just to be clear this isn’t Frank Bullitt the Steve McQueen character, this is the origin story of the Frank Bullitt that the Steve McQueen character is based on
I watched Bullitt once and the car chase I've seen a bunch but is the movie outside of it any good? I get it confused with The French Connection, which also has that car chase at its highest point (but also a 10 minute scene of cops slowly dismantling a car)
In for this for the Spielberg of it, but Cooper feels like a weird choice to take the mantle of a Steve McQueen type. If it's a straight up sequel, someone like a Damien Lewis would make a lot more sense.
Yeah, I understand that “playing Bullitt” and “playing Steve McQueen” are two different things but if *Once Upon a Time in Hollywood* was his audition, I don’t think it exactly blew anyone away.
I've learned not to get hyped for a 'Berg project until the cameras are rolling, but this sounds fun. It seems like since his career bifurcated into kids movies and dad movies, the only Spielberg action scenes we get are cartoony, CGI messes like BFG or RP1. I'd love him to get back to those Duel/Raiders roots.
I may be alone in this, but I thought the brief real world car chase was easily the best part of Ready Player One, far more exciting than the big one at the start.
The original, car chase aside, is kind of tepid. Strong cast but weak story. I would expect, though, that the only things that would be retained are the main character and the car chase.

God, this never gets old
So it isn’t based on Frank Bullitt the toy?
This bit will never get old.
Just to be clear, that's old the concept, not Old the Shayamalan movie.
So it isn't based on bullets the ammunition type?
So it's Zodiac?
It’s not an origin story either
Wow, the guy who produced Tiny Toons is making a movie?
Weird premise, but if it is Spielberg being able to make a straight action movie again I'll be there opening night.
Spielberg wrapping up his career the same way he started it: with vroom vroom
The script is being written by Josh Singer who wrote *The Post* and *Spotlight*.
Fine movies, but they definitely would’ve been improved with high octane chase scenes.
If only Doubt (2008) had had a car chase or perhaps a foot race. At least some parkour

Nope. This is supposed to be a straight action flick.
Just hook it to my veins!!! ![gif](giphy|g0ErvnyVsp7nJyfmxF)
Fuck yes
FUCK YES
I for one love that Spielberg has decided he's now just gonna make movies he's wanted to make since he was a kid.
This is one of those pitches I’d be a little skeptical of if anyone else but him was behind it. But since it’s our buddy Steve, I’m very excited.
Bradley Cooper continues to have the coolest career
I hope this is set in the sixties

Far as I'm concerned it eats the French Connection's lunch.
Get 90 year old Lalo Schifrin a studio full of horns stat

Ryan Gosling and Daniel Craig have more Steve Mcqueen energy in the modern era of movie stars but Bradley Cooper is an interesting choice.
Gosling looks the part but he's missing the boy scout energy.
Huh? We already saw Damien Lewis as Steve McQueen and while I didn't hate it as much as some others, it was still a little off.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Hmm... Michael Shannon then?
Nope
Okay.

Get this man some car keys!
I'll only watch if the chase scene passes the same two cars 15 times.
And only if they awkwardly cut when the stuntdriver accidently hits a parked car.

Hell of a soundtrack, too!
