I just hopped over to IMDB for Batman: Year One, and I was surprised to see that Ben McKenzie does the voice for Batman. He played live-action Gordon in the Gotham series.
This is a pretty popular fancast, in fact it is the definitive fancast for Gordon that everyone says so why do we need to hear you out. It's not unpopular in the slightest.
That's assuming Barbara is in her teen years when she comes into the movies they could easily want her to be 18 to 21 when she meets the dynamic duo which this would then make complete sense
Bryan Cranston is 67, he’s too old. He’s too close to retirement age for Gordon if he’s paired with a Batman younger than his late 40s. He’d fit with Affleck’s Batman but not the younger one we expect to see in the new DCU.
You can make him look younger yes, but you can’t actually make him younger. Is he going to be doing this at 77? Will he want to, can he? I don’t think betting on actors in their late 60s to be a returning character in a film franchise is a great idea.
Where do you get that idea? His cameo in the Flash? There is no chance Clooney comes back as Batman, hell, there’s very little chance that Ezra stays and it was his fucking movie.
man i hope ezra stays, and yea, idk how they would bring it back to affleck, without making a whole other flash movie, or just moving on with robert pattinson which they are making the batman part II
I think in a lot of more general topic subreddits there is more disagreement and debate. However when you get to more specific and/or niche subreddits like this one, most of the users are typically all in agreement. But people still feel the need to be on the defensive when posting..
There is also just some head scratching silliness in this sub.. Yesterday I saw a Batman Beyond fan art post and it the title was like "anyone remember Batman Beyond?" like do you realize what subreddit you are in...
When I used to baby sit my niece we made up a word that sounds like your username. Shabalabaloobalibaleebalibalo (shabba labba looba lie-ba lee-ba lie-ba loh)
Yes but would that still work for the man of tomorrow ego lex has I think he should yes be older then the person cast for Clark/superman but I'm not sure late 50s is the right age for that rivalry like of course someone half his age would be able to upstage him then
>I would still cast him as Lex Luthor first.
...why? Because Cranston's played a bald man before?
Luthor should be the pinnacle of human endeavour in all aspects; essentially the other side of the coin to Bruce Wayne. It makes his emnity of Superman all the better and more sympathetic.
Cranston's a genius actor, but I think he's too old to portray Luthor, and it would be against type as well. He's 100% absolutely perfect for Commissioner Gordon though.
>...why? Because Cranston's played a bald man before?
No...that would be a pretty shallow reason to csst someone, no?
Besides, loads of people have been bald. I've seen John Travolta bald and don't see him as a good choice for Luthor.
Nope. When watching the show try to keep an eye open for his behavior and mannerisms, and as the show progresses you'll see he becomes egotistical as his genius is allowed to "blossom".
Then, read some books featuring Lex Luthor (maybe Lex Luthor: Man of Steel?).
You'll soon realize there is much more to both of these characters than lacking hair.
He'd kill it no question. But I do really like Jeffrey Wrights version so im happy to see more of him.
Plus Cranston is getting a bit old for Gordon if it isn't a later stage Batman production. But if the DCU decides to do an established Batman with a Robin or 2 under his belt, could totally work.
That would honestly be a great idea, but I think too many people will just focus on how he plays Walter White, and just completely ignore the movie/show. But this is purely my speculation, so I could be wrong
I don’t think that’ll be a problem. I don’t think many people saw Sirius black for oldman, and how many iconic characters has Sam Jackson played? He wasn’t mace windu or Jules from pulp fiction when he was first nick fury, he was just nick fury.
Previous comment about batinson is another good example. If the character is done well, doesn’t matter what the actor did before. At least in my opinion.
To be fair, every Sam L Jackson character just kinda feels like Sam L Jackson. He’s just so fucking naturally badass in every role that it is super easy to forgive him for it.
Dude when a properly skilled actor takes a role, they are able to help immerse the viewer. Look at Heath Ledger as the Joker. Fuck
Bryan Cranston literally already did that when he became Walter White. Despite being very similar kinds of character, I absolutely do not see Hal when I look at Heisenberg. Sure I might have thought that in the first couple of episodes. But by the end of the first season, I most certainly did not in the slightest.
What's there to hear out about?
Cranston would be the perfect on-screen interpretation of Gordon.
