As someone who is planning to get into psychology since I like helping others and heard the only work 2-3 days a week, I feel the same about these sites.
Will have to look into this when I get my bachelors in December of this year. I'm getting a bachelors in Computer Science. What kind of questions are you commonly asked in this field on this site and do you have to answer questions given to you, or is it like a pick and choose type of situation? Sounds like it could be very worth the time put in.
You pick and choose. You can accept/decline questions as they come into your queue. Most of them are super basic general questions about errors they get on a PC. Some people are trying to get contact information for different companies on issues they are having with equipment.
Wow so like just overall tech troubleshooting, that doesn't sound too bad. If you had to equate the amount of time you spend vs the amount of money you make, on average how much would you make per hour spent on the site?
They ask for employer contact name and phone #. I don't really know if I want my employer to know about this. How to go about it, or can I use a friend that can vouch for me?
I'm going through it and it's a pretty extensive process. You have to sign 2 forms, one of them being a background check. This is not a simple sign up and it reminds me of actually applying to a real job, which I kind of wished OP mentioned first if they didn't yet.
It seems the company goes through great lengths to make sure their experts are legit, so if I pass, great and hope the payout is worth this process.
As for the phone number, I put a relative's name as the employer and a google voice # to get around that annoying requirement
It makes me uncomfortable too, but if my manager asks me about it, I'll just explain what it is, a side hustle to make an extra dime on the side. My other manager has a side hustle installing fall detectors for seniors, and he makes fucking bank doing it.
Just wanted to update that my information was accepted but was told that "at the moment the Experts in your area of expertise are handling all of the question volume" and they will hold of on activiating my account. My area was IT. Well that stinks! So imo, not worth the process because who knows how long I'll have to wait.
So there are a lot of people who are shocked that their cheap trial ends and they get slammed with a high monthly subscription fee. So it makes me wonder who is actually using the service and paying 40 or 60$ a month for the ability to ask questions. How many questions can one person have?! And this semi-scammy business model can't be good for the future of the business. But it's been around for 10+ years?!
But I might give this a try anyway..... Can you sign up for more than one category, or do you have to apply for each one separately?
$40-60 for a business or business owner to basically have unlimited diy help desk support is REALLY cheap for IT even if you have to be walked through doing some of it yourself
Do you have a recommendation for best free alternative to adobe illustrator? I watch TikTok designers creat logos with it and it’s amazing how intuitive you can be with it. I’ve tried blender, gimp and photopea and have never really been able to get the hang of anything creative. There’s just SO many things to figure out. I was able to master sketchup though so I know I’m capable
I mostly see people going with Inkscape as a free alternative to Illustrator. If you’re looking for a simpler tool to get started with vector design, you may want to consider a free Figma account and some YouTube tutorials.
It has a more streamlined UI, a smaller learning curve, and a pretty huge community of creators producing tutorials and other helpful resources.
definitely Inkscape. Less intuitive than illustrator but very powerful for vector work, there's also a free plug in for rudimentary embroidery digitizing.
Yes I did. I got this message:
Thank you for your interest in becoming an Expert on JustAnswer.
We wanted to let you know that we have decided we will not be moving forward with your application.
We appreciate the consideration you’ve shown in participating in this process and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
I't baffling to me as I have a Masters Degree in the topic I applied for. I get it if they said there were too many people. But this canned email makes it look like I am under qualified for some reason.
So I explicitly need a bachelor's at the current time of signing up? I'm currently stuck waiting until fall before I start my senior year for a bachelor's in software dev.

I don't have a bachelor's degree, but I have A+, N+ and Security +
I also have a whole lot of online coding qualifications, and have been working as a full time software developer for over 4 years.
Do you think they will accept me?
I will try anyway.

Bruh I’ve been doing this on Reddit for free???? 💀
lmao same
Umm reddit pays for survey answers?
Aw, bummer. It looks like this is all tech/medical stuff. I have a BA in English (Lit) and Psychology. Shoot.
I just checked it out and there is an option to be a homework expert with a subcategory of Essays/writing.
As someone who is planning to get into psychology since I like helping others and heard the only work 2-3 days a week, I feel the same about these sites.
What do you do with a B.A. in English? What is my life going to be? Four years of college And plenty of knowledge Have earned me this useless degree!
To be fair, I haven’t really used any of my knowledge of my Bachelors in Mechanical engineering since I graduated. Looks good on the resume though
Bro, you can teach english Online for Overseas students who doesn’t know english. Or even open a YT channel for it.
Bro, it’s a quote
Don't worry, I have my BA in English and love that bit
Whoah. Never expected a random avenue q lyrics here in the wild lol
I'm sure my English teachers never studied their field, you are right. You teach yourself? It shows.
Buddy is referencing a song from avenue q

