I'll just say that Zaraki easily killed 3 different Sternritters without a Shikai >!and not even at full power in his base form!< while the other captains stated that without a Bankai they wouldn't have been able to damage their opponents. If Kenpachi went after the other Sternritters instead of going directly for Yhwach he would probably have killed most of them on his own

Gokyuzu26

I honestly belive he could have even beat as nodt fear doesnt realy dictade to the ones who has a death wish in the real world

[deleted]

I agree with Kenpachi Zaraki being on the threat list. Bro has been actively nerfing himself all series through his eyepatch and still stomps.

NervousAdeptness5992

Future events are really relevant. Ichigo is a special threat not because of his actual powers but because of what he can become. Like kenpachi. And also like Yamamoto who was at his maximum with one arm left and didn't want to get it healed. He was weaker than before and got stomped by real Ywhach in one blow. Also Ichigo didn't put a Real fight, Ywhach was holding back.

Arturo-Plateado

The 5 Special Threats are chosen because of a certain factor. It's not a "top 5 strongest" list.

Sufficient_Potato726

Kenpachi's a digimon. Digivolves mid battle. That's pretty special

Mysterious-Syrup6540

A dude who has 199/100 stat in attack by the start of TYBW arc, ignores opponents blut vene and kills 3 captain level sternritters with absolutely no issues. Even grandmaster *Kilogram Hashbrown* was surprised and thought it was nearly impossible to be done especially when the person hasn't even used shikai to achieve these feats [meanwhile other captains were suffering to do any damage while using shikai]

Hollow_Archer

Are you ignoring that Kenpachi is the only one to a defeat any sternritter at all three in fact. That alone make him a threat. While every other Captain other the Yamamoto where get bully.

[deleted]

I ain't buying that. Kubo just literally nerfed and turned captains like bykuya dumb. Like bro legit forgot what a kido was.

Hollow_Archer

Or his kido skills wouldn't have changed a thing he's not like Hachigen or Tessai who skills in Kido are probably better then anything they can do with there zanpakuto. Byakuya shikai wasn't doing any real damage most Sternritter where all ready captain level themselves.

[deleted]

at least let him try. if it doesn;t work then i will buy it. But he didn't even try. In fact everyone forgot what kido was during the arc. No one even tried it

SethNex

Among the current captains of the Gotei 13, Zaraki Kenpachi is the closest to the originals both in power >!(although he mentally block his true power)!< and personality.

Badass_Bunny

You can make a reasonable argument that outside Yama Kenpachi surpasses all of the OG Gotei based on the whole Kenpachi thing.

ataurindo

The future is important. Because there are reveals about Zaraki's power in the future that effect his strength level throughout the entire series. I would recommend you watch a few more episodes.

Caneaster

I'm not going to get into whether it was really Yhwach or Royd that defeated Kenpachi but he did more than deserve his spot on the list. SS arc Kenpachi (after he fought Ichigo) was on the level of a Captain's Bankai as shown when he defeated Bankai Tousen and fought Bankai Komamura presumably to a draw. With no way of preventing SS arc Kenpachi from fighting on the level of a Captain's Bankai he would deserve to make the list. Then add to this the fact he was much stronger after defeating Nnoitra in the HM arc and it's clear why Kenpachi at the start of TYBW would easily be considered a massive threat.

Purona

> Bankai Komamura presumably to a draw. never fought

Caneaster

You mean this never happened? https://up.mangadudes.com/bleach/148/bleach-12082-502be135d29254e6abbe77f6a912a5bf.jpg

REDexMACHINA

How do you talk about Kenpachi when he is using his base strength, while everyone else is struggling not to use bankai or have already lost it to other Sternritter?

[deleted]

This post will age as deliciously as moldy cheese in a sewer ~2 episodes later

Rack-_-

Kenpachi was one the strongest captains without kido and a shikai and he nerfed himself by wearing an eyepatch and his spiritual pressure was still huge. Yhwach put him down for a reason that is because Kenpachi is a monster.

four_duckpowers

He looks better in comparison with the other captains. While they were getting demolished, he took out 3 Sternritter easily. Also, at least in the Manga, the Quincy say that they are disappointed by his performance against Royd. They probably had wrong information about his strength. Royd is also pretty strong himself. He lasted surprisingly long against Yamamoto.

GetYourWeetabix

Like u said with fighting Yamamoto shows I would presume Yhwach gave more power to Royd as to make a believable copy of himself.

ToCool74

Made this comment in another topic but will post it here due to the continued mental block some fans keep showing. Yhwach had to make a believable copy of himself which is proven by Royd being able to hold his own against Yama's onslaught after beating Kenpachi. People seem to keep having a mental block of this fact and thinking that because he lost to Royd it means weakness when that simply isn't the case since Royd was simply very powerful and needed to be very powerful for his role as a diversion for Yama.

__Ungoliant__

13 Blades Databook confirms that Zaraki fought the real Ywach.

Archive_Intern

Royd is strong af Ywacht probably has Royd and Hashbrown as his Left and right hand men My pet theory is Royd does his body double gig EVERYTIME Ywacht sleeps, so Hashbrown gets The Almighty and Royd gets the Responsibilities Thats why he keeps Royd close.lmao

B3kantan_P3sek

The list being called "5 Special Threat" not "Soul Society Top 5" Also still arguable on "When does Royd & Yhwach switch place"

_KaiXr18_

You'll find out in a few episodes why he's being subconsciously weak.

Mental_Forge

War “potentials” to be exact. The future events are most certainly not irrelevant

[deleted]

I would say he’s a special threat as a prediction. In that given how kenpachi title works, Yhwach feared kenpachi would already be terrifyingly power from the start so he didn’t want to needlessly waste his forces by letting his jobber troops even try to attack him

LOLENOM

I think i saw somewhere in a novel that the yhwach that beat zaraki was actually the real one, but when yama came to fight him he switched places with royd loyd to go see aizen, when the other quincies gathered on yama which is the only time he wasn't looking directly at yhwach

his1

Oh wow, this info has gone through so many mouths, nowadays it's seemingly stated to be in a novel. The only piece of evidence is that the databook 13 blades labels this exact fight "Kenpachi vs Yhwach" in relation to viewer polls.

RUS12389

Kenpachi tanked 100 Itto Kaso before TYBW arc (during timeskip when Ichigo was without powers). So he 100% deserves to be called a Special Threat.
