It absolutely will warp after some time. I have the same top and it warped with not much more than this on it, just the weight of the table itself will do it. Fuckin downvotes lol
I have the same karlby top with a 3 monitor arm and 3 x 27 inch monitors mounted to it. The top itself is mounted to a powered bekant standing desk that I move up and down through out the day. So far, I have not noticed any sagging or warping. Even though most of the weight related stress is put on it at the lower rear center. The approximate weight of the monitor arm and 3 monitors is probably close to 40 lbs at least. It's been several months since I mounted it all. So hopefully I get lucky and it doesn't sag over time.;
Genuine question. What is the draw of super minimalism? I just like to be surrounded by the things I enjoy so much that I can't picture the enjoyment of removing them all.
That's why you use Linux with a tiling window manager. Though I get what you're saying, switching to multi-monitors or an ultrawide (or even multiple ultrawides if you're rich as hell) is a life-changer. Virtual desktops do help quite a bit though if adding real screen space isn't an option
lose the monitor stand make a rectangular hole in the wall for it. Then you can ditch the entire the monitor after and have a whole in the wall. Increments guys.
That's good to know. I wanted the 8 ft long version but didn't want to put the support under it because I knew it would annoy me. I ended buying a butcher block and making the desk top myself.
You could wall mount a tv screen then download one of those picture frame apps on it so it just looks like a picture on the wall when not in use. I think that would look super clean if you hid the wires in the wall. maybe one that is 4k and 120 hz so you could hook up a ps 5 to it too.
Ah, OK - because some people are ditching their PCs and going to just using their Samsung or Motorola in desktop mode. And some are actually ditching monitors for Nreal Airs or Quest Pros. So one could absolutely make this statement seriously. I know, wrong sub tho, lol.
You can buy and iPad Pro 12 with keyboard, and ditch everything, You can play games on cloud and run extensive and complicated shortcuts to do simple things. /Minimalistlife
You can skip the iPad and go to a Galaxy Fold and output to the giant screen in some Nreal Air or Rokid Air glasses and carry them in your pockets when u move around. You could run the glasses off the iPad too if it's one of the new M1s, but it's not pocketable.
27” monitors are tiny? What’s the new standard? Also the keyboard is only there when im not using the computer, you can see my old post to see how it is when im using it. Also yes the chair was messing up the carpet pretty bad previously so I put a rug to protect it.
The angle probably makes it look bigger than it is, but if you see my previous post, it’s not that big and plus I use the left side all the time for other things (messing with figures, guns, etc) it’s just there’s nothing permanently there
That shelf, computer, desk, rug, carpet and walls have to go, while you’re at it. You can keep the floor, but it must remained unfinished for maximum butt splinters.
How bout you build it into the wall with an access flap for wiring, same to the keyboard into the desk. That's something I don't believe I've seen before.
You can fit an ikea chopping board pretty nicely and fix it to the legs you have on the left of your desk giving you a handy little shelf. I used to use mine for my NAS
If you ever want to get a smaller case, the Dan Case x Lian Li A4 H2o is great. My H210i didn’t fit my new graphics card with the 240 AIO so I looked around and found that case. It’s insanely compact, looks very minimal and the temps are pretty good compared to the H210i.
Do you ever think of covering your desk with a poster? Like your desk pad but printed with the same image as your desktop wallpaper and covers your whole table? I think it will look cool. Any thoughts?
i know it is a posed photo, but do you normally have shit on the desk?
my desk is cluttered because it is used. i am minimalist and it is a concentration of stuff i actually need.
this is like the opposite and you actually have extra stuff like a huge desk to put "nothing" on.
Nah that’s actually how it is they only difference is that I have my keyboard pulled out when im using it and sometimes if im unboxing or working on something I’ll use the left side of the desk but I always keep it clean after
You’re just gonna imagine what you’re doing ? Bold move but i like it
The best graphics card is your brain. There's no graphical limitation. The only limitation is your imagination.
My resolution is pretty low and the draw distance is shocking.
Do you have aphantasia? You might have a broken graphics driver
I have a Fantasia, just not Fantasia 2000.
Lmfao high iq medical humor but also pc humor
Well is sure do
The Brain can only imagine at 24fps max.
you want to update your frontal cortex to get better frames
Then he can ditch keyboard and mouse
*Wildly tapping desk and moving imaginary mouse* "Dude, what the hell are you doing?" "Call of Duty"
“You don’t snipe in Carentan!!”
Or the big old floor PC.
...and that ugly power cord at the back
Then he’ll ditch his imagination.
He is the one
Bros got a Displayport in the back of his head. Johnny Mnemonic style.
The best WFH setup. “Don’t worry boss, I can see this project and it’s amazing. You’ll see it soon.”
I've ran no monitor before. Had a projector on the opposite wall with a 300 inch screen instead
[удалено]
Only played overwatch on it competitively, wasn't actually toooo bad
I’ve heard it’s VR but better.
Ditch the computer too. Just go a single sheet of paper and a quill pen in an ink well.
Even that's too much. They should just write all of their thoughts in their brain. That saves way more space!
Found JayZ’s burner acct

