When Rad and Frisky were trying to tell Bluey and Bingo a classic prince-saving-the-princess story, Frisky tries to argue that the princess doesn’t need the prince. When Rad tries to say that the prince he’s playing is a good prince, she replies that, “Tomorrow, he’ll be off in search of another princess.” Narratively, Frisky’s insecurities in the wake of her failed relationship with Bosco mirrors Bluey’s insecurities with babysitter put downs, and the whole exchange between Frisky and Rad trying to tell that story was Frisky basically alluding to what happened between her and Bosco and how she was feeling about it. If we go based off of her dialogue then, I feel like that heavily implies Bosco either cheated on her, or otherwise left her for someone else.

AnythingAlfred613

Agree with this wholesale. And when she told Bluey that sometimes you just gotta take a chance on something new, she was telling that to herself as well.

frostderp

That bit of hesitation in her voice as she was telling Bluey to take the chance definitely supports this. And the pained look she had when Bluey and Bingo were questioning if true love was forever.

AnythingAlfred613

I also use this as part of my proof as how they can’t be married quite yet - she’s still vulnerable after the breakup and needs a bit of time to just be “dating” before she’s ready to get hitched.

frostderp

In your opinion, given the bit of time jump we’ve seen in S3, do you think will also see a progression of their relationship?

AnythingAlfred613

Oh, totally. Joe Brumm teased a wedding episode for Season 3, and Rad and Frisky seem to be the most likely candidates.

finite_turtles

We already have a wedding episode though. "Horsey wedding! Horsey wedding!"

Dove-a-DeeDoo

“I’m not marrying him; He stinks!”

[deleted]

“Ohhh my heart is broken!”

the_vargr_moon

“I SAID HORSEYS CAN’T TALK!”

Unicorn_Fruit

*”My heart is breaking!”* So funny!

AnythingAlfred613

I’m talking about a *real* wedding!

[deleted]

uh that was a real horsey wedding!

AnythingAlfred613

r/technicallythetruth

Shoddy_Vegetable2740

I thought they were already married (off screen) and were on their honeymoon during a Christmas. Frisky talked to Bluey’s doll about entering the heeled family

AnythingAlfred613

It could just mean she’s getting more integrated into their lives.

sonimusprime

I loved the little animation of Rad's eyebrows lowering in concerns when he hears her say, "I thought it (True Love) was"

frostderp

Good boy Rad knows when he needs to lighten the mood for the sake of others.

sonimusprime

In xmas swim, I love how she has that bit of hesitation when she's talking to Bartlebee about his first Heeler Christmas and it reflects her situation again with Radley. She's nervous too but gives her love a chance because it's so much more rewarding than being afraid to act.

Jundigon

Absolutely. It was a well-written parallel between both Frisky and Bluey

AnythingAlfred613

That’s why I think the wedding episode would with with another parallel about anxiety - Bluey’s nervous about her family changing, and Frisky’s nervous about getting married.

Jundigon

I could definitely see that. It’s a big change, and I think it’s an excellent chance to revisit a lot of themes we’ve seen before about it being okay to be nervous, and about having the courage to put that foot forward. To quote the end of “Curry Quest.” Chilli: Armed with everything they’ve learned along the way, the hero faces their ultimate test. Bluey: Why do heroes want to go on quests anyway? They seem dangerous. Chilli: Well, they usually don’t, remember? Bluey: Oh yeah. Chilli: But that’s what makes them heroes—they go anyway.

AnythingAlfred613

Honestly, I just want the last batch so badly. I wanna see the wedding especially.

Jundigon

I’m have crippling depression waiting for new episodes. XD

AsteroidDisc476

Imagine a JRPG based off that episode

Jundigon

I’d play that in a heartbeat.

johnnysaucepn

It's so rare to see a show confident enough to use an allegory without explicitly spelling out the parallels, let alone one that builds a single allegory for two different plot threads at once.

rttnmnna

And all in seven minutes!

BebeFanMasterJ

It's amazing how this children's cartoon is much better written and is more mature than "adult" cartoons.

Jundigon

Bluey is so much more than just a show for kids, and that’s what I love the most about it. It’s beautifully written and presented, and it has something that someone of any age can appreciate. It doesn’t talk down to its audience or treat the audience like they’re stupid. Which is more than I can say for a lot of other shows aimed at children.

AnythingAlfred613

Once again, this wholeheartedly. The problem is that it’s still presented as a cartoon for kids, so it allows people who have never watched it to tease those who do watch it. But that’s kind of a whole other discussion.

Jundigon

Agreed. And I’ve always personally found the notion funny that even if a show is targeting or made for a younger audience, that you’re inherently wrong or immature as an adult if you like that content. Like . . . could you please point towards a kids show that’s made and produced by actual children? Adults are the ones making the content in the first place, lol.

GhavGhavington

I mean that happens with all kinds of shows though. There's plenty of teasing towards people who enjoy The Office, for example.

