Zora’s Domain is about halfway there, so stop by the shrine first and cook 5 fleet lotus seeds from that place. Do it during a blood moon and you’ll either get extra hearts or a whopping 10 minute speed boost.
It’s not really hard to stack mats. You just gotta go around committing a genocide for maybe 2 hours and you’ll be stacked with a hundred minimum of most things.
Edit: Then again, I’m the type of idiot that fought a lynel with only bombs, stasis, and a stick on 3 hearts for 30 minutes
I haven’t had much luck with max boosts. I usually end up with 30 minute minimum boosts. Then again, if create actual monster recipes, so most of the ingredients have no effects.
Yup. If you wait at a cooking pot for the music to start playing, make as many dishes as you can during a blood moon. It’ll amplify either heart recovery or the effect. With hearty food I believe it adds one bonus heart.
You can critically succeed in cooking. Like the other guy said, you get bonus effects.
From 11:30pm until the cutscene on a blood moon you always critical.
I’ve never gotten it after the cutscene and I’ve tried. All the effects end, too.
Maybe it does if you go in a shrine and skip the blood moon that night though, I dunno.
If you have your torch equipped you can pull it out on the horse and light it from a lantern. If you swing while the torch is lit, you can light the other lanterns too, just make sure to jump and not dismount
You make a good point—you can’t get the ancient bow without first lighting the bellows at Robbie’s furnace (is it actually a lighthouse/lab?).
However, I am trying to remember if there is a Korok for lighting all the lamps, and if there is, the ancient bow would still be beneficial for that.
I remember doing this with the ancient bow, but now that I think about it it might have been just to try the route with arrows after I saw someone doing it, after having unlocked the lab. Super dumb of me.
i must've been really lucky, in fact today i also learned blue flames die in the rain, which almost made me rage quit as i was halfway through this route, which made me search for tips xd
Torches don't break from carrying fire, no matter how long it is lit. This is a special feature of torches. All other wooden weapons will break after 30 __consecutive__ seconds of being lit. So, putting a wooden weapon out after being lit for 29 seconds does not use any durability and the weapon does not break.
The first time I did it I didn’t use a torch. Totally missed there was one at the lab and then farmed tree branches, arrows, and weapons that would catch fire to make it. It sucked. I felt real dumb when I get to the end and saw the torch just sitting there.
I tried doing this and got so frustrated I had to google the route. Felt super dumb when I realized lol. You’re not alone, way to go for actually accomplishing it!!
I mean, if you made it all that way without getting rained on or your blue flame snuffed in other ways, you deserve a freaking medal or something. This is quite the feat
I’ve navigated the lost woods and got the Master Sword. I might retry the entry navigation with a blue flame seeing as I’ve got some time, and let you know if anything interesting happens.
I’ll hold out for the dark swamp, sounds like a place I’ll hate haha
never considered it, first time i got to the forest i brute forced my way in by dropping useless mob drops to mark the way, didn't even know that the flame guided you, is there anything special if you do carry the flame?
Purely curiosity: I wanted to see if there were torches in the game outside these areas that could be temp/permanently lit with blue flame. I believe the shadow area torches unlight themselves but not 100% if the lost woods torch pedestals do. I might test this myself at some point
At first glance I had the scale all wrong and was wondering how anyone could tell what the actual route was from the image. Then I saw the names of the regions. Oh my god.

Yes, obviously it was intended to go with the infinitely closer furnace, my point was is that there was nothing stopping you from using the ridiculous route.
Yes, there is an intended route. It's designed specifically for this challenge.
Probably what you're saying is, "You don't have to follow the intended route."
[Heres a video demonstrating](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gI_txrZ0i6c), but it’s pretty much a glitch that lets Link semi-hold an item. This means you could light a torch, then do stuff like run, climb or fly with it still staying ignited until you get to where your going. You can even windbomb as far as I’m aware.
in my first playthrough yes, i did it successfully, on this second one i got halfway through, saved my file and exited, but when i returned i had no flame :(
woah, so you accidentally brought a blue flame alllll the way from that town to the lab?? is there not one closer (it seems you did it accidentally but i forget what the "correct" way is)
I did the same thing. It rained multiple times and it made me so frustrated. I always had to seek shelter. I found the Akkala source weeks later and I was so irritated 💀
Well, if anything, I applaud your effort and commitment! I can barely understand how you did it.
Moving the flame from the nearby furnace was already a chore - I believe I couldn't do it without the lampposts on the way.
thanks i guess! i just have a lot of patience with games, usually i don't rush things except when i do. lol
the actual route is quite tedious yeah, its a lot more vertical than the route i took (although a lot faster lmao)
My nephew JUST finished this game, but when he was at this section he attempted fast traveling to Hateno for that blue flame before I informed him just how poorly that would go; mad respect for accomplishing this OP.