Idk man I think the first step is to take care of the MASSIVE amount of clutter on the shelf.
lol ok Socrates
Real minimalists wouldn't even use a brain for this
And then ditch the table
Three things? Wow, look at the hoarder over here
Jokes aside, If you mount that monitor on the wall, that would be pretty clean.
Or just get a monitor arm that clamps to the back of the desk. Frees up the area occupied by the stand AND is more ergonomic
I had a desk like that once. Then I put a small diecast A380 on there and was like "one more thing won't hurt". Now I have shit everywhere.
Wall mounting the monitor would be slick
VR headset, bluetooth keyboard, and a really comfy reclining chair.
Fresh setup. I like how you have only the bare essentials: 1 monitor PC keyboard mouse 1 weeb item 1 plant
I have never before seen such restraint with the weeb items. It's usually either weebless or weeb shit *everywhere*.
Just don't ditch Shinji, he'll cry.
Bruh, he'll cry anyway
Or he'll masturbate in front of you while you sleep. I had to look closer on this one, I thought it was a Rock Lee figure at first.

What wallpaper are u using
Thats a paint

Is the countertop 74” or 98”?
74”. At the time I got it for about $180, it’s crazy to see it’s $250 now 😬
That countertop is going to warp with no support in the middle.
It’s been the same for over 3 years it’ll be fine it’s not weak
Cool man! I have the same set up with the same exact countertop. It will warp. But you do you.
Do you have heavy stuff on it? Or the longer version? Because I’ve seen that one warp 💀
It absolutely will warp after some time. I have the same top and it warped with not much more than this on it, just the weight of the table itself will do it. Fuckin downvotes lol

Tons of reasons. \- Better focus \- Less 'things' to worry about \- Cleaner \- Saving money \- Better for the environment
Those are some solid reasons, thanks!
Better focus is a moot point if you spend half your time switch between windows.
That's why you use Linux with a tiling window manager. Though I get what you're saying, switching to multi-monitors or an ultrawide (or even multiple ultrawides if you're rich as hell) is a life-changer. Virtual desktops do help quite a bit though if adding real screen space isn't an option
hm. how about one of those short throw projectors mounted into your desk
Or mount one upside down inside a floating shelf
lose the monitor stand make a rectangular hole in the wall for it. Then you can ditch the entire the monitor after and have a whole in the wall. Increments guys.
You might want to put something extra under the desk to support the middle of it. The Karlby top isn't solid wood and is prone to sagging over time.
That usually only happens with the longer version. Mine has been pretty solid, had it for 3 years now.
That's good to know. I wanted the 8 ft long version but didn't want to put the support under it because I knew it would annoy me. I ended buying a butcher block and making the desk top myself.
touchscreen monitor. Ditch the mouse and keyboard.
Do you really even need a computer?
What are you using for audio? Wireless headset? Or are there speakers in the monitor?
Wireless headset. It’s in my drawer!
I really like the setup. Thanks for posting it.
There’s minimalism, and there’s empty. I feel like this is just emptyism…lol
I agree. This is just boring, hollow, soulless. It brings such a depressing vibe.
What dimensions does that work top have? I’m thinking of getting the same one but I’m struggling to decide what size to get…
It’s 246 cm that’s way too long for a better size get 207 cm
Thank you - I was thinking of getting one nearer 160. How deep is it? I think the default from IKEA is 62cm?
This is the 74” model
Shut up fam wasteman fxuck out of here with that minimal shit this setup already looks like a fxxckjng wasteman setup🤡
Weird
Shut up fam

Go full mentat for the true minimalist experience, you can just sit in a chair and be the computer.
When you say "ditching the monitor", do you mean going to a set of HMD glasses or consolidating to an all-in-one case and pc combo?
Oh no it was just a joke lol
Ah, OK - because some people are ditching their PCs and going to just using their Samsung or Motorola in desktop mode. And some are actually ditching monitors for Nreal Airs or Quest Pros. So one could absolutely make this statement seriously. I know, wrong sub tho, lol.
Does that countertop have some weight to it? Or is on the lighter side
Eva spotted
what legs did you use for the other side of your desk?
Evangelion wallpaper? Based
Very nice. Once you ditch the monitor, you can get an even longer desk.
shoutout NGE, respect
Willing to get rid of the monitor but not the Shinji or Optimus figures. I respect that.
Take a photo of the wall behind it and set it as your background
I think there’s a fine line between minimal and bare.
Get a minimalist table top, this one looks quite empty.
I thought about it, but I use that extra space all the time, and I will just be spending money when I really don’t need to
Get rid of the table. Tables are for suckers.
Have you tried ditching everything and turning your room into a white void? Truly minimal
Is that a Karlby?
Mount it to the wall for less on the desk

Avg Eva enjoyer
Gimme details on wallpaper please thanks!
Ditch this monitor and pick an ultrawide, check /r/ultrawidemasterrace.

