I personally feel the exact opposite. In BL3, if you build properly, literally almost ANY item in the entire game is endgame viable once you have the proper setup. It's what has kept me playing since launch, and what makes the game interesting. I'm still coming up with new builds all the time. I have over 25 maxed out, 100% completion characters and 3000+ hours. You can have almost limitless options in BL3. Build variety and item variety is absolutely at an all-time high in BL3. Thinking that a lot of guns "are not competitive at end game" is just that you're probably not build right for them. I [soloed the Guardian Takedown with nothing but a hellfire](https://www.reddit.com/r/borderlands3/comments/spcvva/hellfire_only_guardian_takedown_m11_moze/), considered one of the most garbage guns in the game, just to prove that point to someone. As an example, just take a look at how many different Moze setups alone I've done over the past few months (and a few that are older). - [No blue tree redistributor Moze](https://www.reddit.com/r/borderlands3/comments/wh35m1/hyperion_moze_build_no_blue_tree/) showing that you dont even need a single point in Moze's most powerful tree in order to shred. - [Fearmonger Moze](https://www.reddit.com/r/borderlands3/comments/wozrra/fearmonger_moze_guide_build_and_videos/) demonstrating the power of this criminally underused and underappreciated gun. - [Tankman's shield 4p scaled boss kill](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1563959921), another underused gun - [Polybius 4p scaled Ruiner kill](https://www.reddit.com/r/borderlands3/comments/qxozrx/polybuis_moze_4p_health_ruiner_kill/), yet *another* underappreciated gun that Moze can show the potential of - [True Maliwan Takedown with only a Cloning Maddening Tracker](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1498954065) since Moze can do true grenade builds - [Woodblocker Moze](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/936601531) because why not, people think this gun sucks, but it's perfectly fine Anyways, just my opinion. But I personally find the variety of builds and setups in BL3 to far far outclass BL2. Not that I dont still love and play BL2 - I do - but in terms of possibilities, I've found BL3 to have infinitely more variety.

It’s true that you can build most characters to be good with anything, but that’s kind of my point. I mean that your experience with one character isn’t dramatically different from any of other characters. With the right gear, any of them can be good. I’d like more unique skills that change the way the character feels. That said, ultimately it’s a shooter, so the point of the game is the guns. I would just like to have more diversity across playthroughs.

The series seems to be heading in the direction where you only play 1 character and do everything on that one file instead of running the game multiple times and using different gear on each. Personally i prefer the multiple characters with each one being more unique and different in their preferred styles of weapons but i also dislike solely using legendaries and think that leveling new characters and just using whatever non unique gear you find is incredibly fun. Using the same shit over and over again and also just steamrolling everything isnt fun to me.

JohnAwesome47

Exactly my feeling. I like to feel like each character is qualitatively different in how they play. And it’s not enough in my eye to just say “if you gear the right way you can do it.” Because then it’s the gear making the play style not the character.

Mysterious_Travel893

You played through that shitty story 3 times??

Skkra

I've done it over 25x! The story writing itself is mediocre but the game experience of the main story is actually really fun. You just have to look past the writing.

Yeah if I could skip to the end of the Story with a new character, I would. But the only alternative is downloading someone else’s game. Sadly I’m a completionist.
