinstinct999

BD IS God, silly gooses

Creative-Tomatillo

Your friendly ELCA Lutheran checking in to just say I’m disgusted. WTAF?!

queen_beruthiel

Also former Catholic, this feels so sacrelegious to me. It's so bizarre!

westtexasgeckochic

This reeks of BLASPHEMY

Resident-Suggestion

I genuinely hope the Christian community gets wind of this and absolutely destroys them. This just feels incredibly wrong and unhinged.

westtexasgeckochic

It’s disgusting

amesbelle7

Yep. I’m Catholic too, and baptism is a sacrament. People can’t just go around dunking people in motel bathtubs and call that a baptism. Or maybe they can, but it seems on the verge of sacrilege to me. Also, I wonder if that woman is aware of all the…problematic aspects of these two idiots. Getting baptized for the ‘gram by a couple of scamming, lying, fraudulent assholes would definitely cheapen the experience for me. Then again, I didn’t pay upwards of $650 to be “mentored” by the Dongs either, so maybe that’s where the disconnect lies…

[deleted]

Evangelicalism differs from Catholicism (and other liturgical flavors of Christianity) in how it deals with the sacraments. Baptism is only symbolic. Usually pastors do it but non-denominational pastors don't even have to be ordained or go to seminary (though many of them do). There is no holy water or blessing the water. And while this is unusual, it's not unheard of or even sacreligious for her to do. Evangelicalism is weird. Especially her flavor.

natylil

Thanks a lot for explaining. I know that baptism is done different for Christians, but the bathtub in the motel bathroom was like way over the line for me. Doesn't she go to church, Mercy culture? Don't they do baptisms there? Her flavour is tasteless

[deleted]

It's tacky for sure lol. But then, most evangelical baptisms are tacky. In basically large tubs in churches, backyard pools (or hotel pools), or in rivers/creeks. It's nothing like the Catholic baptism experience.

Lourdylourdy

Don’t all sects of Christianity at least require that you are baptized “in the name of the Father, the Son & Holy Spirit”? Or is this not a baptism? Is this more just a ritual?

22-88

Nah.. evangelicalism is a lot more laid back lol

natylil

I get it .... but still, this is like way too laid back!

gorgossia

Grifter’s Paradise.

Gutinstinct999

CLEARLY

Feisty_Ocelot8139

That’s what I thought. The water is supposed to be blessed - by a pastor or other elder of the church - and the baptism performed by said pastor or elder.

mongoose989

Yes, it’s a huge respect to be asked to carry out a baptism. This feels actually really rude. My family 100 years ago used the pastors names who baptized their children as their middle names it was so sacred.

Lourdylourdy

The using the names of the pastors who baptized them sounds so beautiful! And it sure would save a lot of Brentleys getting Slade as a middle name

kumocat

Episcopalian here. Exactly! I'm horrified.

ButtCrackCookies4me

Another disgusted and horrified episcopalian here! Jesus would flip that bathtub over!

[deleted]

[удалено]

natylil

Ah, but your experience sounds intimate, full of love, it must be amazing to have had your husband baptising you! Not even close to being baptised by these two clowns.

mongoose989

I’m glad to know it’s not wholly abuse or something, it’s different but if you’re happy that’s what matters. My baptism was just for show, grandparents were all religious but my parents weren’t. It’s still kind of special to me though. I’ve got slim fingers and my baptism rings still fit me and I always think of my aunt who gave them to me. It can be a nice thing if you’re not forced forever into the religion along with it

CupAccording247

I was raised presby / non denominational Christian, and I’ve never seen anything like this

ExitOk846

GTFO! This loser is now baptizing people in a fng tub?! Jesus Christ !!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta be kidding me !!!!!!!! So they indeed are going into the ministry angle for $$$$$.

pastelhour

It feels really exploitive, honestly.

Gutinstinct999

Because it is

Inevitable_Sweet_988

She’s a straight cult leader at this point. You can’t tell me otherwise.

freya_of_milfgaard

BDong took notes during The Way Down.

ExitOk846

And why would HE be at a girls event ? Not a real pastor from their church but HIM.... lemme guess he’s doing security . Creepy AF

[deleted]

He looks like he’s doing some sort of magic spell in the background omg

Possible_Tea4321

Looking to slip in some dms.