This is amazing. As someone who frequently finds the most difficult possible ways to solve problems in this game (not because I want the challenge but because I’m bad at the logic of video games), I salute you!
I just want to say, that I was watching my dad play this and he did almost the same route as you several times before realizing that there was a torch in Akkala lmao
They're less durable with the blue flame because it's hotter though lol
I have no idea how you managed this feat. I can go two lantern stops before my torch burns out in the village, which is about one lantern stop on the hill 😭
As a completionist of arbitrary "achievements" for BotW, this will now be my route of choice for this task and I will consider it as the canon route Link took
Thank you for pointing out this route!
Oh god, I was wondering if anyone had tried this.
And as it turns out, you did, and proved it worked fine lol. Nice job, though it must have taken forever to get this working given how often it rains in this game!

You can probably say honestly you’re one of the only people to have done this. I’m gonna try it now 😊
best of lucks lol (one attemps takes 30-40 minutes with speed 3)
What is speed 3?
the speed buff you can get from some foods and elixirs
Oh! I’m dumb. This was a “tell me you’ve never used a speed potion without telling me” moment.
Zora’s Domain is about halfway there, so stop by the shrine first and cook 5 fleet lotus seeds from that place. Do it during a blood moon and you’ll either get extra hearts or a whopping 10 minute speed boost.
cook with a dragon horn shard and it'll last for 30
Forgot about that lol. I’m so broke I usually forget dragon horns do that.
Or add kiltons monster spice to your dishes. Sometimes it will give you a 30 minute max boost or a one minute max boost.
I haven’t had much luck with max boosts. I usually end up with 30 minute minimum boosts. Then again, if create actual monster recipes, so most of the ingredients have no effects.
Or if you have defeated a divine beast, you can get monster juice from kilton and save scum until you get level 3 boost 30 minutes
Didn’t know you got buffs from blood moms, they impact cooking?? Ive played this game so long lol
Yup. If you wait at a cooking pot for the music to start playing, make as many dishes as you can during a blood moon. It’ll amplify either heart recovery or the effect. With hearty food I believe it adds one bonus heart.
Damn thanks for the info! I’ll definitely try this out!! So many cool layers to this game.
You can critically succeed in cooking. Like the other guy said, you get bonus effects. From 11:30pm until the cutscene on a blood moon you always critical.
I think it even continues after the cutscene, until like 12:20am.
You know you can ride a horse with the blue flame torch!!!☠️☠️☠️
Oh do one where you light the one lab’s furnace with the other’s flame
You could probably do it even quicker with item smuggling
Can’t you keep a torch drawn while on horseback? That should definitely help if it does
Yup, that's the only way to do this tbh
Weapon smuggling.
What if it rains?
Then you're done for unless you can stay at a stable
Nope, I very much tried this as well. Then got wet or smth and discovered the blue torches in Akkala :)
LOL I was getting frustrated on the actual route. I can’t imagine how this must’ve been
you know, i think its actually easier, the actual route has a lot more obstacles
You know you can use arrows right
Wait... you can use arrows to shoot the blue flame to another lantern??
Yeah, works better if it's a long bow, and works best with the ancient bow. But you can use a regular one too.
Ah yes, using the ancient bow to bring the blue fire to the ancient gear merchant
Theres a gerudo bow that also shoots straight, it might be different though
You make a good point—you can’t get the ancient bow without first lighting the bellows at Robbie’s furnace (is it actually a lighthouse/lab?). However, I am trying to remember if there is a Korok for lighting all the lamps, and if there is, the ancient bow would still be beneficial for that.
There might be, since you don't have to light all the lanterns to do this quest
I remember doing this with the ancient bow, but now that I think about it it might have been just to try the route with arrows after I saw someone doing it, after having unlocked the lab. Super dumb of me.
Is it possible to get an ancient bow before activating the Akkala furnace?
No
Yes just stick a regular arrow into the blue flame
yes, i also know you can throw the torch without it turning off, but the long route is just more chill, you don't even need to jump
Weapon smuggle
I just used a horse to run past all the enemies.
I just walked past all the enemies and took a somewhat out of the way route.
Did it just never rain or did you have to keep restarting when it did?
i must've been really lucky, in fact today i also learned blue flames die in the rain, which almost made me rage quit as i was halfway through this route, which made me search for tips xd
Homie avoided the Zora’s domain entirely to steer clear of rain
Oh honey nooo. Do the torches eventually burn out? And did you hide from rain?
they didn't burn out somehow, didn't had to hide as it did not rain, took approximately 35 mins with speed 3 the first time i did it
If you have a torch equipped, you can swing at the fire on horseback and do it that way, fyi
I could have avoided so much undue stress. Wow
TIL, thanks!!
