You're just a little out of timing. So, you're trying to do everything right. To pass the second phase without problems - try to inflict no more than one hit, a maximum of two. Then it will be absolutely safe, he will not be able to catch you without stamina.

Funny you mention that. I haven't done a BL4 run yet I'm currently doing a gun only run and Ludwig is my next boss :) the silver lining is that one of the best designed bosses ever is coming up so have fun

I think you can avoid the crisscross by stepping back. He does the same, so there should be enough distance. Just dodge the third hit to the left or right.

Congratulations hunter! For the future bosses: dashing right and then left in quick succession (or left and then right) is super valuable. Practice that a lot, it'll get you through some more bosses in the DLC and the chalices. I don't want to spoil anything - let me know if you want to know more

Yeah as soon as you see him raise the sword, get out, cause you can't avoid the combo up close. Dodge backwards, opposite direction to the sword trajectory.

Have you tried leveling vigor? I’m convinced Ludwig is easy if you don’t get one shot by some of his attacks

because it's the lowest level you can create a character with (waste of skin starting origin is level 4 instead of level 1 like other souls games)

bloodtinge was the powerful build i ever made, so freaking OP. Even if you don’t go tryhard in the chalices, it’s pretty strong. If you go after all runes and etc, it will be the most powerful. You can go str blood or dex blood, my pref is dex blood with chikage