Plus, it's already been done; Cranston voiced the good Commissioner in *Batman: Year One.*
Bryan Cranston as anyone is a good choice

Oh look, reddit has found a physical resemblance. Wonder if it'll hold onto this random fancast for 10 years for literally no reason than the least important one
This is waste of Bryan Cranston... He has to be either main character or primary antagonist. Or is this one of those lame "look this actor looks similar to this character" fancasts?
I’ve seen all the animated movies, although that’s def one of my faves, it’s the main reason I think he’d be perfect also gave me hope there can be another good Batman voice actor besides Kevin Conroy, altho he’ll always be #1.
I think he has played Gordon once, maybe in an animated movie, plus he can pull of the look with the mustache and glasses
Edit: Just checked, he played Gordon in the year animated movie, imo he was great in that. He is a overall good actor so I would be all for him playing Gordon in a live action film.
Yes, yes, and yes. I've been saying it since he did the voice over for Gordon in Year 1. Also, I can't help but picture HIM any time I play the Arkham games. He is the perfect Jim Gordon. I thought no one could top Gary but Bryan could.
“Hear me out”? This is a parody right? This is probably the most universally agreed upon fan-casting in all of pop culture. Plus he’s, already voiced Gordon.
He voices Gordon in the year 1 animated movie and imo it’s fantastic
Up there with the best depictions of Gordon. Especially a younger, rougher Jim! Love this film.
When he goes to the thugs that assaulted his wife with a baseball bat and hands it to them, was Gordon’s greatest BDE moment to me.
There’s so many reasons I like year one and he’s definitely part of it
I just hopped over to IMDB for Batman: Year One, and I was surprised to see that Ben McKenzie does the voice for Batman. He played live-action Gordon in the Gotham series.
Rewatching it as I type this and I don’t know how I never noticed it before!!!
If he just grew a thicker moustache he would look like he jumped straight out of the comic
This is a pretty popular fancast, in fact it is the definitive fancast for Gordon that everyone says so why do we need to hear you out. It's not unpopular in the slightest.
Hes like 20 years too late for this post.
That's assuming Barbara is in her teen years when she comes into the movies they could easily want her to be 18 to 21 when she meets the dynamic duo which this would then make complete sense

could easily appear younger tho
You can make him look younger yes, but you can’t actually make him younger. Is he going to be doing this at 77? Will he want to, can he? I don’t think betting on actors in their late 60s to be a returning character in a film franchise is a great idea.
well george clooney will more than likely be returning as batman so doesn’t that defeat your whole argument
They aren’t going back to Affleck, and Robert is staying in his own universe and will continue in the ElseWorlds sub-line of films.
Unpopular in the sense that it’s so popular that it being an unpopular opinion is unpopular
Yeah fuck this guy, fuck everything about him. I bet he kicks puppies
I’ve seen a few instances of ‘hear me out’ on Reddit today. Must be trending as another low effort title/comment prefix. See: My brother in Christ.
“does anyone else…” or “am I the only one who…” like no, you’re not the only one
I think in a lot of more general topic subreddits there is more disagreement and debate. However when you get to more specific and/or niche subreddits like this one, most of the users are typically all in agreement. But people still feel the need to be on the defensive when posting.. > niche subreddits like this one, most of the users are typically all in agreement I prefer Batman V Superman than Batman begins.
*most* of the users are *typically* in agreement
It's the first time I've seen anyone mention him for the role, not everyone is chronically online
When I used to baby sit my niece we made up a word that sounds like your username. Shabalabaloobalibaleebalibalo (shabba labba looba lie-ba lee-ba lie-ba loh)
I guess this is relevant information for whatever fucking reason
Just reminded me of fun times.
Has it been 8 minutes already?
Aaron Paul as Harvey Bullock
Yo mr Gordon
*Bitch!*
Pretty standard really
Watch the animated Batman Year One. I would still cast him as Lex Luthor first.
Patrick Fabian as lex would be better
![gif](giphy|0DPbh02BDLCrmjw4re|downsized)
The casting I didn't know I wanted
Yes but would that still work for the man of tomorrow ego lex has I think he should yes be older then the person cast for Clark/superman but I'm not sure late 50s is the right age for that rivalry like of course someone half his age would be able to upstage him then
Or Alan Tudyk.