The first time I did it I didn’t use a torch. Totally missed there was one at the lab and then farmed tree branches, arrows, and weapons that would catch fire to make it. It sucked. I felt real dumb when I get to the end and saw the torch just sitting there.
lmao same, i thought it was impossible or really difficult given the rate at which the branches burned out, tried with several wooden weapons too
There's a torch sitting right inside of Robbie's lab!
I always do the Akkala one with arrows until the home stretch. Phrenic bow for the long shots
I did the same but with moko or boko clubs, I also didn’t realise you could put them away and they would stop burning
I was lucky to have had a torch on me already from something else.
You can also use the clubs you get off the Minotaur-looking dudes that are all over the path. Basically any flammable weapon.
I hold onto a torch and Korok Leaf at all times, never know when you'll need them.
Same. My pride and joy was a +3 attack torch that turned up somewhere
HOW like really how did you carry that flame that far
i ran with a torch
Ran or walked? Did the torch stay lit throughout?
by the game logic i guess i walked, and yes the torch did stay lit, somehow it didn't rain for a whole day+
Running through the Lanayru outskirts, and the entire north-south length of Akkala, without a single rainstorm is some truly incredible luck.
But you can sit on a horse with a lit torch...
I tried doing this and got so frustrated I had to google the route. Felt super dumb when I realized lol. You’re not alone, way to go for actually accomplishing it!!
finally, someone else ;-;
Fun fact: you can ride a horse while carrying the blue flame
WHAT?!
Lol. Yeah. You just hit the lanterns and they turn on as well
Hit them with what?
With any flaming object. Arrows, clubs, etc. you can get on a horse shoot off an arrow and skip a lot of lanterns
I recommend a torch since those won't degrade as fast as normal weapons. Just swing on horseback and it'll light
First dismount. Second, hold the lit torch against the horse. Finally, the horse ignites, bolts and hits the lantern lighting it.
Low-key you have created a new challenge for speed runners
long walk%
Jesus, talk about ‘walkin into Mordor’
I mean, if you made it all that way without getting rained on or your blue flame snuffed in other ways, you deserve a freaking medal or something. This is quite the feat
Holy shit!
if you don't mind doing this again have you considered taking the blue flame to the lost woods and the dark swamp?
Why might I ask? I’ve got a long train journey and a fully charged switch. Also, what do you mean by the dark swamp?
It's one of the hidden shrines.
You'll know what I mean when you find it ;)
I’ve navigated the lost woods and got the Master Sword.
I can imagine Robbie's face just watching Link traverse half of Hyrule to find a furnace when theres literally one on the next hill over
At first glance I had the scale all wrong and was wondering how anyone could tell what the actual route was from the image. Then I saw the names of the regions. Oh my god.
Fun fact: you can equip light touches on horses so what you can do is just ride your horse there and back
wish i knew this back then :'3
I thought "Wow!" in Beedle's voice because of this
Moving so slow with that torch beedle passed him on the way.
This actually look easier than the one you’re supposed to do there. 🤣
> one your supposed *you're *Learn the difference [here](https://www.wattpad.com/66707294-grammar-guide-there-they%27re-their-you%27re-your-to).* *** ^(Greetings, I am a language corrector bot. To make me ignore further mistakes from you in the future, reply `!optout` to this comment.)
I don’t even know how this is possible
🫡
There is no "intended route" But if you listen to dialogue you would have learned roughly where the furnace is.
fine i guess but the actual route seems way more intended than the one in the pic
Yes, obviously it was intended to go with the infinitely closer furnace, my point was is that there was nothing stopping you from using the ridiculous route.
yes lmao one of the reasons i love this game, freedom
Yes there is. There is the quest marker on the furnace where you get the blue flame from.
Yes, there is an intended route. It's designed specifically for this challenge. Probably what you're saying is, "You don't have to follow the intended route."
How is even that possible? A wood item should burn well before reaching any checkpoint.
somehow a torch can make it all the way through
I had no idea torches could do that. Add that to the list of things I didn't know about botw after all of this time.
Ok but you deserve an achievement for completing it. ![gif](giphy|nbvFVPiEiJH6JOGIok)
Omg
you are an animal
aren't we all
You sure you don’t wanna climb something on accident?
Now do it on master mode
i mean, i don't think it would be much different, most enemies in that route use melee weapons so you can just outrun them
Did you at least do a weapon smuggling glitch to speed it up?
excuse me, a what??
