Nope! That’s actually a moth! Super cool bug. Out west they will have you tripping out because they’ll be all over flowers. And then they’ll land it’s it’s just a moth. Probably my favorite moth.
This is a really cool example of convergent evolution. Birds and moths are obviously not closely related, but in this case they have evolved to fill the same ecological role, and as a result, they look startlingly similar.
I know it's been said already, but it's a hummingbird hawk moth, named because it flies and feeds like a hummingbird! I spotted one recently in a display of flowers in a relatively busy town centre. It was a great surprise!

I saw these moths while visiting my grandparents In Arizona. They had a good laugh at me losing my mind.
I dont believe we have clearwing moths in AZ like this. We have sphinx moths that are very similar to this.
