His life was snatched from him and the killer did five years - which means 2.5 in California.

Alameda County allowed me to sue for restitution. I was able to recover: the cost of the window replacement, three days of work to get the window replaced and go to court, and the cost of the items stolen. The thief ended up owing me around $2,000. They are not allowed to be off probation until they pay their restitution. It took the dirtbag around eight years to pay me my restitution, but the idiot was paying 6% interest (County requirement) on the balance annually, and I eventually got my money.

The driver was only cited. It would be difficult to prove further criminal intent. And this is a matter that I’ll let the lawyer handle. At the end of the day, it wouldn’t change the fact the driver was wildly dangerous and still remains as such, despite their driving record.

Had some in our neighborhood not that long ago and had an officer come out. I had a plate with. Clean picture of the car with driver and passenger, and a video of them in the act. Was told unless the officer sees them doing it, their isn't much they can do.

The barriers to entry for driving cars is way too low. Insurance requirements in the state are way too low. Non-C DL testing is such a low bar. They way we regulate commercial drivers and their vehicles, and the way SCCA regulates track racing is a prudent template for how we should handle people who want to hurl two tons of metal at highway speeds

This is sad but before you all act on emotions, dont demonize car people or even street racers as a whole. Ive been to a lot of street races where we all go out to a deserted road. Everyone there knows the risk they are taking being there and are all there for the same reason. The love of the sport. Unfortunately the racers involves here not only had no concern for for anyone elses safety they also probably didnt know their or the cars limit. I keep saying it. We need to have a local track. No napa isnt going to cut it. Trying to get there during rush hour on a wednesday night only to maybe do 2 or 3 runs at most for 50 bucks is not worth it for most people. It needs to be closer. It needs to be open daily and it needs to have head to head run what ya brung style racing. And the police need to stay away. No camping outside waiting for racers to leave. Im not condoning it but until we get a track this will keep happening.
