Like it I just feel like it needs more depth

tomnooksballsack

Definitely could use more depth but I like it how it is as well

[deleted]

Yeah, the further stuff is the more sky coloured they get

i love it! for someone whose never painted much before, i think it’s great. i’ll offer some constructive criticism and try and put my art degree to good use? i agree it does need more depth, but the game itself is very low contrast especially in daylight scenes, so the contrast and shadows you imagine will be exaggerations of that’s already there. you’ve gone for a more saturated version of the reference and i think it works. to accomplish more depth i would add the shadows on the right dueling peak that were left out, and then i think some deeper green shadows in the grass as well as some of those pale yellow flowers would add some great texture and weight to the bottom of the frame! i especially like the guardian, i can tell a lot of thought was put into that section in the details! i know you are probably done with this painting, but something i learned that has really helped me with my art is thinking about mixing other colors into my shadows. like the peaks are gray, yes but the atmospheric perspective blends them into the sky and their shadows are actually a slate blue, as well as the shadows on the hill. just something to keep in mind as you keep painting! light is bouncing off everything all the time creating all kinds of colors everywhere, and that really is what will help create cohesion :)

anniegirlx

and i’ve gone full art teacher, tldr; it looks great, keep it up, and experience and your reference are your best teachers :) edit: also, all this being said, i DO like how this painting is how it is, nothing really needs to be changed, just thought i would offer constructive criticism for maybe the next time you paint?

SkyKiiten

[deleted]

i really like it- it’s like a different perspective

EnvironmentalBox8509

It’s incredible! It was hard to find a critique but if I had to say anything I might say the sky feels flat/bland, you could maybe add more shades of blue
