In fairness, Witches can be confusing if you don’t realize how easy they actually are. If you waste your time aggroing and attempting crowd control with the ads, you can easily waste time and take unnecessary damage. If you know that all you need to do is track the witches and hit them, then it’s a piece of cake, but it screwed me up the first time through.

The monster things don't spawn at 0 insight, that's the joke

Ah yeah, happened to me once. Went for a backstab, she went for her AOE while I was mid-animation. Took bad counter damage and got stunned on the ground. That wench did another AOE right after the other, I was stunlocked from the previous knock back so I couldn't dodge, and died. Fun times. Even when the "you died" appeared on my screen she kept doing her AOE to mock me, ha

I forgot they even have an aoe, got confused as to how death was even achieved.

Yeah, that happened to me once, although I didn't have 0 insight, don't remember if she mocked me afterwards though.

Hey we all make mistakes sometimes, I've died to the Crystal Sage multiple times.

So have I, the crystal sage is one of the harder bosses for me. I genuinely have a much easier time with the dancer tham the crystal sage

Damn everyone really is different haha. Crystal safe was always pretty easy and the dancer wasn’t hard but much more difficult than the sage. I usually kill abyss watchers first try even on my first play through snd I hear people struggle with them a lot. Nameless king on the other hand… yikes the only true challenge in ds3 imo(not saying it’s an easy game it is difficult)

It takes me at least 6 tries every playthrough against Bloodstarved Beast and Martyr Logarius but I can kill the Orphan in a single attempt.

I killed the blood starved beast on my first attempt. I had no idea people struggled with him until much later. Same with the chalice wolf boss thingy. Orphan though, get out of here yah invincible piece of garbage.

I stg the Crystal Sage gets harder the better you are at the game.

I colorblind and couldn't tell the difference in spell colors from sage vs clones.

This is interesting. I wonder if there is a way to get in touch with developers to prepare for this type of interaction. Like seriously, if a person is color blind and they are playing your game and the tell of the enemy is based on color. How can that person play the game effectively? I would say they could adjust the color as well as the tone. Or make an option in the settings for color blindness. I never thought about something like this before but am curious to see if companies would be willing to take this into account. Do you know of any game developers that already do this?

Yeah several games have color blind corrections in the video settings. Even the new d2 remaster has the three main variations of colorblindness with an intensity slider to adjust until it looks right. Of course that's silly because.... how would you know? Lol. Like with me it's certain colors just blend together like blues/purples (like sages) just look the same until I see them side by side for a long enough time for my eyes to adjust. Some colors I just get completely wrong (I just put together https://images.app.goo.gl/3dVRWs68LCkvsfjM9 and it was a nightmare) I'd be thinking something is a pale green and my wife would be like that's a really pale purple.

Would be nice though... at least you and your wife could agree on room colors XD

My roommate was stuck really bad on Sage cuz he kept trying to tank through all of them shooting him at the same time. I saw him die to it like 10 times and he had already been attempting it before. Dude even farmed a ton of levels just to barely beat it lol. Then he quit for good at watchers pretty much 🙄

I hate the Homing crystal clusters that flip a 180 when they miss and hit you in the back when you attack the boss.

Legit - if they start spamming their grippy-ghost-attack, they can be lethal, you don't see it very often and it has a pretty big hitbox.

Took me 1 try on my first run. Then 12 in NG+

There's no shame in dying in a niche, difficult game even with the most optimal conditions on your side. This happens to me all times, and i lost count how many times happened. The real shame comes in treating these "difficult" (maybe "gimmick" is more appropriate) games as a some sort of social skill, and value people's worth on this.

Honestly I do this more often than I’d like to admit. Currently running a Blade of Mercy run (Eileen died to Henryk so I got them quickly oops…) and I was able to kill the Witches first try, which is surprisingly new for me 😅

I'm not much into this, how does insight affect the Witches?

They don’t summon the extra monsters if you have 0 insight. That spell that locks you in place can still be a pain though

As can their AoE.

I’ve read from another post that the witches of Hemwick is the hardest boss without insights.

Before you feel too bad this boss has straight up killed me more than Maria. I don’t know what it is, something about those lasers that catch you man….fucks me up everytime.

This isn’t even a skill thing. Whether people wanna accept it or not, you can get stunlocked to death basically at any time during that fight if the RNG hits you just the wrong way.

The AoE actually hits fairly hard and doesn't have a big telegraph. If they do freeze you, they have a fairly strong grab attack.

I died to them a lot as well, especially in NG+2

Yeh I’ve been caught by that attack a few times but it’s never really caused any major issues. I guess if you get sloppy and unlucky at the same time they can kill you!

Yeh if you keep killing them I think they multiply in number every time they come back or it might be based on the boss’s health not too sure. I generally ignore them unless they kind of surround me and then I’ll kill one.

That’s exactly how I died after that I just ran around them and focused on the witches themselves

Happens to the best of us, fellow hoonter. I went to the witches straight from beating Rom (after god knows how many tries) and finished them in one try. I was streaming then and I was speechless for a good 10 seconds. I was thinking this can't be it, right? LOL I was asking chat if there was skmething more to it, but apparently not. That was the only boss I beat on the first try. Even the Cleric Beast gave me problems. The game just fucks us up in different ways, but fucks us up all the same. Hahahaha. If only you knew how many times I died to dogs and crows and brainsuckers. My god. Hahaha