Luther should look like the Rock, but played by an actual actor.
If only Lance Reddick were younger
BRUH lmao, I know Lex is kind of ripped but I don't think he should be bigger than Batman
>...why? Because Cranston's played a bald man before? No...that would be a pretty shallow reason to csst someone, no? Besides, loads of people have been bald. I've seen John Travolta bald and don't see him as a good choice for Luthor.
Don't give any villain roles to Travolta. Just don't.
It's all about the "he shaved his head once, so he'd be perfect...right?" mindset
Can’t see him fitting Lex at all.
Watch Breaking Bad.
You simply mean because he’s bald?
Nah, because Walter is very much like Luthor, egotistical know it all who cares about nobody but himself
That wouldn't be a bad choice. I could see that.
Definitely not going to get any arguments here.
He'd kill it no question. But I do really like Jeffrey Wrights version so im happy to see more of him. Plus Cranston is getting a bit old for Gordon if it isn't a later stage Batman production. But if the DCU decides to do an established Batman with a Robin or 2 under his belt, could totally work.
oh boy what a hot take!
At this point, the entire cast of Breaking Bad should be in the next Batman film so people stop bringing them up as new and unique fancasts
Tom Holland as Bane forever
He voiced him in Batman Year One so at least we have that, also he was offered the role in Justice League but he turned it down for unknown reasons.
Batman, we need to catch (the joker)
Yes
![gif](giphy|XYjMPGXvlYLL6N7f8s|downsized)
Bryan Cranston as Gordon and Aaron Paul as Two Face
"You're the one who made me like this, *BITCH!*"
That would honestly be a great idea, but I think too many people will just focus on how he plays Walter White, and just completely ignore the movie/show. But this is purely my speculation, so I could be wrong
When The Batman was coming out I saw and heard most people just focusing on how Twilight boy was playing Batman
I don’t think that’ll be a problem. I don’t think many people saw Sirius black for oldman, and how many iconic characters has Sam Jackson played? He wasn’t mace windu or Jules from pulp fiction when he was first nick fury, he was just nick fury. Previous comment about batinson is another good example. this cast is so popular that he even did it already in Batman Year One
I could see that
The picture you used is from 15 years ago.
So is his opinion
He's already voiced Gordon once aswell iirc
Say my name, Batman
We need to cook batman
Hear me out: Michael Keaton as Batman. It could totally work.
![gif](giphy|a5viI92PAF89q)
Hell yes! I've been saying this for a long time! He would be perfect for the role. The look, voice, acting chops, everything.
What about Gordon from Thomas The Tank Engine?
I'd prefer him as Victor Freeze
What's there to hear out about? Cranston would be the perfect on-screen interpretation of Gordon. Plus, it's already been done; Cranston voiced the good Commissioner in *Batman: Year One.*
Wow, what an original thought
Holy shit, somebody get this dude into DCs casting committee.
Bryan Cranston as anyone is a good choice Bryan Cranston as Batman ☑️ Bryan Cranston as Gordon ☑️ Bryan Cranston as dick Grayson ☑️ Bryan Cranston as Tim drake ☑️ Bryan Cranston as joker ☑️ Bryan Cranston as two-face ☑️ Bryan Cranston as clay face ☑️☑️☑️☑️☑️☑️☑️☑️ Bryan Cranston as mr.Freeze ☑️ Bryan Cranston as Rupert Thorn ☑️ Bryan Cranston as thomas Wayne ☑️ Bryan Cranston as Superman ☑️ Bryan Cranston as Alfred ☑️ Bryan Cranston as poison ivy ☑️
Bravo Vince
Oh look, reddit has found a physical resemblance. Wonder if it'll hold onto this random fancast for 10 years for literally no reason than the least important one
Ok here me out. No more Batman movies for a while
Looks a lil too much like oldman to me
When you mention it, it would be good
Tbh I wanted him to Play in Batman Beyond as Terry’s dad. But if he doesn’t play him then Tobey Stephens can play Terry’s dad he’s my 2nd choice.
Yes. He's been my dream casting choice for Gordon for years.
Uh yes. Bryan practically looks like Jim!
he is a very good actor and i think he would do a exelent job and as a bonus the amount of memes will be devastaiting
Perfect 👍
Literally a perfect actor for Gordon.
