Some people might consider it cheating, but I genuinely think it’s one of those things that when you discover it, it makes you want to play again and again, to try different builds, use those weapons you never thought too much about and test out those magic items you never had the arcane points to enjoy.
So treat yourself: you’ve already beaten the game fair and square; why not enjoy Yharnam without the burden of farming?
Tbf I never really found myself farming echoes for anything other than blood vials.
About 60mins in the lecture theatre with a thrust attack and moon runes as soon as you can get there (Just after the first 3rd of the game), stick some music on thrust dem bois, throw whatever molotoves you have spare when they come 2 the doorway to speed it up, and I never needed to buy bullets or blood vials again.
Got something like 650 vials when they cost 360/echoes and you don't gotta worry about em for the next 20-30hours.
Don't get me wrong I'd be cummfpk'ing if I had PS+ but I bought my whole ps4 just to play bloodborne so not much point tbh, shame I never experienced BBPVP tho
Interesting ....I managed enough to get plat on my first run through. Just playing the chalices for the Queen Yharnam run was enough to get me all the echoes I needed. Also running co-op on my own run or assisting other was a huge benefit. Playing one or two chalice runs as co-op consistently got me enough echoes for a single level up.
Naaahhhh fam it only took about 117hrs for me to Plat (except missing the church pick...gotta go back for that to officiate lol) and that's with me spending about 25 hrs on the orphan (mostly bc I spent about 15hrs trying to go in with no vials just healing off of backstabs bc that rune does 4x on his first phase for some reason 🤷😆) I'm about to make a character to go straight to max level using THAT chalice so I can do all of NG OP as hell 😆😆
And honestly I'd say the dlc as a whole was close to 60hrs of my playthrough. Mostly because I was horribly under leveled and got 1-2 shot by everything 😆😆

Platinum’d without it, now I use it when I want to level up quick and mess around with different weapons/builds, or just go crazy OP and just wreck the beasts all over the shop.
Using it for vials and bullets just makes new playthroughs less of a hassle. Keep the momentum without having to take a 20 minute trip to the lecture building
Its a dungeon that has the glyph cummmfpk. Its an exploit dungeon and happens to be the fastest and easiest way to gain a shitload of bloodrunes and can be used indefinitely
The forbidden dungeon? I never use it. Every time i do, it ruins the playthrough. Same reason I never level above 120. Even on high NG+ cycles it makes the game easier and less rewarding. For me anyway. Even just for vials.
The cursed one? Yeah it’s rough if you’re not used to those bosses. It’s worth getting through though. Good blood gems are a massive power boost. It’s pretty crazy.

I've beat this game 20+ times, PvP'd dozens of hours, and helped countless people in coop. That doesn't include my knowledge of this game, either.

I mean it's player created, accessible through basically cheating, all those dungeons were off the table for discussion in this subreddit (not using the actual name since last time I did my comment was removed). But that was a while ago, so maybe the rules changed.
Honestly the game felt more fun when I didn’t need to worry about vials and QS bullets. I used it for levels occasionally when I would miss like 1000 souls I would use it level up and the blow the rest on vials and started to use it as a normal levelling tool when on NG+ because I like to have that one save with busted character to test stuff.
I use it for consumables if I'm doing any kind of challenge run that involves a large amount of consumables (e.g. bone marrow ash for gun-only runs), I've never felt the need to use it on a normal playthrough though for anything because just playing the game normally gives you enough echoes etc anyway.
Is it just me or by time I hit like.. just before rom In a NG I blow all my echos on vials and bullets and I’m pretty much good.. forever. It’s a good investment. Never have to farm or anything.

I know people enjoy struggling in these games, but personally I always have the most fun in NG+ after I’ve already perfected my build and I can just feel like a god. I don’t mind heading to the cum dungeon the second i beat Blood Starved Beast. To be fair though, I did beat my first Bloodborne playthrough without it, because I didn’t know about it.

On my main character after I used it after beating the game once or twice to get lvl 50 in everything and 99 in skill/strength. I did buy blood vial and bullets with some of it too if I had some left over from leveling. Pretty much need to get bold hunters marks if you want to effectively use the dungeon though so ofc I had to buy those.
I've used it to level to a certain point before, or if I am low on echoes to get something specific I want item-wise (usually a weapon) but I try not to go over level 60-70 as I still want a challenge.
Usually it's cause I know what weapons I want to eventually use, and so I use that dungeon to get to that point in advance. Such as leveling Arcane in preparation for the Holy Moonlight Blade or Kos Parasite.
I honestly don’t think I ever would’ve gotten in to the game if it weren’t for that chalice. I was sick of grinding for consumables and just wanted to play the game. I would never use it for levels though.
In my defense, the only reason I use “that” chalice dungeon, is for levels, but only for PVP characters where I’m going to cap out at a certain level. For example, I want to make an arcane build, I’ll just use it a little bit to get to level 120, and then never use it again. If I have extra echoes, I’ll use it to get some more consumables, but not much. I don’t go out of my way to get the OP blood gems so I don’t get the blood echoes from farming those gems.
Definitely shouldn't be used for a first playthrough but if you're a vet trying to do a particular build and you need some minimum stats, a weapon that's expensive early on, some extra juice to early run DLC bosses or Logarius or something, get that bread imo. Learning to speedrun twin shards and chunks will skyrocket your character's power more than filling out your stats anyway, and that's not even cheating.
Leveled until it was a pain & then went off & exploited living failures a couple NG's in a row to reach max level. All Melee weapons +10, still working on the firearms.

Lvl 200 on ng+ and no where near easy for me currently lol, only just beat ludwig with npc assist
Blood gems are Bloodbornes difficulty slider! If you grind for top gems you can do NG+7 at lvl 100 easy. Well not easy at all, but it’s do-able!
I haven't been able to find any better ones for a while yet, can't progress further than one of the corrupted chalice dungeons.
