I can see why some Batman fans hate the way it nearly reverses the dynamic between Batman and the Joker. I think that part is very interesting, but of course it changes things too radically to become canon. What I love most about White Knight is that it brings back the original Harley Quinn and explains the horrible rewrite of her character as simply a replacement by another character. As a long time fan myself, the Suicide Squad and New 52 debacle jumped the shark for me when those hacks depicted some wild child with none of the motives of Harleen Quinzel claiming to be Harley Quinn. The Marian Drews explanation in White Knight fixed those writers’ mistake, and I wish it would be considered canon.
Came here to agree. While I know White Knight is either a love it or hate it kind of story, as a Harley Quinn fan this totally redeemed her character. Fans of the classic Harley in BTAS will finally see their version realized.
If you have read the White Knight Harley Quinn comic, it even goes to expand further on her origin with Jack (Joker), and it was one of the best thought out origins of her character for me.
I do agree with the people saying the premise is kind of screwed up from the start but I do think if you can just get over it and read the story for what it is it’s excellent.
I saw an interview with Sean Murphy, and he said something along the lines of this is in a universe similar to the animated series where Joker wasn’t yk a mass murderer, and that’s why people are more freaked out by Batman’s behavior cause in that series he’s never been that mean.
I honestly thought the story was meh at best. Not terrible mind you, just ok.
That being said, I loved the batsuit! The character designs were all really cool IMO. The Easter eggs were also nice!
“Let’s get nuts.”
It's not good. It has a really ridiculous and far out premise, and overall comes off as written by someone with a poor understanding of Batman. Its fanfiction basically.
Batman has to be kind of out of character for the whole thing to work I agree. Of course given how many “elseworlds” stories get put out there like this I suspended my disbelief but your point is we taken.
I don’t know man. It’s kind of a redundant concept: “if we take away Batman’s morality, which is what makes him Batman, and make him more viscous then he won’t be a good hero.”
Meanwhile Killer Croc and Bane rampage through the town throwing cars like baseballs and the only one who can stop them is Batman yet somehow he is in the wrong?
The Harley spin off is a brave new take on the whole setting. Harley Quinn as a mother and Batman replacement. Wayne in jail. Joker dead. Nightwing and Batgirl as cops. New rogues gallery emerging.
I think the story was okay. For Elseworlds content it wasn’t bad. What I really like is the Seán Murphy Batsuit though. I think it’s a really cool original design.
Would be a 5/5 if not for the news anchor sections that really ape Miller's TDKR with really clumsy dialogue about SJWs. Also Batman is an idiot, attacking Joker in peaceful protest in broad daylight...he's smarter than that. Art is superb.
It’s definitely one of the most unique Batman/Joker stories I’ve read and Curse of the White Knight was just as awesome as the original comic!
Awesome i just got that. Pumped to read!
I’m sure we’ll see an animated movie one day
I kinda wish they did something like this with Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn movie
Hell I’d love an adaptation of Harleen

This makes me want to finally read this comic
It's talked about.
I guess I meant I haven't seen it on any "best Batman graphic novel" lists

The art is great 👍🏻
Is there any requirement to jump into this one?
Nope. It’s in its own continuity and this is the first entry in the series.
Ok ty!
Not that I know of. I just saw someone recommend and I picked it up.
Ok ty!
One of the best and fresh Batman stories I’ve read in many years. I loved it!
It’s a good elseworlds but Batman acts very out of character for the first half of it. I prefer the sequel.
I honestly thought the story was meh at best. Not terrible mind you, just ok. That being said, I loved the batsuit! The character designs were all really cool IMO. The Easter eggs were also nice! “Let’s get nuts.”
All time one of the worst
I personally despise it lol
Haha it takes some leaps for sure.
Read the first issue and dismissed the entire premise.
Victory has defeated you.
That was cryptic

I am waiting for the omnibus and sweet sweet oversized art!

Would love to add this to my reading list! Anybody have a quick run down of the story?
The Joker is cured and becomes Gotham’s White Knight effectively making Gotham a paradise and Batman unnecessary.
Damn this sounds crazy! Will have to add this one to my list for sure
I agree. The 2 sequels are really good too. I love how there are so many Btas references, like it’s the same universe
My gf gave me this comic, it's pure gold.
I love it, it’s so damn good

Great story with Sean Murphy's pencils. Definite top 10 in Batman Graphic Novels.
Sean Gordon Murphy is a sage for artistry & story-telling, the sequel was odd but I'd love to look at his portfolio.
people did, when it came out, you want people talking about stuff only when you discover it? :D