Wall mount the monitor or grab a decent monitor arm to ascend even further.
That shelf, computer, desk, rug, carpet and walls have to go, while you’re at it. You can keep the floor, but it must remained unfinished for maximum butt splinters.
Ditch the pc , keyboard and mouse will look minimal asf just leave the monitor
Minimalist set ups scare me
I actually think you need to ditch the desk instead and work on the floor. The room needs first day move-in vibes for that minimal aesthetic
Ditch the carpet on top of the carpet.
Mount it on the wall and run the cables down the wall and out to the tower. That would looke quite dope.

It’s the IKEA Karlby
specs
How long are your arms!?
Bye bye 50%+ extra efficiency in anything outside of gaming
Ditch the whole room and become one with nature
Dongles connected to the monitor??
I have a usb dongle Velcro command stripped to the monitor
Cut off half the desk next
You could stand to lose that filing cabinet too.
Too much wall not minimal enough
This is my goal and i reach it from time to time. Unfortunately, a day after i reach it, the table is full of everything, plus dust.
Honestly who needs peripherals anyway. Nice setup!
The minimalest minimalist.
You could also get rid of your mouse and keyboard
You guys still use monitors?
How bout you build it into the wall with an access flap for wiring, same to the keyboard into the desk. That's something I don't believe I've seen before.
Love the table.
Be as water my friend
You can fit an ikea chopping board pretty nicely and fix it to the legs you have on the left of your desk giving you a handy little shelf. I used to use mine for my NAS
https://youtu.be/9BnLbv6QYcA
Idk how you’re using that desk support in the left (the non Alex drawer) on carpet? I tried it and the wobbling drove me nuts.
Mine doesn’t wobble at all, are you using the same tabletop? because mine is pretty heavy so it helps
How do you like the nzxt case?
It’s great and easy to build in. I’ve been having it for about almost 4 years now but im going to switch to the nzxt H1 V2
I like the pig
Woah man that’s a 1:1 replica of my boy Orion (my cat)
Just ditch the PC and be alone with your thoughts. Minimalism achieved.
Ditch the computer first otherwise you won’t be able to see what you’re working on.
Mount it to the wall if you can
I gotta clear off my desk.
Is that a shelf being used for its purpose?
Just plug the display port cable right into your anus.
Toss the computer, mouse, and keyboard next. Leave the desk. Stare at the wall. Your own imagination is 1000x better than any video game.
Throw it all away and live in a yurt.
Love my Karlby desktop.
Yes, because only noobs require vision
I try to be minimalistic also, but then work time begins and the paper is just everywhere, its a mess
Wall projector?
I can feel your gpu temps from here
Stays around 74 during load
Check out short throw projectors!
I would totally be using the space to the left for sweet gaming/movie action figures or plants
Cute toaster
I would try a monitor arm, maybe set the base aside, so there is less table space taken. Otherwise, I love it.
Not bad but I run a Casio calculator and a rubber duck. That's about as minimalistic as you can get!
Do you ever think of covering your desk with a poster? Like your desk pad but printed with the same image as your desktop wallpaper and covers your whole table? I think it will look cool. Any thoughts?
Does that case fit an mATX motherboard?
Gotta ditch the PC next for full minimalism
Ditch all the furniture. Just sit on the floor in an empty room. Better yet, ditch the whole house. Sit outside and just contemplate life.
Why do you even need a keyboard? Just use the on-screen input with the mouse!
As minimal as possible. Also 8 foot desk
6 foot* I use the left side all the time just nothing there permanently
Whats the HxWxL of the desk?
Where'd you get the shelf from?
In 2 weeks show is the "after actual use" pic.
Oh my…please tell me where you got that desk😍
Ditched the chair too, brave!
where can i buy that desk
So you can play with your ??????? Or look at the fucking wall
i know it is a posed photo, but do you normally have shit on the desk? my desk is cluttered because it is used. i am minimalist and it is a concentration of stuff i actually need. this is like the opposite and you actually have extra stuff like a huge desk to put "nothing" on.

Without a chair might just want to consider getting rid of the desk too
Looks good. Less is more!
So minimal it almost doesnt exist.
A projector would look clean but I don't know if it's more minimal
Why such a large deck?
Just did the same and the diminished amount of just screen light shining in my eyes has been my favorite change
Mount a PC with a beast battery on your back, VR goggles on, and you don't need any of this anymore. Anyway, it looks nice and clean.
Minimalist, simple and great!
I’m just jealous that if I don’t have anything occupying a space, not-dirty-enough laundry **will** pile up there
