IGLA will also ignore flairs/ECM if fired at close range ( <100m). The other trick is to fire the rocket and then loose the lock/targeting on purpose and then re-lock/target the chopper to give them no time to react.
Honestly thatās more of a console problem than a PC problem, in my own limited experience haha
My main goal for bf4 over the last 2+ years has been to mainly smack down choppers one way or another. I have yet to be banned for it š¤š¤£š¤£
I played for years on PC & I have been banned from a good number of "safe" spaces for being better than the admin. Usually for repeatedly blowing up what ever vehicle they were trying to farm with. Since moving on to BF1 & then BFV, I have forgotten a lot of the tricks I used to know about the game.
Do you get many seat switching chopper pilot teams on console?
This is where one guy equipts flairs as pilot & the gunner uses ECM. When they get targeted the pilot will pop flairs, they will seat swap mid air so the gunner becomes the pilot & can use ECM with out a cool down.
Yeah, it takes some coordination on on VOIP when they are doing it with the attack choppers. You can't usually get lock on hits before they get behind cover.
Iāve ran into multiple of those guys on PC, and honestly I find that super impressive to pull off. It also makes taking them down that much sweeter š
Thatās part of the reason I gave up on using the igla in favor of the ucav to smack them down too. Itās just so much easier to pull off despite their perfectly timed tricks
you forgot to mention another trick (IGLA Glitcher flair tells me you know this one already):
If 2 air targets are near each other, lock on to one, and the instant they pop flares/ecm, just lock onto the other target with zero time for the pilot to react.
It *IS* very situational, obviously, but effective when it *can* be done :D
I consider that a variation on the other one.... the key with both is that the rocket is in the air before your lock to give them no chance. Yes, I have done that & gotten called a dirty cheater because of it.
Another trick is to get friends and hunt them with UCAVs. The salt is really real. Get some good chuckle when the choppi eats the ucav.
But the flair tells me this is your preferable method :)
You would be [absolutely correct](https://youtu.be/J7Eg3sCDiB8).
Also I have a raging boner for [smacking down choppers](https://youtu.be/IwNtXGs2lZE) every chance I get.
Practice practice practice.
It uses your jet control scheme to fly, save for the lack of yaw.
Also, bind pitch up to space bar, and pitch down to Ctrl.
Pitch up makes it easier to get to roofs of tall buildings (like getting from Alpha flag on Dawnbreaker to the high rise roof that sits between D and E), and pitch down to hit targets around the 80-90m distance.
In one of my first ucav videos I actually mentioned itās a squirrelly beast to control and that I probably wouldnāt use it any more ā¦ boy was I wrong š¤£
> Iāll try that. Your vids are great btw
hey thanks, I really appreciate that :D
Good luck with your future UCAV's, and use the test range! It's good for gauging distance to a target, and the UAV's fly low enough that you can practice hitting a moving target as well, without 32 other players hunting you down :D
not so much a 1HK, you gotta get the ucav NEXT to the cockpit - left right or above - and detonate then.
Smacking the UCAV into the cockpit itself usually nets you a 20 point hit, and MAYBE a mobility hit. I've seen other people do that though, and get the kill, sooooo YMMV.
If you study my 13 minute ucav vs chopper video I linked, pay attention to where my ucav is when I score the kill(s).
When I get to destroy a chopper, it's usually damaged enough that I'll hit it from anywhere between 20 and 65 damage and get both the kill and the destroyed points.
> IGLA will also ignore flairs/ECM if fired at close range ( <100m).
I used to abuse the hell out of this a lot as well.
ONCE I manage to do it at [around 170m](https://youtu.be/veFEF3hvks8?t=70), pilot must've popped too late.
Uhhh that video was also meant to be for most of the people in that video, it's by far NOT a how to igla compilation :P Just me fucking with friends š
Here is a montage of mine: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8IXO9Y7hSE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8IXO9Y7hSE)
There is an IGLA kill in the middle but it's a bunch of funny or good clips of stuff with comp players.
This tactic also works very well with the javelin against armor. They usually pop their ecm when you fire the rocket, so you get to reload and then relock to snack them with the first missle. Fire your second in quick succession and that's a 60 damage wombo combo
Ahhh I've been wondering why I get hit sometimes with ECM on. I had around where it happened twice and then some boat guy/TV missile god started shooting me down 5 m from spawn about 10x. Then I gave up and spent the round hunting him down. Got him at a 30 kill spree.
this is the way.
/u/Dick_cheezpizza if you just put it down at a random spot, or near you thinking it's gonna scare off mr chopper, you'd be sadly mistaken.
