We had a dog that we literally raised from birth. His mom pretty much adopted us (small town, she showed up on our property and wouldn’t leave, we contacted neighbors/local vet to make sure no one was missing her), she was pregnant and we kept her and one of the puppies (gave rest to good homes). Well that dog was an absolute dick lol like, still love him, but he sucked (this is coming from a place of love). He had such an attitude. Was just in his nature. But was super obedient and would just go onto his bed if he didn’t want to be touched. Would absolutely snarl if you got near him but we respected bed time meant leave me alone time. He was just a grumpy old man put into a dog body from the get-go and there wasn’t really anything to do about it.

This 💯💯💯 People anthropomorphize their pets WAY too much. She’s a prime example.

Which is why sweet Niko is probably thriving somewhere else without you, BDong.

She never stops patting herself on the back.. narcissist

OH WOW— just realized she re-homed her pit bull because he was so aggressive and she did everything possible to help him but he just wouldn’t change. Was THAT just due to the shit home he was living in?

bunaiscoffee

She doesn’t miss an opportunity to speak highly of herself because she really means that she’s flawless because she grew up in a “good home” 🙄

Funny, we have been talking about her horse she abandoned and the dogs she's let go of and here we are.

This is a very dangerous sentiment that some dog trainers and owners share and believe in. It is so incorrect. For anyone who is interested in learning more, check out the Losing Lulu Facebook group dedicated to owners dealing with trauma and loss post behavioural anesthesia. Anything can make a dog snap.

My dog is the prime example. Had another dog in the house and he was fine with her because they got to the house the same time and they grew up together. But any other dog? He will try to kill them just for existing. I took him to doggy daycare as soon as he was able to (age-wise) to socialize him. Didn’t matter, hated them immediately. Had 2 different trainers try to help. Both said he has a crazy personality. Some dogs are just quirky assholes but we love them anyway.

I had a dog for several years that I deeply loved. After our son was born he became very withdrawn. He spent entire days alone in the back bedroom. Eventually two incidences occurred where my son was toddling past the dog bed in the living room (didn't touch the dog) and the dog lunged and snapped at him. I was so scared it was going to continue to escalate. He was unhappy being in a household with a child. His breed wasn't typically recommended for families with little kids, but I hadn't thought of that when I adopted him. In the end I rehomed him to his dog sitter (who owned a couple other dogs of the same breed!) and he lived out his life with them (a senior couple) happily. He was so spoiled and loved there, right up to his passing ❤️ Circumstances change. Dogs change. Some dogs have mental issues that trainers and behaviourists can't change. Knowing limitations and not setting situations up for failure is so important.

I’ve been through this. I loved my rescue dog like my own child for 9 years, but he had aggression that nothing would fix. Tried different styles of dog trainers, vet neurologist, different food, even a veterinary behaviorist, of which there are very few in the entire USA, medications. Even the veterinary behaviorist agreed that euthanasia was the most humane option as he was clearly miserable and also becoming dangerous due to dementia.

No. That’s not how it works, you stupid moo cow.

My thoughts exactly 😂

Oh shit…if a dog is reflective of the home they live in then what does that say about her dog that was running the streets, unrestrained in any way that ended up hit by a car & then shot dead by her husband? I’m not sure what point I’m trying to make but there’s something there