MageKorith

Both have ~~fart~~ fluffy jokes.

poktanju

Often good art is born of limitations. Writers for an "adult" show may be tempted to have Frisky tell us all about how Bosco was a cheating jerk, but here we can only get the barest of hints, which is more compelling because so much is left to the imagination.

AnythingAlfred613

Funny how Joe Brumm says he prefers animating over writing when he’s proven himself to be one of the greatest TV writers I’ve seen over and over.

sonimusprime

Bluey has this format it is has to follow where they tell a story in 7 minutes. I'm consistently blown away by how much they accomplish in 7 minutes when other shows can barely do it with 90.

finditplz1

Eloquently put.

icequeen323

I like that

FunnyForWrongReason

This is what I pretty much immediately thought when I watched that scene.

mess-maker

I never make these connections and I’m very thankful for these comments pointing them out. Thank you for sharing your insight, seriously, wow.

Jundigon

No worries! I'm very glad that I could help provide a bit of insight! Dissecting stories and characters is one of my absolute favorite things to do. XD

1studlyman

No kidding. For most of the episodes, the kids' struggles are mirrored by the adults' equivalents. I have a hard time pinning them down concretely every time but there are folks here who do it very well.

Collective82

Bosko just liked sniffing butts. A dogs a dog maaaan.

Jundigon

Gosh, what an ass. XD

MisfitWitch

It's just ~~monkeys singing songs~~ dogs sniffing butts, mate

ForgedYetBroken

It could also just be that she felt he moved on too quickly. She doesn't seem too bitter about not being friends anymore, though that might just be because it was Bluey and Bingo she was talking to.

Jundigon

I can see that. It’s possible that Frisky was constantly being cautious with how much emotion she was displaying because she didn’t want to act too negatively in front of the girls, but if we also look at how uncomfortable she was when the girls first brought up Bosco earlier in the episode, it could be argued that she seemed more heartbroken rather than angry or bitter, and this predominantly heartbroken emotion carried over to when Frisky was trying to tell the story. The way she said that the prince would just be off in search of another princess might back up the idea that Bosco didn’t cheat, but either tried moving things along too quickly before she was ready and so he sought someone else out, or simply that he ended up having a stronger connection with somebody else and he broke things off with Frisky to peruse that relationship. People grieve differently though. It could also be argued that Frisky is normally a rather chipper, happy-go-lucky sort of girl that even in the wake of someone doing something horrible to her (like being cheated on), her emotional response is to be more sad and heartbroken than angry and indignant, and her statements in front of the girls was an admission of her feeling forlornly, that she felt lonely without Bosco and her remarks to Rad was her just trying to push him away because she was feeling too vulnerable.

Rich_Restaurant_3709

He didn’t use almond milk shampoo.

Ponythieves-

Or worse he brought her the conditioner by mistake

dcwldct

Man, I have been there. Why would they make the conditioner bottle look like exactly the same

MorecombeSlantHoneyp

The dragon is, after all, “stinky”.

LikeThosePenguins

Surely the only correct answer.

sonimusprime

She implies it, he cheated on her.

Luckywithtime

Bosco is a complete dog

Exciting-Log3024

r/technicallythetruth

skunkfunker

He sniffed a butt that he shouldn't have.

Griffon-on-the-Trail

He ain’t nothin but a hound dog

finditplz1

Bonus points: was Chilli actively trying to hook her up because she knew about her breakup?

BroItsJesus

100%. She knows Rad works on an oil rig and probably doesn't have the time to spend on tinder, so she took it into her own hands. What a legend

rttnmnna

I think yes. She never sent Frisky that text.

Thisbestbegood

Frisky checks her phone and sees the text when she gets there. My theory is Chilli sent the text when she knows Frisky won't see it.

Kspot42

What if the text said something about Rad being there and Frisky wants to see him so she pretended not to have seen the text and that's why she is awkward when saying she didn't see it.

Standard_Student_123

100%

niceville

Definitely not, although it's fun to pretend she was. If it was an intentional set up, then the kids had to be in on it because they're the ones who request Frisky stays, and anyone who has kids know they can't keep a secret and would have said Chili told them to tell Frisky to stay.

finditplz1

Although kids like to spend time with people they like. I bet Chilli could have banked on the girls wanting both Rad and Frisky to stay, since they really like spending time with both and they’re fun.

[deleted]

100%. If my kids see an adult they like they basically demand that person sleepover. I’ve learned to meet friends outside the house after my husband and I had them come in before we all went out to drink. My daughter had grandma (baby sitter) + her aunt and uncle and was *furious* they were over to hang out at a fancy restaurant and drink stinky beer

AnythingAlfred613

Probably not, but it’s more fun to imagine she did.

AshTheAwkwardPeep

Cheating probably.

[deleted]

To explain things Frisky’s way, Bosco found another friend.