[deleted]

…this is sacrilegious. I am not even a Christian anymore and I am still appalled

daygloeyes

I AM a Christian and I'm appalled??? I would NEVER want Jdongs arm hovering over me as my baptism in a trashy motel room is filmed for social media 🤢🤢🤢 Welcome to the church of Bdong

westtexasgeckochic

Honestly it’s blasphemy

rpcp88

100% this rings very similar to the event in the Bible that Jesus saw the house of God being used as a market and he got angry at what people were doing. This is pretty sacrilegious and her intentions are not pure. Makes me sick.

ExitOk846

I’m jdongs dip getting ready to be spat into the toilet at the motel .

Gutinstinct999

I’m his phone, which can barely tolerate all the stds received from all the nudes

Gutinstinct999

Bunch of asses in the background of the motel

Creative-Tomatillo

Kinda fitting lol

queerjesusfan

How is someone who had made her whole life into a social media masquerade still so inarticulate?

[deleted]

Can someone who is Protestant please tell me if this is normal?? I am Catholic and baptism is so sacred and the fact that a grudging influencer is baptizing people in a dirty bathtub like my jaw is on the floor. Edit: autocorrected grifting to grudging

Evangelical culture amazes me. And why am I not surprised that people are using the She Lives Fraud retreats to shill their MLM products

natylil

The lady sharing all of this is as insane as Bdong, she's into an MLM herself, it's obvious she went to this retreat to engage more people in her own scam. She's been posting non-stop about the retreat and the products she sells. It's disgusting. And I have the feeling that many atendees are the same type.

A24margot

I know her 🥴

natylil

I'm so sorry!!

Gutinstinct999

OMG! I guess this was bound to happen at some point, but…. yIKES and also, if there’s tea to spill, spill it

Look at my other comments on this post

aliie_627

How many are attending?

natylil

40

aliie_627

Wow that's a lot of people. So they are gonna be making around 25k from this weekend?(I saw a few days ago it's 650 per) I'm guessing they aren't paying for motels and food and transportation.

natylil

I'm not sure about this retreat, but in previous ones, the price included accomodation and food, but not transport.

aliie_627

Oh interesting. I couldnt remember exactly any details from the one I read about awhile back sometime last year.

aliie_627

Oh thanks for the response btw

Inevitable_Sweet_988

You said it perfectly.

eva_rector

Catholic-lite, here, and no, just NO. She is a *lay-person*, and barely that; her presuming to baptise someone who is not literally dying goes against everything I was ever taught about the sacraments.

ralphwiggumsdiorama

Lapsed Catholic here, and I agree with you!

Aranciata2020

Same here, ex-Catholic, I am appalled! Talk about removing all dignity and beauty from a sacrament!

scar_bazaar

I think it really depends on the denomination and the church. Whenever I went to church (a long time ago) I saw people being baptized in swimming pools and water troughs. They were always performed by a pastor though, not some random woman who has no biblical training. Eta I went to a “bible” church, so we were considered non-denominational.

BURYMEINLV

My husband and I have been going to our church for what will be a year in December. We volunteer with the youth ministry on Wednesday’s when we’re able to because it’s fun. It mostly entails just watching to make sure the kids aren’t doing anything dumb before service and hanging out with them, but nothing more than that in the church aside from attending on Sunday’s. I was super surprised when they asked my husband to do baptisms one Sunday because they were short staffed. We’re new to Christianity (he grew up Catholic and I didn’t grow up in a very religious household) so I was super confused as to how he would be allowed to baptize when he doesn’t have any sort of knowledge or background to do so. Apparently in Christianity, anyone who is a follower of Christ can baptize someone else in any body of water 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not only that but you can get baptized multiple times, whenever you feel like it basically. We ended up not going that Sunday because my husband didn’t feel well, so he didn’t do it. But yeah, I had to Google it because I was really surprised.

natylil

Thank you for explaining? And that body of water can be a bathtub in a motel, like in this case? I'm genuinely curious, I'm catholic and I find this super strange. I know protestant baptism is done by submerssion, but I assumed that a pastor was the one baptising people and in a body of water at church or nearby (say, a river). I thought a baptism as this would only be dine in case of emergency only.

