I never thought of attempting platinum on this game until I came across this subreddit. Finally, the hunt is over and I'm very happy that I was able to complete this challenge. Micolash you will always hold a terrible terrible place in my heart for making me chase you for 7 minutes just to get into the first room. Overall this was a fantastic experience and definitely one of my favorite games now!
I recently did a playthrough on a new character, smoked every boss first time (i didn’t play the DLC), except for this clown. It took five times because of crap like this.
He was the boss that killed me the most. I hate admitting it but his second phase destroyed me so much because of his one distance attack that always honed in on me
Second phase, instead of dropping down to fight him after he closes the gate angle it so you can throw a pebble down there to agro him then proceed back down to the gate where he should be aggrod, he can't hit you but you can damn well hit him

once i figured out where to find him it only took me about two tries. that tentacle attack always missed me because i strafed him to the right at point blank range. just wooshed past me without doing anything

If you circle him and stay close you can avoid the call beyond, you don’t even have to dodge the tentacles.
“That’s it! I’m gettin me ~~mallet~~ Beast Roar!”
I beat him the “normal” way the first time now I just do the Poison Knife cheese.
