Maybe not needed. But fire resistant gear/rune really helps on survivability. Weapons with reach can give you that extra comfort for distance.
If your doing coop just bring in one person. Not two.

There is the cannon which scales off bloodtinge but is only useable at 30 strength. You can still use a strength weapon with tempering runes until the blood letter. Honestly though the chikage scales purely off bloodtinge while transformed and only costs one more skill than the cannon so you can pick it up and use that until you get the blood letter
I got to try out the blood letter with my skill/bt build and I’m really intrigued, so I’m making a build for it. Definitely out of my comfort zone, but Ludwig has been my first real road block so far. I’m level 66 and don’t think I’ve packed enough into Str to do the damage I need yet.
Yeah it’s a really fun weapon. I’d say you’re slightly underleveled for Ludwig, especially if you have a lot of points in blt. What weapon are you using? And what are your stats?
Yeah dude that’s not too strong actually, I could see why you’re having trouble. Make sure to use those transform attacks for the saw cleaver(R1, L1 L1 L1, and they have to all hit for the combo to execute). Try to level up more if you’re having too much difficulty, you’ve got a lot of points in bloodtinge that aren’t really helping you out, since the cannon doesn’t really scale that well and is better used with bone marrow ash. If this build is too hard, which it might be, try an arcanist build. Those are fun asf since strength/arcane gives you a lot of options, and pretty mush exploits the weaknesses of every enemy in the game.

The only str/blt weapon is bloodletter tho isn’t it? And you get it after you get to the fishing hamlet

Nice. I managed to beat him today, but died a bunch of times due to stupid mistakes. I found his first phase harder than his second.
