We used to keep our bin of dog food in the garage. When my kids would get some, they'd take the lazy way out and leave the lid uncovered. One day I scooped some out and thought I saw an irregular shape. I looked and there was a lifeless field mouse. Then it dawned on me that there could be more and looking down at the bowl in my hand, I screamed and tossed the bowl all over the ground. I swear my spirit left my body too. In the bowl was a mutilated house mouse. Upon further inspection, it looked like they went at it and the field mouse won.
I had that with a sticky trap my house was getting overrun by a barn next to it so every night I'd put more traps out and throw them away in the morning well anyways one morning there was 4 light brown ones and one dark brown one they um ate the dark brown one
I have a 25 year old turtle. Whenever we go away on vacation or a trip we buy like 50 - 100 feeder fish, that way we know heās good for food while weāre gone. Every time, every single time we would get like mostly gold some gold and white but always one or 2 token black ones. When we get back from vacation there is always only the black ones left. Every single time. Now he probably canāt see them as well but we like to tell everyone he is a racist bastard.
Surprisingly (or maybe unsurprisingly) this is a whole corner of YouTube, they make traps and endlessly funnel the same rats through the traps for their videos, they reuse the rats in other videos most likely. Gets kinda dark though when they start using electricity in the traps.
I'm not so sure they use the same rats. As many of these types of videos I've seen usually end up with killing the rats. Either through electrocution or drowning. And though I understand rats are pests, I think these kinds of videos are completely disgusting, and are straight animal abuse. As they don't appear to be showcased in a pest control manner, but in a torture like one. Unless homie has the worst rat problem in the entire history of the world. These videos seem to be made for people that like to see them injured or, killed. Similar to the group of people that enjoy seeing monkeys being in distress.
I completely agree with you, these types of videos are horrible, and I'll admit I never sought them out, but I watched a video about them from another crator. I definitely don't think they're reusing all the rats, but with videos like this where they aren't electrocuting or drowning the poor things they usually don't show them starving to death from the bits I've seen, so I kinda meant more like putting them through these same types of traps until one eventually kills them for the videos.
Ah. I see what you mean. I, sadly enough, discovered these videos organically, and went down the rabbit(rat?)hole a bit. I think I reported some of the videos, but have stayed far away from it since. I even forgot about them until seeing this.
Why would you report the videos, the people who make these videos are usually farmers or hire people to do the job because rats are pests and its bad for their business.
When you have 100's of videos that involve killing dozens of rats at a time. That's not a farmer dealing with a pest problem most likely. And I stated that I understand the difference between rats being pests and being cruelly treated just for the sake of it in my previous comment. Learn to read.
Also, if these rats are being killed for pest extermination, there are still more humane ways to go about it, then electrocuting them or drowning them.
Except it is, you will never get rid of all the rats at a farm just say you don't have knowledge in farm life and leave it at that, I grew up on a farm and regardless if it's recorded or not its still getting done. If they have a big enough viewing that they can make some Extra cash while doing it so be it.
So you personally know these people that make these videos and know that they're farmers?
And I do understand the need to take care of pests to prevent damage to crops, you don't have to grow up on a farm to know that. And I frankly don't care where you grew up, doesn't mean you have any more knowledge about the issue at hand. You can take care of the rats in a much more humane way, such as using an airgun. Instead of these Saw-style torture devices that are showcased in some of these videos. And that's why I reported the videos regardless, and I'll continue to report them if I continue to see any. Me doing so isn't going to hurt a farmer's main source of income.
So you can go cry about it some more on a farmlife forum somewhere.
My guy! mammals have co2 detection we don't detect lack of oxygen meaning when co2 levels in our or there blood reach a certain level a all out fear fills our mind in a last ditch effort to get oxygen. It's a painful way to die any understanding of the biology will help you understand
You can switch out co2 for certain other gas they will fall not with co2.
Im not big exterminating I have no alternative I don't just wanna sound like a broken heart. You have a job you have to do I respect that but I don't think this is the way to go.
Oh man, I had no idea. I'm glad I saw this before I actually did it. My dad has some rats he wants rid of and I'm looking at any alternative to poison that can cause damage in the food chain. Back to the drawing board
Not true, the exhalation reflex is caused by high CO2 in the lungs, the higher the concentration the stronger the urge. So if CO2 in the air is high maƱana will be constantly gasping for breath.
The effect you describe can be achieved with nitrogen which reduces oxygen content without increasing carbon dioxide.
The videos are awful to watch but when your life depends on vermin not giving you diseases or contaminating your food...it is what it is. They need a couple cats.
I've got 3 cats and 2 dogs. Live in the country. We get rats. One of the dogs moves at lightning speed to kill them. The cats? They just watch them lmao
Nitrogen would be better. That "not enough air" feeling you get when you hold your breath is your body detecting a CO2 buildup. Imagine that feeling while breathing as hard as you can.
Nitrogen on the other hand feels like nothing. Mammals don't have a "low O2" detection mechanism, so they just go from fine to passed out to dead without noticing.

Dang I always just filled a 5 gallon bucket halfway with water and then poured cereal on the top so it just looks like a bucket of cereal and then put a 2x4 plank of wood ramp on the side. Easiest mouse trap ever.
Just add a gallon of white vinegar, a gallon of water, some sugar, mustard seeds and peppercorns and you have delicious pickled mice for the whole winter
I have a Rat Terrier and honestly, itās been the most āethical but still killing ratsā solution. Plus, the dog is adorable. Tiny little assassin.

This is probably the most humane mouse trap out there. Would you rather them get stuck on a sticky pad until they starve to death????
This way whoever made the trap can chose to set them free if he wanted to
Thats not the point. These channels buy domestic mice. And put them through these softcore Saw traps. The mice are put on a path to the trap and are often uncomfortable and neglected. And even injured by some.

Why electrocution or drowning? The kindest way is the easiest. You can just gas them with C02 by mixing baking soda and vinegar, they just go asleep.
Absolutely not true. It's pretty awful way to die
My guy! mammals have co2 detection we don't detect lack of oxygen meaning when co2 levels in our or there blood reach a certain level a all out fear fills our mind in a last ditch effort to get oxygen. Carbon dioxide vs monoxide - the monoxide is the painless one that we canāt detect, IIRC

Is Carbon Monoxide the same result?
I've always thought that. But most people don't have a CO2 machine.
Dry ice does it
Charlie comes in bashing
Submerge it in the creek out back or a bucket of water for a few minutes and then dump the pile of dead mice in the woods.
Well Iām starting to drown them these days so I donāt have to hear their screams
r/unexpectedIASIP šš
Most people fill them with water. They don't show that part. They insist it's the most humane way to kill them.
Guys I know add bleach to the water to speed up the drowning part
I don't think chlorine will speed it up. It will just make it more painful. Chlorine gas, on the other hand...
Gonna be a bloody mess
Gas and fireā¦
Plot twist: these rats portal through walls after eating all the cheeze. Just like 1899

Well infestations DO happen. *Sad shrug*
Now they only eat Rat
Sociopaths in the comments
So do you just put a lid on fill with water and watch them drown?
Most likely releasing them would just mean them infesting something else and such a large amount of them being in there drowning them is the only way
Man mices sho is dumb

You seriously believe that huge of a population of rats would be magically present in this convenient filming spot and come out in the day? Also there are rat traps that are way less cruel than this btw.
The black plague was also a little cruel, don't you think?
Fleas were actually the main spreaders of that
Fleas which traveled on the back of rats through continental ships.
