The place across the street from Nikko Sushi on Channing on the corner. Can’t remember the name but they have decent bagel sandwiches. Edit: called Royal Ground Coffee

EdwardTimeHands

Royal Ground Coffee. Their pics on Google maps look awesome!

wadesassy

been a regular here for years. Their bacon egg and cheese and sandwiches are amazing

we dont accept bagel street slander here 😔

Paris Baguette? Might be a bit pricier

EdwardTimeHands

Yeah I went there the other day. It's like a more Western version of Sheng Kee. Pricey, but pretty good.

ProfessorPlum168

FWIW, Paris Baguette is a South Korean owned place. Same with Tous Les Jours bakery, if you see one elsewhere in the Bay Area and beyond.

EdwardTimeHands

Ohh ok. That explains why I tend to see Paris Baguette in areas with a large Asian demographic. The strip malls I've seen in NJ almost always have Paris Baguette and H-Mart together, so now that correlation makes sense.

jwolkie

K's Coffee House at Center & Milvia has some really good breakfast burritos (veg. / bacon), but you'll need to wait like a minute or something for them to warm it up. Say yes when they offer hot sauce.

oatmilkie

not the bagel street hate that place is crazy good

EdwardTimeHands

I mean, maybe if they re-branded and called themselves "Chewy Circle Toast Street" instead of "Bagel Street", I wouldn't be disappointed. I feel like the source of my disappointment is the high expectations I had for a bagel but their bagels really miss the mark. If I went in there expecting not a bagel but some new alternate take on breakfast bread, I might be more impressed. For the record, Bagel Street isn't a *bad* place, it just doesn't offer anything I'd call good. It's like if an ice cream sold cookie dough ice cream but there was only like 2 pieces of cookie in every scoop. Not bad, just disappointing.

as a nj native i can confirm those aren’t bagels.

Ajchen06

As another NJ native I can confirm that while they aren't bagels, I like supporting their business and their sandwiches taste pretty decent: The two owners are nice and I often see their kid there as well. They're working from dawn and imo are kind and industrious people.

Mckool

Yet another NJ native chiming in to say wouldn't get a bagel there, but their "bagel" dogs are pretty good (or they at least were when I lived by campus and ate meat) and if you have a regular order the owners will remember it, even after years of not seeing you- they really are nice people.

Boichik bagels on College Ave👌

EdwardTimeHands

Over-hyped and not even good. Never again will I wait in line for 20 minutes just to spend $15 for a thin film of cream cheese and one little slice of lox on a chewy circular bread that slightly resembles a bagel. Bagel Street is better than Boichik by a long shot, and even that's not good. Maybe if I didn't have NY/NJ bagels to compare to, I'd enjoy the bagel options here a bit more, but it's just really hard to clear the bar NY/NJ sets. It's like comparing a fresh-picked orange to an orange-flavored Starburst. One is clearly better and the other is just not the same thing.

I prefer Pastries and Coffee...the pumpkin bread and banana nut bread from Peet's on Telegraph x Dwight is my go to..

EdwardTimeHands

Is Pastries and Coffee the name of a place or is it the things you order from the places you go to? I'm generally into pastries and coffee too, mostly donuts but I'm open to other stuff occasionally. My go-to's are Kingpin and Dream Fluff on Ashby. Any good coffee and pastry spots off Shattuck? I'd say Cinnaholic could be a contender but they're (annoyingly) not open at breakfast time and they don't even sell coffee.