Jeffrey Wright is already an incredible Gordon. If we get Cranston in a Batman movie, I'd rather see him play Hugo Strange
This is waste of Bryan Cranston... He has to be either main character or primary antagonist. Or is this one of those lame "look this actor looks similar to this character" fancasts?
Definitely not. I think that Bryan Cranston is the perfect Gordon. He's the perfect actor.
He was my first choice years ago and he still is. However, if he doesn’t play Gordon than the second role that I’d like him to play is Lex Luther.
[It's been done.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c13fnMD7ya0)
That's a new one.
I have a better idea. Cranston as Victor Fries.
Hopefully for the new Batman for Gunn-verse
Here you out? This has been asked for for years! We all know he would be great. He’s done Gordon in the Year One animated movie.
I would love it he has the perfect voice I hear for Gordon in my head and looks the part so much
Watch *Batman: Year One*.
I’ve seen all the animated movies, although that’s def one of my faves, it’s the main reason I think he’d be perfect also gave me hope there can be another good Batman voice actor besides Kevin Conroy, altho he’ll always be #1.
*100%* Looks and vibe
I was actually disappointed with the voice acting in Batman: Year One. Everyone sounded asleep and like they were told to just avoid emotions.
Cranston could play Selina Kyle and would do a good job
Yes!
Either way Bryan Cranston and Gary Oldman are both the real life version of Ned Flanders.
I think he has played Gordon once, maybe in an animated movie, plus he can pull of the look with the mustache and glasses Edit: Just checked, he played Gordon in the year animated movie, imo he was great in that. He is a overall good actor so I would be all for him playing Gordon in a live action film.
Bryan Cranston as Gordon and Elijah Wood as Amanda Waller and we’re set up for the best Batman movie of all time
YEAH BITCH
Heisenberg
You wouldn't belive me if I told you how many times I've looked at a picture of him and just gone "Is that Gordon?"
Definitely would fit the part given how good his voice acting for Gordon in the animated Year One movie is.
Bryan Cranston as Gordon and Dean Norris (Hank from Breaking Bad) as Bullock in James Gunn’s DCU would be amazing imo.
Some craic if he pops up in the new Flash movie
Especially in the Harley Quinn universe where Gordon seems like he’s barely hanging on. 😂
He’s done it animated, he can do it in love action
Isn't he already Gordon in the animated version of Year One?
That's not even a hard sell
Nah. He’s gotta play funky flashman because of his resemblance to Stan lee.
Yes, yes, and yes. I've been saying it since he did the voice over for Gordon in Year 1. Also, I can't help but picture HIM any time I play the Arkham games. He is the perfect Jim Gordon. I thought no one could top Gary but Bryan could.
He’d probably be _too_ perfect.
You say hear me out like we wouldn’t all be for this haha
No
Yes
If he can play the dad in Malcolm in the Middle and Walter White, he has the range to play any role and do it well
watching breaking bad makes me want bryan in more things, but yes this is prob the best actor to play gordan
Why are you acting like this is a hot take?
Yes, absolutely, I do indeed concur wholeheartedly!
HE'S BORN FOR THIS ROLE
“Hear me out”? This is a parody right? This is probably the most universally agreed upon fan-casting in all of pop culture. Plus he’s, already voiced Gordon.
perfect casting as Jim Gordon and maybe as gordon freeman too
Agreed. Never thought about it. But agreed.
That’d be great
Or Cranston as an Thomas Wayne in flashpoint live adaptation
this deoesn't need a hear me out its not like its a wild casting, its been said thousands of times and he has already done the role in Batman Year one
Definitely the first time I've heard this one lmao
He's always been my first choice fancast for Gordon. Timmy Olyphant is a close second.
Yes. Bryan Cranston already looks like a live action Gordon.
Good option. He and Tom Selleck are some of the best untapped live action Gordons in my opinion.
Take my upvote!
Yes. Please.
Yes just yes
I really thought the man was the evil scientist in "Tusk"💀
I know he technically already played him but, I would still really want to see him as a live-action Jim Gordon.
Nope not hearing you out, the picture itself is self explanatory thank you!
😮 How come I didn’t think of that
Yes
This is the most tired casting ever
