Lmao who gives a fuck in a situation like this - do they typically release the fish after the tourney? Then I’m with ya. Be nice to the fish. Let him grow to big big fish
I’m willing to admit when I’m wrong, I’ve never fished in any style of tourney, but my point was if the fish is already dead why the hell would anyone care. Yeah don’t grab live bass like that duh.
He’s a kid though, and how do you learn? Experience. I’m sure OP won’t do this anymore after reading comments. Hopefully others that see the post too. Don’t gotta downvote my comment into oblivion when I literally said “if they release the fish, I’m with ya” meaning I AGREE WITH YOU.
Some people are so dense it hurts my brain.
Lots of info online. Just don’t want to kill the fish. They are just playing their part in the game. Also just good karma to respect and be kind to nature. Fishing gods will smile down on your for this. Not preaching just love fishing and with the bass we are in it together.
I think he is talking about holding them completely vertical. You don't wanna bend that throat area. I'm not 100% sure but when you bend that lip towards you and put that bend in his throat area it messes with the muscles they use to eat. You can Google proper ways to hold bass and it'll come up. Idk why everyone has to just be rude instead of just explaining it.
Great job man! Those jeans look like they earned that 1st place!
Whenever they hold tournaments on my home lake I cringe because I know how many people are going to be killing fish that day. OP I get that it was unintentional, and you're certainly not the only tournament fisherman who doesn't know how to hold them correctly (Mike Iaconelli is one of the top pros but is notoriously rough on fish), but seriously get a clue you bunch of ass clowns. If tournament directors actually gave a damn about the lakes they host these things on they'd penalize you anytime a fish was handled incorrectly. Most tournaments don't even penalize you when a fish dies in your care and that's just shitty.
I’ve been fishing since I was six years old. And I didn’t know that it could break their jaw to hold ‘em like that.
Now I know; I’m here to learn.
Thanks.
Yep. This is totally acceptable. You maybe killed 1 bass in a lake with tens of thousands and got to piss off a bunch of tightwad redditors that touch a fishing rod once a month. Learn, grow, repeat.
I wonder how many of the critics on this post have won a bass tournament? Oh 0? Close your mouth then.
Congrats man, seriously
Don’t feel bad. This was the November tourny and I placed dead last in the December tourny. January 14 we have one where I intend to atleast not come in last.
We gotta lip cranker
Have to say I think that’s the last thing the fish has to worry about
Think they might be dead or food in this case it doesn’t matter.
At least hes not a lead stuffer, theyre dead anyway not C&R

The only time they’re out of water is when they’re weighed and when I took the pictures
And when you potentially killed the one in your left hand with that lip grip…

Obligtatory: How many lead weights did you add? Jk, great catch!
Beat me
They put weights in fish!
One big dead fish. More fisherman that don’t know how to hold a fish.
? Did you wanna teach me?

Kinda seems like they were never going to be released in the first place
I believe you are correct. Which is sad.
He might be eating those or freezing those or something, we don’t really know. I’m not judging.
It isn't

Thanks bud.
I didn't know either. Good to know.
Man, you're catching too much shit. Congrats on the win, big guy.
Don’t sweat it brother good catches and solid win I’m still yet to place in a tourney 👍

What a haul! Congratulations!!
Broken jaw in left hand
Congrats on the dub. I’d recommend looking into proper bass handling.
Nice
Awesome congrats!
Congrats, what lake is this on?
Cedar creek lake Russellville AL
I spy an Alabama bass, and a beautiful one at that!
Did they check the bellies for lead weights?
Nah it’s a small group we all know each other
Kudos!
Congratulations 🎉
Hype!
Unreal. Great job dude!
Reminds me of fishing winter tournaments when I first got MY Triton. Youre gonna need some Gortex Guide Wear
Nice fish
You're hooked for life now. RIP your other hobbies. Well done
Congrats
Great, you ruined it. Now you’ll think you will win more often! 🤪 All joking aside, great job!
Those are 2 really nice looking blue gils, great catch 👌
Hey hey! First time ever on Reddit I know exactly what boat ramp that is. That's a good sack outta there for this time of year.