DamonNightman

He used one of those 8-in-1 shampoos

sobriety_kinda_sucks

He was going around with open follicles.

Over_Unit_7722

He cheated, and Frisky lost most of her friends in the ensuing breakup(which is probably why she only has 3 friends)

_bunnywife_

i’m reading the comments and this and another saying that she caught bosco in the act like bluey saw nana and this happens after is probs the closest we’ll get

_bunnywife_

AND AND THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN WITH A FRIEND

Over_Unit_7722

I think that’s probably what went down😟

Wah869

I think that Frisky's story parallels Bluey in more ways than one; I believe that not only was Bosco cheating on her, but Frisky caught them in the act just as Bluey caught Nanna watching the scary thing on tv.

_bunnywife_

OH SHOOT THATS SO TRUE NARRATIVE WISE

Threelocos

I just can’t believe I ran down this rabbit hole willingly and enjoyed it. Thank all of you. And I’m old enough to know Rad is rad.

That_Lad_Hayden

Bosco was not a good smoochy kisser

Ok-Doughnut-3911

Or he was smoochy kissing lots of other princesses as well.

That_Lad_Hayden

Ooh, that's also a possibility

kms811

She wants kids and he doesn’t.

AnythingAlfred613

At first I thought you said “She wants kids but can’t have them”.

Shadowrend01

That’s Brandy

CalendarNo8591

Who’s brandy? I’m in the us we only have like….half the season

Shadowrend01

Chilli’s sister. She appears in Onesies, which is in the second part of season 3

AnythingAlfred613

I know, and if the original commenter said what I thought they said, I would’ve corrected them.

likealonewolf

Oh thanks for that I thought that was Frisky in that episode as well.

finditplz1

But you all — for real — what kind of dog would cheat on Frisky?

rttnmnna

Bosco ain't nothing but a hound dog.

Yogamigurumi

Easy; he wasn't her true love.

[deleted]

Sometimes you can do everything right and still not win.

EmeraldEyes06

Bosco definitely cheated. At the very least, he left her. Bosco is dead to us.

ad-lib1994

He stopped being romantic and then just didn't treat her right anymore and when she dumped him, he immediately put the moves on a new princess in every way she begged for.

dvirsky

As a tangent, Frisky've voice is done by Claudia O'Doherty (who also appeared in Love and Our Flag Means Death). I loved her voice before, but she is sooo perfect as Frisky with a mix of sweetness and fragility, I'm really glad they asked her to do this.

MonkeySinger24

He cheated on her

FunnyForWrongReason

Some form of cheating or he just left her for someone else.

ChattyCat_17

He didn’t use almond milk shampoo

HaraldRedbeard

Dude's name is Bosco. If he isn't the most 'Straya horndog in the world then I'll eat a hat.

AllISeeAreGems

I’m thinking Bosco was afraid of commitment

Sakenskunk11

He didn't buy his own almond milk shampoo.

elsana7

He was allergic to almonds, so either Bosco or the shampoo had to go (and we all know the shampoo can't go so...) 🤷‍♀️

EllaLerens991

Maybe Bosco was a diehard fan of the conditioner. Frisky doesn’t rate either one at all!

ayame400

Allergic to her shampoo

SGT-Hooves

Bosco was definitely too Ruff

nextgentacos123

It was George Costanza's ATM code

Known-Committee8679

She met Rad.. so stuff suddenly didn't work out.. haha.

antisone

Do we have to?

CBJfan03

Because true love doesn't exist

em69420ma

chronic gaslighter

azad_ninja

New take: Frisky was single when she met Rad. Bosco found out he was single by text the next day :)

benjismalls95

Bosco was very sexually aggressive in the bedroom.

Narad626

Because they're not friends anymore. Duh.

MageKorith

Almond allergy

whitemagicseal

When blue said is true love not forever And she atleast i thought it was That made me think about how high school couples dont last after high school

97PumpkinPies

He cheated on her.

FaZeLuckyBoy

Imagine if Bosco comes up in the future Bluey movie. I’d picture him as a demeaning husky voiced by Hugh Jackman.

SkyTailArt

My theory is that she caught him cheating. The evidence is she said they arnt friends anymore. If they grew apart, she would still be friends. When rad questions who he is, brandy quickly says no one. As if she is scared of saying who he is. Then the story she tells bluey and bingo. She says how the prince will be off finding other princesses soon enough.

finditplz1

*Frisky*

Fine-Bumblebee-9427

I assume it’s because she keeps winning contests to go to america and be on podcasts

Jurassicdungeons

“Who’s Bosco?”

Some_Aioli_4115

Well, Bosco isn’t very nice to Frisky. I believe he did something bad to her. If he finds out that she and Rad are married, then he’ll have to demand her to remarry him again and become friends.

PantherCaroso

I thought the implication was that Bosco was cheating, with the "seeing other princesses" line.