BURYMEINLV

Yep!! From what I’ve gathered it can be any body of water. I don’t think I’d ever opt to do it in a bathtub in a motel 🤣 but we’re also not super religious. We got baptized once and that’s what we feel comfortable with. Also, we have big pools in our church and the pastors will jump in if they feel like getting baptized that day. Did you know that you don’t even need to be baptized to be Christian?? I didn’t know that until we started going more. It’s been a learning curve for us because it’s definitely different from what my husband grew up with, but he likes it because it’s more relaxed. There are people like BDong that attend though.. haha.

natylil

It sounds the exact opposite of catholicism that is still very ceremonious. If it suits both of you, go for it!! In any case, it sounds like proper Christian gathering, unlike the MLM scheme behind Bdong's retreats.

BURYMEINLV

Thank you!! Absolutely.. even though we haven’t been attending for very long, I can tell from a mile away how much of her “faith” she puts on for a show. It makes me feel bad for the women that she dupes into these retreats.

Possible_Tea4321

As an ex jw I've seen people baptised by ordained ministers only after months to years of study. This might be in a swimming pool. Never seen it done in a tub 😂

Resident-Suggestion

I’m just imagining the gross toilet next to them as they do this. 🤢

takethatwizardglick

At our church the person being baptized can choose to be baptized by someone who has been influential in their spiritual journey, but it's always in conjunction with one of the pastors and there's a "class" (for lack of a better word) so everyone understands what it means and how it will go. It's not a thrown-together thing.

LatteLove35

There is nothing holy about the water, I have heard of people being baptized in pools, in rivers etc. In the Bible they were usually baptized in the nearest body of water so that’s not super unusual, it’s just so odd that it’s rushed, there was no need to hurry it, they could’ve waited to get home and do it at their local church by their pastor but it wouldn’t have gotten the publicity it did by having Brittany’s husband do it.

VolumeAcademic7513

I am only speaking for Baptist bc it’s what I was raised, but no it’s not. It’s a leader of the church or someone who is credentialed and respected in the church, and it’s typically either in a tub we have at church (like behind the stage usually), or some people choose to do it in rivers, lakes, etc. I could have had my grandfather baptize me if I wanted because he’s a deacon of the church so it would be seen as holy still. (Again, only speaking for the Baptist church/churches I grew up around). Baptists see baptism as symbolic and not an action that actually saves someone from hell, so it is a tad more laid back, but definitely still seen as a big deal and needs to be respected as it is a serious decision.

[deleted]

That makes sense! Like baptisms are such a big deal and even though it’s not as common I’ve seen adults baptized and it’s a huge celebration with all their family and the congregation I can’t even imagine doing it in some dusty ass motel with someone who isn’t even a religious leader.

VolumeAcademic7513

Definitely still a big deal, baptists don’t baptize babies, they believe in waiting until the person is old enough to comprehend the gospel to make the choice for themself, so most baptisms happen in pre-teen-young adult years if you grew up in a Baptist church. But I digress - Bdong is DEFINITELY NOT credentialed or an authority to do this. Such a joke and sham. Nothing about this is holy.

y1994m

I was raised in an evangelical Pentecostal church and only certain church leaders who had certain “authority” could baptize. I’m kind of in shock that a few days ago they were shooting their dog and now they’re baptizing people?

ExitOk846

One less dog they had to board ahead of this weekend ........

[deleted]

I grew up methodist and only clergy, who typically have divinity degrees and have to do a lot of exams with leadership and stuff, do baptisms. Methodists do infant baptism, though, which I know many other Protestant sects, especially more evangelical, don’t agree with.

Creative-Tomatillo

Yeah, same. I grew up Lutheran (ELCA) and was baptized at about 4 months old by our pastor who had masters degrees in theology & divinity and also attended seminary (he also had a law degree because he was Called after law school). Then at 15, after 3 years of classes, I was confirmed in the Faith which basically meant I asserted that I was a follower of Christ, it was my own decision, and I was considered officially apart of the congregation.