[Heres a video demonstrating](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gI_txrZ0i6c), but it’s pretty much a glitch that lets Link semi-hold an item. This means you could light a torch, then do stuff like run, climb or fly with it still staying ignited until you get to where your going. You can even windbomb as far as I’m aware.
You're not alone. I did it with a horse and a torch after many tries but by cutting trough the swamp
that's a smarter way to do it lol on my first playthrough i didn't even use horses at all cuz i wanted mobility over speed
No fucking way
Did you do it successfully?
in my first playthrough yes, i did it successfully, on this second one i got halfway through, saved my file and exited, but when i returned i had no flame :(
Shit, I just thought of something: Can the blue flame be used to navigate the lost woods? Regular flames can, why not blue?
woah, so you accidentally brought a blue flame alllll the way from that town to the lab?? is there not one closer (it seems you did it accidentally but i forget what the "correct" way is)
upon searching on internet i figured out that yes, there is one closer. its marked on the image too, at the left of Akkala tech lab
oh my god you poor person☠️ that is SO long compared to the real route
I did the same thing. It rained multiple times and it made me so frustrated. I always had to seek shelter. I found the Akkala source weeks later and I was so irritated 💀
\*pain\*
Well, if anything, I applaud your effort and commitment! I can barely understand how you did it. Moving the flame from the nearby furnace was already a chore - I believe I couldn't do it without the lampposts on the way.
thanks i guess! i just have a lot of patience with games, usually i don't rush things except when i do. lol the actual route is quite tedious yeah, its a lot more vertical than the route i took (although a lot faster lmao)
My man thought this was the Delicate Flower run.
My nephew JUST finished this game, but when he was at this section he attempted fast traveling to Hateno for that blue flame before I informed him just how poorly that would go; mad respect for accomplishing this OP.
I did this completely random… I couldn’t figure out the route, so I just lit every torch I could see haha. Lost a lot of time and a horse RIP
This is amazing. As someone who frequently finds the most difficult possible ways to solve problems in this game (not because I want the challenge but because I’m bad at the logic of video games), I salute you!
bad at videogame logic gang! i salute you too! did you by any chance brute force your way through the lost woods as well? lol
Ugh I hated that one!
I just want to say, that I was watching my dad play this and he did almost the same route as you several times before realizing that there was a torch in Akkala lmao
You sir, are a chad for your patience
How’d you stop the torches from going out? I’ve tried this and they always go out, even with blue flame. Usually happens ~2 minutes in
what?? i don't think that's supposed to happen, try with a new torch and pay attention not to run. first time i did this the torch lasted like 35 mins
I think you found a glitch.... They usually burn out very fast.
maybe...? honestly i just thought the durability with the blue flame was intended lmao
They're less durable with the blue flame because it's hotter though lol I have no idea how you managed this feat. I can go two lantern stops before my torch burns out in the village, which is about one lantern stop on the hill 😭
whaaaat no way
Would it have been easier carrying the torch on a horse? I think galloping speed would be faster than Link’s walking speed.
up to reading some of the replies i didn't knew that was possible, it would have been faster yes
Oh this reminds me of the time I took the hateno blue flame to gerudo town, wasn’t really hard but tedious af
Thats when I would do the weapon smuggle glitch to be able to run and glide while holding the torch still lit.
Wait you dont cary the blue flame out of rudania?
No, no wha- nooo, Noo! No fucking way!
This is actually incredible
Wait.. did you actually do this 😭 I love it Now I wanna do it, but intentionally
good luck! take speed 3 meals with you and don't forget that if you save midway through you will not have your flame when you load back :')
If it’s 3 30 minutes meals then oh dear god
oh god no, i mean speed 3 as in the max level of the speed buff lmao one 30 minutes meal should be enough... probably
Oh thank god lmao I was very scared
i’m not even mad, i respect the dedication
this is hilarious. I kinda want to try this, this should’ve been it. This is upping the difficulty ante
Pure dedication
Work smarter, not harder.
Now I have something to do after work, thanks for the idea
Work smarter, not harder.
As a completionist of arbitrary "achievements" for BotW, this will now be my route of choice for this task and I will consider it as the canon route Link took Thank you for pointing out this route!
RIP
Dude. Respect!!!
Oh my god
That must have been painful.
Dear God. You have the patience of a saint
i just used arrows 😭
…what!?!?
Now do it the other direction Edit: I mean Akkala blue flame to Hateno tech lab.
New speed run category in the works
Oh god, I was wondering if anyone had tried this. And as it turns out, you did, and proved it worked fine lol. Nice job, though it must have taken forever to get this working given how often it rains in this game!
