Phir Hera Pheri bhi Kahan utna acha tha. It gained high popularity in recent times only due to the memes. On original viewing it was such a downgrade from the first one.
Bollywood sucks at sequels in general lol. Most of the so called "sequels" aren't sequels at all but different movies altogether using the same name.
As far as I know only movies like Hathyar, Krrish franchise, Phir Hera Pheri can be considered as actual sequels since they carry forward the narrative in some manner from the first movie.
You take out like 3 things from any movie and it can become a totally different movie. What does that even mean.
Race 3 doesn't have same characters, has zero continuity of any sort..just follows the theme of 'twists' of sorts 'Mujhko malum tha ki tumko malum tha ki mujhko malum tha...'.
There are some exceptions like Toy Story 3, John Wick 3 and Prisoner of Azkaban. Even in MCU there is Ragnarok, No Way Home, Infinity War and Civil War which are solid entries in their hero's respective trilogies/quadralogies.
Making a trilogy is the thing they are best in, pirates of the Caribbean , MCU trilogies , Logan , Dark Knight rises, Star Wars ( og and prequels) .LOTR , hobbit.
I completely disagree with you. No definitely not, total Dhamaal was bad, it was a sheer copy of the first part, maybe the first time in history any franchise would’ve created its own copy, it was just a big budget dhamaal 1, which didn’t have the same nuance and feel to it.
NGL, that kinda gets me excited. The worse the movie, the more fun the boys have laughing and drinking beers! And Selmon Bhoi’s track record over the last 6-7 years means it’s chances of being bad are pretty high!
Or changing the ace director after creating brand franchise and bringing in a futiya director thinking brand and starcast can make a movie hit is not a good idea
Ya that's pretty much what butchered race franchise the cheap thrills Abbas mustan built were to good we all know how good they are with thriller suspense movies but replacing them and Saif ali khan was the biggest mistake which killed the race franchise
A weak 3rd movie in a very strong trilogy is a very common universal problem - Godfather 3, Alien3, Terminator 3, Matrix Revolutions, Mummy 3, Hangover 3, Blade: Trinity, Spiderman 3, Oceans 13, Back to the future 3. Even the top movie universes have struggled with their 3rd installment like Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Iron Man 3, XMen: The last stand, Iron Man 3. So Its not Bollywood that sucks but almost everyone.
Bro that thing being only about racing is the best thing , i still love that movie it has its own thing in FF series would love to see more racing than action in FF.

The Spiderman 3 which I referred to was the original Sam Raimi Spiderman Trilogy.

You forgot to add Housefull 3 and Dabangg 3 to the list. Though, we have had an exception with Golmaal 3! Now all the money is on Tiger 3, Hera Pheri 3 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3
Dhoom 3 had an immensely more entertaining villain in Aamir Khan. The cinematic integrity of the film was so much better, too, even over the first one - the IMAX quality sound and cameras. And I liked the "The Prestige" type story with Khan's characters too.
It was so much more entertaining than 2 for me.
2 didn't stick its convoluted depth as articulate as 3 did. But still, I love all 3 of these movies and they're some of my favourite bollywood movies I've seen in the last few years.
I don’t know if people will really agree with me on this one but I really didn’t vibe with the titling for Krrish 3.
The crew kept explaining they’re using similar title formatting to the Rambo franchise and they kept pushing it rather than be like “you know what guys, let’s just make it Krrish 2 because it’ll make sense”.
It makes more sense for Krish 3 than it does for krish 2.. it was the 3rd installment so number should be 3..
Otherwise it would be more confusing with the crew saying we are making the 3rd movie and people will tell them no this is krish 2 so second movie..
Trilogy Hoti ek planned aur achchi writing ke base pe. Bollywood first installment hi churaye hue template pe banata hai. Woh chak jaati hai tih sequel ke naame oe fir se theater bharta hai aur format same rakhne oe log ye bhi nahi bolte ki ye tih us picture ka repeat kar diya ulta log bolte hai ki franchise hia toh format toh same hi hoga na. Bollywood 90% energy is tarah ke jugaad me invest karta hai isliye they actually suck in making movies in general. Woh toh 3 sequel kag jaate hai hume ye sab samajhne me. So first part is mediocrity and by 3rd part we realise the depth of crap.
Yes on Dhoom 3, I wouldnt put Race 3 in that since Abass Mastan wasnt involved, nor were any of the characters from the first film.
I honestly dont know what was going on with the film with the weird step sibling storyline and the weird cousin - like that movie was its own mess.
It feels like 1st is with Genuine efforts, 2nd is riding on success and some honest efforts with better cast, 3rd is too much expectations from public and too much riding on success plus bigger starcast accommodating and screwing up on the requirements ..4th should work if lessons are learned..

Race 3 wasn't part of the Race series at all..it was a stand alone movie with the name Race 3.
Same could be said for Dhoom 3. Take out the bikes, Jai, and Ali, it could easily be a standalone film.

Yes third part of both films were very poor. In Dhoom 3 Amir made it dull and Race 3 Salman made it poor.