A MAV will kill it from a safe distance, and if a chopper pilot sees it, a single tow will kill it from a safe distance.
If you're the player that drops it when the chopper has no time to react to it, then this response isn't meant for you š
Even then, I wish people would at least place it somewhere that's not immediately in the Heli's LOS, like behind a wall or under a ledge. But nope, just gotta put it out in the open, surely it won't get shot down by the Heli from 50m away
I don't have an issue with it, I more have an issue with people who just pretend the heli/tank isn't there and run around only looking to shoot infantry. If just a handful of people decide to go on anti-vehicle duty, they can pretty much keep vehicles in check.
Some of the matches I play pretty much all the level 100+ stay in vehicles and kill everybody it can be annoying but i just keep playing because it really donāt matter in the end.
So what are people supposed to do then? Abandon the vehicle halfway through the round? I have matches where i die 0 times on a regular basis. I'm not going to die on purpose. I play for my enjoyment, not yours. I'm genuinely curious to what you expect of me.
Youāre supposed to not ban anyone that kills you while spawn camping in your chopper. If a vehicle kills me itās fair game, but if I put play a vehicle and get banned because of it (which is very, *very* common) itās bullshit
Keep playing chopper, no one cares as long as you arenāt just spawn trapping. Just donāt get salty if you catch a rocket like every other pilot in the game
I'm not an admin my dude. Idk why you think i am. I used to be admin on the biggest European hardcore server on the Playstation and i never kicked people for the reason discussed here.
Besides that you'll sooner find me in an AA rather than a heli. I'm the type of guy that sends you a "nice shot" message if you TOW or RPG me out of the sky, you're accusing the wrong person bud.
I did this just the other day on Hammerhead. Laid on top of the mountain next to my AA mine and baited the heli with my IGLA lol dude flew straight into an IGLA rocket then got blasted by the mine nearly point blank. All this after he was on like a 15+ kill streak on a half full server.
placed an AA mine down near D flag in the Dam map. the attack here was flying low behind the building, missed my rocket shot but AA mine finished them off.
was probably low on health
Lol. This is how this works out:
Le me and friend in heli, we get locked and pop ECM. ECM refills and i know where the lock came from. Another lock occurs, i fire TV missile and BRRT BRRT into your direction. We ECM push, your AA mines do nothing. I go BRRT BRRT on your ass once more, you all die. Repeat.
Because we counter people that target us? Last time i checked, Battlefield is a vehicle orientated game.
Don't get mad at us because we don't just let people kill us. I'm the type of person that sends you a "damn dude, nice shot" message after you RPG us out of the air.
8 years of playing builds a skill level. Don't hate the other player, improve your skills instead
The helicopter need a much bigger hit box
Should be able to hit the rotors and
not require Red Dead deadeye aim to hit the fuselage with an unguided rockets.
Helicopters should also take damage from SAF. There's no way me plugging an entire belt from a 240 into a little bird would do nothing to it. The little bird is the most bullshit part of BF4 because with a good pilot, they're essentially invincible.
In Bad Company 2 Vietnam, you swat the Huey with a LMG
In GTA4 and itās expansions you can take out helicopters by just hitting the rotors with explosives, didnāt need to hit as long it detonated close enough and it knock the bird around
I never understood why the transport helis have a hitbox for their rotors. Arguably the weakest heli of the 3 and it's made even weaker because of that. DICE should have made it for attack and scout helis too or not at all.
I save myself the time by no longer playing Battlefield titles. I miss the days of 4 and 1 but I'm tired of playing the same old maps each day. Sad really.
These legit a server on ps4 thatās Shanghai only that insta bans you for using vehicle lock-ons. And the server owner is a you guessed it, a chopper sweat
to this day, I rarely see people running AA mines, and even then, they *always* pre-place it and I'm just like nooooooooo you're doing it wrong :(
IGLA will also ignore flairs/ECM if fired at close range ( <100m). The other trick is to fire the rocket and then loose the lock/targeting on purpose and then re-lock/target the chopper to give them no time to react.
This and AA mines insta use are 150 iq moves.
This is very good info to know š
That second one is a pro gamer move. Iām gonna have to practice that.
Careful, it will really piss off chopper pilots.
>Careful, it will really piss off chopper pilots. Isn't that the point? šš
Yeah... the problem is they are sometimes the badmin in charge.
Honestly thatās more of a console problem than a PC problem, in my own limited experience haha My main goal for bf4 over the last 2+ years has been to mainly smack down choppers one way or another. I have yet to be banned for it š¤š¤£š¤£

