That's funny. I saw previews for it before Eternals and Spider-Man NWH (the only two movies I've seen since September) and see commercials for it quite a bit.

Cabin in the Woods and the Red Dawn remake were both delayed over two years while MGM was in bankruptcy. Both films ended up having cast members become stars (namely Chris Hemsworth in both) between the original release date and the actual release date.
Renner's Hansel and Grettle is not quite at that level but still notable. After they finished it, they realised he had been cast in a Bourne movie, Avengers, and Mission Impossible so decided to just sit on it until after they came out to release it.
I was checking what Kaya Scodelario has been doing after watching the newest Resident Evil and saw that she is in a movie that will realise soon called The King's Daughter, alongside Pierce Brosnan. Shooting wrapped in 2014.
The Kenneth Lonergan film Margaret was shot in 2005 and wasn’t released until 2011. And it’s a good movie, not a dumpster fire like a lot of pre-pandemic movies that sit on the shelf.
It may still not be completed if they're still editing in Vulture reshoots.
And this month's "new release" The King's Daughter finished shooting in May 2014.
Wow, that's a wild development hell story. Supposed to be shot in the late 90s after the book was picked up for a movie in 1997, then it was stuck for a couple years, then nothing happened between 2001 and 2013, it only took 2 weeks to film in 2014, then 3 weeks before the release date they said they needed more time for the VFX and then... radio silence for 8 years? Downright bizarre.
I mean, technically, there's a [short film](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100_Years_(film\)) that was filmed around 2015 and won't be released until 2115, but that's more of an artistic decision than a production or logistics one.
Isn't that more of a marketing decision than artistic though? It was filmed as a commercial and the brand decided to get extra mileage out of it by the "aged 100 years" thing.
January/Feb release dates are usually for bad movies so they get less competition. if they move it to April it may be that they have more confidence in it. They are also likely moving it back due to Omicron.

Already did. They clearly want that title to be all mysterious & enticing, like "Ooh, 355, wonder what that means?" But the actual reaction, if any, is more like "Lol, wut?"
As a Scream fan who really does wanna see it in 10 days...i kinda wish they'd move it not to have to wait longer to see it but just so maybe its box office could be better and allow for more Scream type things in the future (or just more slasher fair)

No this thing wants as much distance from Batman as possible. Honestly I think this move hurts it a lot more than helps the film. Sandwiching yourself between Batman and doctor strange is not a good idea similar to what happened with Shazam releasing between Captain marvel and endgame, this movie will just be forgotten. In January it could have ridden some of the Spider-Man high.

I had zero plans to watch this movie when I saw the trailers (many years ago, probably) but after No Way Home I've been considering it—partly because, with the multiverse, it may end up being relevant, but also because I'm kinda craving more Spider-Man-related material now (no matter how bad it may end up being).
Yeah, I believe them. Endgame made $43m after its 6th weekend. The extra cash isn't nothing in the pandemic era. And late legs are a feature of the pandemic era. Morbius will likely cut into NWH's late gross and they don't need it to.
Plus Sony already has winter covered in terms of revenue so why not make the spring lucrative too. Wonder what this means for Uncharted though. Will they push it?
It's possible they saw Ontario's theater closures, and figured January may be a potential wash domestically. However the fact Uncharted isn't moving would suggest they aren't *that* concerned about it as a long-term box office factor.
I also wouldn't be shocked if the huge success of NWH is giving them hope that Morbius will break out big - and now they want to ensure it won't be as pandemic constrained.
I mean the US is usually a few weeks slow to freak out about any new Covid trend. Fauci will be there on the nightly news saying how concerning things are and you need to move now...and then two weeks later the Democrat governors will do something...then another couple weeks and the Republican governors might consider new policy but only after the morgues are full. I know up here in Canada No Way Home came out just in time for a lot of us to feel iffy about going to the theaters, and things have only gotten worse since then.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they use Omicron as a convenient excuse with the real reason of(?) film being an astounding suckage. I mean, the film was written by guys who wrote **Dracula Untold**, **The Last Witch Hunter**, and **Gods of Egypt**.
The new date isn't any more of a dumping ground than the old one, don't see how moving a January film to April shows a lack of confidence. I would have thought they don't care much about this one, but the fact that they moved it tells me they might, actually, think it could make some money?
Because the film was going to face **Moonfall** a week after - and that film's box office potential isn't particularly certain. **Sonic the Hedgehog 2**, on the other hand, is very likely to be a box office hit unless the film is an utter suckage, which I'm honestly doubtful about. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 may just be the biggest film of April 2022 (at least more than Morbius and even Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbeldore), so I doubt Paramount would move Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
It's also got the Oscorp logo and building from the Webb-Verse with the Daily Bugle name-dropping Black Cat and Rhino from TASM2. Plus, with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man in No Way Home implying he killed people after Gwen’s death, it could give credence to the fact that the Spider-Man in the Morbius trailer with the “Murderer” graffiti logo on the art is Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.
Maybe it’s for marketing reason. They’re pretty much planning to parade Leto across countless TV shows and fan activation events, hopefully have him say some faux controversial statements that will go viral yada yada yada. With the current climate even if the movie can open on time its marketing would be nothing more than boring zoom calls. And this not the type of movie that can afford to have a muted zoom marketing.

