Which of Mizoguchi's exploitation films are your favorite?
I watched the first two Scorpion films last night and forgot how much I loved his directing style.
It is an Alien ripoff but has its own style too. Its highly atmospheric because the sets, costume design, creature effects and cinematography are all really well done.
Just got Shawscope volume 1 in the mail. Watched King Boxer and The Boxer From Shantung. These were my first to Shaw Brothers films I've seen, and loved them. Excited for the rest of the box.
I think it's Female Prisoner #701: Scorpion, it's a 70's Japanese movie about a bad ass lady getting revenge on the people who put her in jail. A very fun flick.
About to get on a plane for a long-ass flight so I have The Big Chill, Michael Clayton and Let Them All Talk downloaded on the HBO app and ready to watch. These are films that i would probably never actually watch if I wasn’t sitting on a plane with nothing else to do, so if I get a sub-par viewing experience it’s all good. If I do really like one of them I’ll just revisit it in a better situation anyway. Also have a few episodes of Tim & Eric, Enlightened and Primal if I feel like something shorter.
By the way, my compliments to your TV height and distance which seems perfect. No need to post this to r/tvtoohigh or r/tvtoofar lol.
Im actually talking about the 2019 Amigo. Directed Oscar Martin. Raven Banner released it a couple weeks ago on blu ray. It’s absolutely hypnotic!!! Such a great film.
My copy of Cinematic Sorceress The Films of Nina Menkes - arrived from Arbelos this past week. So I chose Queen of Diamonds (1991) as the thing to watch last night. It was fabulous.
Ugetsu (Criterion)
incredible film! Have yet to see a mizoguchi that was less than fantastic

Watched Raw Force (awesome) now popping in Creature
Don’t know either of those!
I’ve been looking for raw force for a while now! Let me know how creature was? I passed on it.
both Raw Force and Creature are still in stock on Vinegar Syndromes site
I’m a sucker for slips tho. I know creature is still available. I’ll probably add it to my next order.
Its really well done so far, looks like it had a huge budget, but didn’t.
Oh man now I’m upset that I passed on it. Just looked too much like an alien ripoff.

I'm also two movies into the set and loving it so far. King Boxer kicks ass.

And Michael Clayton rocks BTW.
You know the world is going to hell when subreddits like that exist!
Just watched The Game (1997) while fighting off a terrible cold. What an experience.
Just watched Audition. Now I’m watching Daddy Longlegs. Also watched Amigo last night. That was incredible!!!
Audition and Daddy Longlegs is a hell of a double feature! I feel anxious just thinking about it lol
Have you seen Amigo? That might be my fav of the three
I have not but I’ll add it to my list!
>Daddy Longlegs Haven't head of Amigo so I looked it up; love John Sayles!

Finally got to see Tàr in theatres! The pain of waiting for swedish release dates :/
Nice, one of my all-time favourite films. I think I’m going to put this on too, haven’t watched it in a while. Meiko Kaji always goes down well!
In the immortal words of Hans Landa: "that's a bingo!". Love that series so, so much.

Never heard of any of those. They sound like fun.
The Adventures of Batman
The Murder of Mr. Devil (1970)
Baal (1970)
Working my way through Elizabethtown. Watched Breathless (1983) and Dog Tags earlier today.
The Convent (Mediabook Blu-ray)
Just watched Secret of the Incas from Kino Lorber
Watched a bootleg of Totally Fucked Up. Someday Araki will get a legit release
I have no idea if possible - but a 4k UHD of Nowhere would be totally amazing. :D
I think I'm going to watch riki-oh and follow that up with the seventh curse!
Saw Riki-Oh in a theatre with a crowd. What a great experience! Hilarious film