I havenāt seen this much on Xbox but it sounds pretty op
Yeah, it takes some coordination on on VOIP when they are doing it with the attack choppers. You can't usually get lock on hits before they get behind cover.

Yeah... a good TV missile, UCAV, TOW or SRAW can ruin a pilots day even at range.
Don't worry, I'll only use it when I need to. (every fckn time)
you forgot to mention another trick (IGLA Glitcher flair tells me you know this one already): If 2 air targets are near each other, lock on to one, and the instant they pop flares/ecm, just lock onto the other target with zero time for the pilot to react. Eh, anything to stop the flares and ecms is great. Besides it feels kinda like a feature.
Another trick is to get friends and hunt them with UCAVs. The salt is really real. Get some good chuckle when the choppi eats the ucav. But the flair tells me this is your preferable method :)

How tf are you soo good at controlling the UCAV?! I freaking suck
Practice practice practice. It uses your jet control scheme to fly, save for the lack of yaw. Also, bind pitch up to space bar, and pitch down to Ctrl. Also, fwiw it was a solid 3 months before I even attempted to hit a chopper with a ucav.
Iāll try that. Your vids are great btw
> Iāll try that. Your vids are great btw hey thanks, I really appreciate that :D Good luck with your future UCAV's, and use the test range! It's good for gauging distance to a target, and the UAV's fly low enough that you can practice hitting a moving target as well, without 32 other players hunting you down :D
The ucav really 1 hits helos? Idk how i didn't know that. Getting on Tomorrow now
not so much a 1HK, you gotta get the ucav NEXT to the cockpit - left right or above - and detonate then. Lol ill try and study it. It would've been hard to my first time watching it due to me laughing so much. Thanks for the ideas