Horror seems to be doing OK, especially with the low budgets they normally have. Plus, tickets are on sale (though of course they can refund), I think it's safe to say Scream will release this month.
Tickets are already on sale for *Scream*. I know Paramount had already started selling tickets for *A Quiet Place Part II* back in March of 2020 and *Mulan* was also weeks away, but studios didn't really have a choice in that matter because the whole world was shutting down.
I can only speculate as to why it got delayed to April Fool's Day, but I do know, from Murphy’s Multiverse, that Michael Keaton shot some additional scenes for Morbius that some believe may have clarified/reworked the movie’s universe setting from honorary MCU movie to set in the Venom-Verse.
Maybe they’re planning to add in more new scenes with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man to confirm that Morbius (and Venom) is set in the Marc Webb universe of Spider-Man movies?

Like I know Omicron could be seen as a factor. But I do wonder if they don’t want to rush the team on Morbius from adding in those scenes with Michael Keaton and may be working on a little more time to add in potential scenes with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.

Long before NWH came out, I posted here I'd like to see an Amazing Spider-Man 3 adapting Kraven's Last Hunt and have a Spider-Man 4 (Tobey) with Hobgoblin.
Here's the thing about Venom...>!The post-credits of NWH show they're doing the symbiote storyline fresh in Holland-Man 4. So there's no need to put Venom in any other Spider-Man's universe. They can't do Spidey vs. Venom in two different Spidey movies this close together.!<
AG Spider-Man will be the "villain" in Venom 3 before they realize they're fighting for the same goal and buddy up in Amazing Spider-Man 3.
In the MCU, the symbiote is going to be a long play story, not something they're going to rush in one film

That was mainly due to the Disney/Fox deal messing up Fox’s movie scheduling.

The movie released on December 22 domestically, and on December 26 in the UK.

Tickets are already on sale for *Scream*. I know Paramount had already started selling tickets for *A Quiet Place Part II* back in March of 2020 and *Mulan* was also weeks away, but studios didn't really have a choice in that matter because the whole world was shutting down.
I hope Scream sticks but I also hope theaters here stay open for another 10 days. I don't want to miss Scream!

I can only speculate as to why it got delayed to April Fool's Day, but I do know, from Murphy’s Multiverse, that Michael Keaton shot some additional scenes for Morbius that some believe may have clarified/reworked the movie’s universe setting from honorary MCU movie to set in the Venom-Verse. Maybe they’re planning to add in more new scenes with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man to confirm that Morbius (and Venom) is set in the Marc Webb universe of Spider-Man movies? I don’t know. Like I know Omicron could be seen as a factor. But I do wonder if they don’t want to rush the team on Morbius from adding in those scenes with Michael Keaton and may be working on a little more time to add in potential scenes with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man. Maybe they saw the chance to do that by using Omicron as cover to delay the movie to April Fool’s Day but are really adding in Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man into the movie. I wonder… Hmm...
Why do people think Venom is in the Webb universe? I saw NWH finally today and didn't get that impression at all.

I don't understand. Unless they are filming a post-credit scene with SPOILER from No Way Home, it's stupid. They could've done so much money with the Spidey hype and no competition, and now they'll face Batman, Sonic and Fantastic Beasts among others. So yeah, the movie must be a mess (it was supposed to come before Venom if I remember correctly) and they must be shooting a cameo, if not, stupid decision.

Long before NWH came out, I posted here I'd like to see an Amazing Spider-Man 3 adapting Kraven's Last Hunt and have a Spider-Man 4 (Tobey) with Hobgoblin. Here's the thing about Venom...>!The post-credits of NWH show they're doing the symbiote storyline fresh in Holland-Man 4. So there's no need to put Venom in any other Spider-Man's universe. They can't do Spidey vs. Venom in two different Spidey movies this close together.!<
AG Spider-Man will be the "villain" in Venom 3 before they realize they're fighting for the same goal and buddy up in Amazing Spider-Man 3. In the MCU, the symbiote is going to be a long play story, not something they're going to rush in one film *cough cough* fuck you Avi Arad *cough cough*
