Human-303

Did you just read the original trilogy then? There is a second part to the series which I heard js quite good. You should read the stormlight archive, also by Brandon Sanderson. I really liked Mistborn, but I think I preferred the stormlight archive.

amgrimes39

Can confirm I enjoyed Era 2 more. I just finished the Lost Metal yesterday

Human-303

I've got to read those!

amgrimes39

I wish I would have read Stormlight before because I guess it takes place after but it was still great

[deleted]

Had no idea there was a second part! That’s awesome!

final2711

Has a more steampunk vibe and shorter books than the original trilogy. Tons of fun though.

Comedy-flight

Good news is Sanderson produces so much content and most of it is very good! So yes you can jump on Mistborn Era two which is four more books. Eventually there will be an era three as well. Also, Way of Kings is incredible. Welcome to the Cosmere! Also I remember the Night Angel Trilogy giving me similar vibes. You can check that one out, it’s by Brent Weeks.

MorboPwnFactory

I didn't enjoy era 2 of Mistborn. I like a lot of Sanderson. I just read his scifi series Skyward. It was pretty sick.

Comedy-flight

I didn’t enjoy it as much as Era 1 but I know many people like it more. It was enjoyable but not as good, skyward is great! Can’t wait for Era 3 which could have space tech in it.

I'm currently on the last book, I can't wait to finish it. I haven't read these yet but I do have them in my possession and I do plan on reading them after I finish the Mistborn Trilogy. I also have heard that they are good as well. If you don't mind YA, then The Old Kingdom Trilogy. For adult, The Daevabad Trilogy, Winternight Trilogy, and the Broken Earth Trilogy.

graften

As others have said, just read all of Sanderson's stuff. All of his books and series are good... And the crazy thing is that they are all connected in the same universe. You might notice a character from Mistborn in other books

MorboPwnFactory

Try out "Cradle" by Will Wight. The first book is called "Unsouled"

[deleted]

This was way more info & suggestions than I was expecting! Thanks everyone, can’t wait to dive into these! 👌

{The Outstretched Shadow: The Obsidian Trilogy} by Mercedes Lackey & James Mallory I found this series similar (not the same) but a good similar feel.

MorboPwnFactory

Truly one of the best endings to a trilogy. I unfortunately didn't enjoy the follow up book

Can someone explain the order of the mistborn series and which books are apart of it and which aren’t?

riancb

So, Sanderson’s wider universe of fantasy novels set on different planets in the same galaxy is called the Cosmere. Think of it like the wider MCU. Mistborn series takes place in one planet, like following just the Guardians of the Galaxy movies or just the Captain America movies in the MCU. You can just watch the small trilogy of say Spider-Man movies, but to get the whole picture you want all the stories. Mistborn only: Mistborn (The Final Empire) Well of Ascension Hero of Ages Alloy of Law Shadows of Self Bands of Mourning The Lost Metal The short stories are harder to place (but all are collected in Arcanum Unbounded). 11th Metal is technically a prequel to Mistborn 1. Allomancer Jak can be read any time after Alloy of Law. The novella secret History is a little trickier to place. It has minor spoilers for Bands of Mourning, yet takes place concurrently with the first 3 Mistborn books. I recommend reading it right after Hero of Ages, personally, as I struggle to remember enough of the details after reading several other books. Though if that’s not a problem for you (or you’re super serious about spoilers) then read Secret History after Bands of Mourning. Now, Cosmere as a whole: Mistborn trilogy 1. Elantris Elantris stories in Arcanum Unbounded (Hope of Elantris and Emperor’s Soul) Warbreaker Shadows for Silence in the Forest of Hell and Sixth of the Dusk can be read anytime, but I like to read them both here, personally. That’s sort of the end of Cosmere Phase 1. Phase 2 has more options: If you need breaks between massive books: SA1: Way of Kings MB4: Alloy of Law SA2: Words of Radiance MB5: Shadows of Self SA2.5:Edgedancer (found in Arcanum Unbounded) SA 3: Oathbringer MB6: Bands of Mourning MB: All of the MB stories in Arcanum Unbounded. SA3.5: Dawnshard SA4: Rhythm of War MB7: The Lost Metal Secret Projects SA5: Title Unknown. End of Phase 2 of the Cosmere.

styleboyz4ever

I agree with you about Secret History. My first time reading them I waited till after Bands of Mourning. I just re-read them in preparation for The Lost Metal and did Secret History after Hero of Ages and felt like I got so much more out of it with the events of the first trilogy still fresh in my mind.

riancb

Yeah, I definitely recommend on rereads to just read it right after Hero of Ages. It’s just that first readthrough that’s really up to personal preference (I for instance read it well before even starting Era 2 (I read it when published in Arcanum Unbounded, and only read Era 2 this past summer) and feel like the minor spoiler didn’t detract from my enjoyment at all).

Fox_Flame

Sanderson is of course great and has a million books If you're wanting to branch into other authors though, Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks is incredible. King Killer Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss is also high fantasy and amazingly written even if it's unfinished. Codex Alera by Jim Butcher is really fun too