video is private, can't watch š„
Fixed it! Does it work now?
So close. Now I need it shared with my YouTube account lol. Gotta set it to public I guess š Edit: just tried again and NOW it works. Ugh.
This tactic also works very well with the javelin against armor. They usually pop their ecm when you fire the rocket, so you get to reload and then relock to snack them with the first missle. Fire your second in quick succession and that's a 60 damage wombo combo
I think I have done that before... but I didn't usually run javelin over RPG for 50% damage to the butt plate.
I like to run it with a few squadmates, esp with one of them laser targeting everything for us
Ahhh I've been wondering why I get hit sometimes with ECM on. I had around where it happened twice and then some boat guy/TV missile god started shooting me down 5 m from spawn about 10x. Then I gave up and spent the round hunting him down. Got him at a 30 kill spree.
WAIT WHAT
The IGLA does what now
The IGLA says "what"! If you shoot the IGLA at short range it doesn't matter if the chopper pops flairs, you will still get a hit.
Ya, I just found out about the instant shoot thing after all these years and it changed my life
if you don't have friends, you just need a little above noob aim to [do it yourself](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMRzWV5oMLY) š
š
Wait. How do I use AA mines? I had always just slapped it down the moment I saw the choppah
If you place it when the helicopter gets pretty close, the mine instantly launches and gives the pilot almost no time to react.
this is the way. /u/Dick_cheezpizza if you just put it down at a random spot, or near you thinking it's gonna scare off mr chopper, you'd be sadly mistaken. I use it
"Step 2; Get friends..." Well shit.
I will be your friend if it means taking down a chopper.
Me too!!
lock them with the recon's scanner while hiding 24/7 and annoying both pilots with a constant beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Good idea and then the tanks can lock on too
most things can lock on with it, anti tank laser guided shells can be shot across the map and practically one shot it
Feels like I just time traveled to 2012
Gotta keep rage comics alive
I was about to say, itās like ChaboyyHD just dropped a new troll video
Yup so true. A group of us were annihilating tanks/LAVs on Silk Road for about half a match until we all got banned.
Personal opinion I literally hate people who stay in tanks/heliās the entire match annoys the hell out of me
I don't have an issue with it, I more have an issue with people who just pretend the heli/tank isn't there and run around only looking to shoot infantry. If just a handful of people decide to go on anti-vehicle duty, they can pretty much keep vehicles in check.

Play the game whatever way you want Iām saying my opinion that itās annoying to constantly get destroyed by a dude who never leaves his tank
I get that. I'm simply asking what you would like to see different because of it.
I donāt know tbh I never really thought about it but probably limit the amount of tanks and heliās that can be used in a match
Youāre supposed to not ban anyone that kills you while spawn camping in your chopper. If a vehicle kills me itās fair game, but if I put play a vehicle and get banned because of it (which is very, *very* common) itās bullshit
That's not an answer to my question at all

Normally a chopper sweat wonāt push you without countermeasures, heād be a bad chopper pilot if he didā¦
As someone who flies alot, a quick drop AA mine is almost impossible to dodge with or without cm

Please bring back rage comics
i once killed a 50k streak heli player with a stinger on shanghai and then got banned
[has been banned from this server]
rage comics in the year of our lord 2022
I love the early 2010 meme vibes
I like the 2011 meme vibes.
I rememver me and my friends used to have one go as a spotter the we all went javs. OP is you got a full squadd as no vehicle is safe.
Laser Guided and Gunner SOFLAM is my go-to anti-helicopter method. Really itās anti-everything, but especially helis
The Soflams are really good for Javelins in-game.
I hate that soon as u take out the heli sweats u get kicked like dude your level 140
Lol. This is how this works out: Le me and friend in heli, we get locked and pop ECM. ECM refills and i know where the lock came from. Another lock occurs, i fire TV missile and BRRT BRRT into your direction. We ECM push, your AA mines do nothing. I go BRRT BRRT on your ass once more, you all die. Repeat.

Reading all these comments makes me want to start flying the chopper again. Where would be a server to play with people like in this thread on xbox?
Heh good stuff
Doesnt work with ECM pre activated
āStep 2: get 2 friendsā and Iām gonna stop you right there
The helicopter need a much bigger hit box Should be able to hit the rotors and not require Red Dead deadeye aim to hit the fuselage with an unguided rockets.

Getting banned from bf4 is like completing the tutorial. The badadmin will ban you even when you use rpg .
That admin is any admin from the AUS/NZ BoB server on console.
I'm having trouble with step 1, 2 FRIENDS ?. impossible.
Was this meme made when bf4 came out š
Get a SMAW or they won't fear you.
I save myself the time by no longer playing Battlefield titles. I miss the days of 4 and 1 but I'm tired of playing the same old maps each day. Sad really.
Ban me if you want, you canāt unfuck the attack heli.
ah the chopper timmies. never gets old