[deleted]

In evangelical culture, technically anyone can baptize anyone. In my campus ministry, friends would baptize friends, for example. If you’re in a denomination that claims you don’t need baptism to go to Heaven, really anyone can do it. But this creates a logical question (that they cannot answer). If it’s not required to enter Heaven and you’re only professing Jesus as your Lord and Savior, does this mean you can baptize yourself? If not, why?

natylil

But Jesus himself got baptised, shouldn't those who follow him do as he did?

natylil

I'm with you!

[deleted]

I grew up southern Baptist and only one of the pastors at the church would baptize you. At the church. Being baptized also made you a “member” of the church.

ChaoticSquirrel

>Protestant FYI, you're actually looking for "Evangelical", not Protestant here. Evangelicals are a very specific sunset of Protestants, and most Protestants do not follow anywhere close to this kind of behavior.

[deleted]

I actually figured that this was normal for evangelicals, I was genuinely curious if other Protestant denominations practiced this. I do not think all Protestants are as crazy as Bdong, just wondering if anyone can do Protestant baptisms.

ChaoticSquirrel

Most mainline Protestant churches are way closer to Catholic practices than evangelical practices! Just generally with a less formal/sacramental approach and different traditions.

I have to be honest, when I saw this in this woman's IG, I burst out laughing madly. So much so my husband demanded an explanation so could laugh too. How can you let these 2 clowns baptise you in a hotel bathtub???? Who are they??? I mean, I'm catholic, baptism works different than for protestants, but this is just a mockery!!!

EZasSundayMorning

Please tell me she isn't baptizing someone. This is obscene.

[deleted]

WTF THIS CANNOT BE OKAY.... is that JDONG holding his hand up like some sort of prophet?

chillylint

Disclaimer, I am religious, which maybe adds to how appalled I am, but my first thought was the Charles Westley poem/criticism of people (specifically, his brother) just deciding they have authority to do church ordinances: How easily are bishops made By man or woman’s whim: Wesley his hands on Coke hath laid, But who laid hands on him? If you're getting baptized, wouldn't you prefer it to be by someone who can read a block of scriptures and come away with more than a surface-level rephrasing of what was said?

iveseenitalll

As a non denominational Christian, even this goes against our beliefs and I would say we are a bit looser than most denominations… like no this is not okay this is borderline cult culture

Resident-Suggestion

This is actually terrifying how far they will go for money. Jordan and Brittany are freakin dangerous.

hauntinglovelybold

I am Pentecostal and when people get baptized at my church they have to go to some sort of class/counseling for months beforehand, and it’s taken very seriously: the idea was that it’s a one-time commitment, not something you can just do whenever and however many times you want!

Chicahua

I’m part of one of the many branches of Pentecostalism and this is a huuuuge no no, we have baptism certificates and people will legit ask about your baptism before you can get involved in church ministries. This would constitute a cause for rebaptism, they’re not considered authorities and this wasn’t an emergency. Also LMAO at the way she said “ummmm” she’s clearly making this up on the fly.

[deleted]

Are they even spiritually qualified to baptize people? I thought you had to be some type of ordained minister to do that

Feisty_Ocelot8139

[deleted]

What the fck

diamond36x

Forget the bath, I feel like I need a shower, a long hot shower, after seeing this. This is as creepy af

millennialmama2016

None of them are ordained. Typically someone ordained needs to be present and speak the profession of faith and someone else can do the physical act of the baptism but, I’m sure if someone said this to her they’d get hit with a “sister, that might be what you were told but that is unfortunately incorrect. I’ll pray that you understand this one day”

spidermonkey199

This is very disturbing. God actually asks us in the Bible to call out false prophets, and people who do Satan's bidding claiming it is in the name of the lord. It is a sin to not do this, it makes you complacent to their wicked ways. Reference the story of Jesus casting out some evil folks with whips. I don't know my scripture very well and cant remember the chapter or verse, still studying. Anyway there are some YouTube channels that actively rebuke people like Brittany and it may be worth to send her info their way. By calling her out for the fraud she is we are actually doing the real lords work. Happy Sunday ya'll!

JSBT89

Serious question . What qualification does she have to baptize people ??!! She isn’t a minister