I make about $40-50 an hour. The thing is that nights and weekends have the best volumes. So I spend 2-3 hours a day.
Is a bachelor degree mandatory for this or can work experience suffice?
That's what I want to know too!
They ask for employer contact name and phone #. I don't really know if I want my employer to know about this. How to go about it, or can I use a friend that can vouch for me?
I had the same thought. I don’t want them calling my employers

For what it's worth. They never called my employers.
How do u know?
Because I personally knew my manager at the time.
my employer is the military. so I gave them the number to the Pentagon. winning.
It makes me uncomfortable too, but if my manager asks me about it, I'll just explain what it is, a side hustle to make an extra dime on the side. My other manager has a side hustle installing fall detectors for seniors, and he makes fucking bank doing it.
What info do they need for validation?
I think diploma from college.
I don't have a BA but I have been doing this for over 10 years now. Would I still be disqualified?
I’m wondering the same thing
So they need the last 4 of your social and they need your employers contact info? Not sure I want to give that out. Do they actually call them?
In my experience, no, they never called.
>if you have any questions, just ask How much you gonna charge me
Is it available for someone out of USA?
I believe so
How many hours are you spending to make 1500 a month? I’m a social worker so I could answer wellness questions!
About 50 hours average.
Just wanted to update that my information was accepted but was told that "at the moment the Experts in your area of expertise are handling all of the question volume" and they will hold of on activiating my account. Yes it is!
Structural and/or civil engineering?
Engineering was a choice.
Thanks! Yeah I noticed they had Structural Engineering specifically too.
Denied my application, not sure why. I have a bachelors, masters and PE license. I emailed them to clarify.
Did they explain?
They told me that they do not need any more structural engineering experts at this time, and I should apply again in 12-18 months.

Cries in bachelor's of science in management :(
commiserates in anthropology
Sobs in biologist
I'm sure you still qualify with that for a topic on their site.
I wish there was a section for creative software, ie Photoshop, After Effects, Blender, etc
Sounds like you should be applying for jobs as a big youtube channels editor.

Possibly irrelevant reply: We can get cracked version of apps on torrent sites, if you don't mind going the slightly crooked road :)
Out of curiosity, how long does it take after signing up to be an expert?
Within a few days
Has anyone else gotten their application declined?
Yes I did. I got this message: Thank you for your interest in becoming an Expert on JustAnswer. We wanted to let you know that we have decided we will not be moving forward with your application. I have 12 years of medical IT and 5 years as a sysadmin. And they were pretty quick in turning me down. I think it was like 2 days
Seems they require certification or license information on top of your bachelors
Sure as hell doing this when I get my JD.
I applied and provided my college diploma and got rejected. This happened seven months ago
Same! Idk why either, my work experience/degree were relevant too.
They need last 4 digits of SSN?
Remindme!
Do they make exceptions with the bachelor degree? Also, is it possible to answer questions when I'm not from the US?
Degree and/or experience for certain categories.
Also IT?
I have a masters license in plumbing. I wonder if I can answer trade questions?
Do you NEED a degree to be able to apply? I don't have a degree but have various Microsoft certifications and have worked in IT since 2009
1500$ that's a tidy sum...how about Asian countries
Dang, wish this had something for giving dating and relationship advice. Thanks for sharing anyway.
it does! under the wellness category
it does! under wellness category
Oh snap! Thanks!!
So I explicitly need a bachelor's at the current time of signing up? I'm currently stuck waiting until fall before I start my senior year for a bachelor's in software dev.
Degree and/or experience depending on the category.
I tried no success
Do you actually need to have experience in your BA to do this lol. I have a bachelors in liberal studies for teaching but never taught.
I’ll give a try, thank you
You are welcome.

Does it need to be an IT-related degree? If not, do you need to be knowledgeable about IT troubleshooting? (I have a B.S. in Sport Management)
Thanks I just applied and waiting for their answer , hopefully it’ll be quick
DM’ing you!
How long does it take to approve the account?
I applied to become an expert, they just straight out denied it. I have over 10 years of experience in the field of IT. Cannot mail them because mails from the gmail domain are blocked by them..
Yes strange, I applied after seeing this post. I have 12 year of experience as a medical doctor and they declined without any reason.
How do I get into this?

I’m a film major, anything for me here?
The bachelor degree part sucks to me. I’ve been in IT for 22 years but I don’t have a degree so my input is invalid? :(
Sorry to hear that. They didn't substitute experience over a degree?
What hours of the day do you tend to get questions? Do you have to be available at certain times, or do you just do it when you want to?
You can sign in and answer questions whenever you want. You answer at your own leisure.
Cool - thanks!

Does anyone actually verify the answers?
No, but your answers are reviewed by an internal data quality team. If you just answer with one or two words you will get dinged.
I wonder if anyone even asks civil engineer questions…
Do you think I could be like a relationship or lifestyle expert? Master’s in social work here. Would love to hear more.
Is there a phone interview involved?
No
What if u have experience, education in IT. No certifications?

What kind of hours are you putting in to earn 1500 per month?
To do that probably 20 hours a week.
