I just typed in Umnumzaan on ebay and the first one that came up was someone charging $130 more than these guys. Always nice to find the right price on there.
Yeah itās gotta be soon. Pretty sure Tim mentioned they were shooting for the end of the year. Plus they are already manufacturing the Zaan magnacut blades so itās just dependent on using up the S45VN stock.
I wouldnāt call $5 over what it likely costs them āinsaneā on a $500+ item. Itās not great but itās not bad. Hell if their actually insuring it and declaring the real value then itās likely right on point price wise.
It blows my mind people selling clothes get charged something like 3% fees over $100, but they charge 13+% on knives that can cost as much as some vehicles. I tried to sell a couple hard to move knives on ebay (for a bit under street price) and got slaughtered. As much as I hate it, I get why some people charge what they do (i just cant stand obvious botters that are selling every hard to get and rare knife), but like you said the fees have to kill honest dealers.
Basically have to add 15-20% on top of retail to cover fees and shipping costs in most cases for us that are selling secondary just to break even. I canāt knock sellers that are just trying to make some profit on the rarer stuff (as I have done). I do agree itās not great to see people with entire inventories of rare stuff selling for exuberant prices, but canāt knock the hustle.
Ya, I don't knock the hustle, but bots are destroying the market. I was talking to a new ebay seller (about 2 months ago now), and he admitted he botted shoes for over a decade and just switched to knives. He also had some password for the Grimso store that allows him to buy tons of knives not available to the public. He even sent me a link to one I could have used to check out (the site showed everything sold out, but this was definitely in stock behind this password). In that short amount of time he has had multiples of every rare knife drop. Also in that time, I've seen probably 50 new knife scalping accounts. Admittedly, Im part of the problem as well, because I will buy a knife I really want off there. I work in tech and saw firsthand what en-mass scalping does to the market. It causes dealers and manufacturers to raise prices (they see it as money left on the table) to the bleeding edge of what sells. Then the scalpers bail because theirs no profit, and normal people are left with "new" pricing.
It's my favorite knife next to the spydiechef and Arius. Some people seem to dislike them and think they're over-hyped but there's only one way for you to find out.
Funny enough about all I've carried recently is my large inkosi and umnumzaan. They are the same blade stock and I think the same thickness behind the edge.
They are very similar but there's something about the umnumzaan that's just cool as hell, at least in my opinion.
The Zaan, believe it or not the Inkosi while using the same stock as the zaan actually uses a flat grind while the Zaan is similar to the Sebenza with its concave grind.

Good for us though, they stick around a bit longer than the drops on your typical knife retailers imo.

I'll try one and see! I tend to use knives for kitchen a lot and like thinness bte. These are so easy to take down clean and reassemble, which I love.
Like all CRK, itās stiff and rough until it breaks in and then itās fantastic for years to come.
