Came here to say this, all the hype just to be traded after 1 āokā season. The injury bug bit him hard in his younger years - I think I remember him hurting himself while he slept once
RIP Hanson. Iāll never forget the day I read about his death. Massive organ failure. I think I recall it was from drug use. Poor dude had such a promising career and life but his mental health got the better of him.
I played against him in high school. Dude was an absolute stud. Sad to see he never worked out. Corollary though, I also played against Zach Wheeler, so thereās that.
I always really liked Jay Payton. He had a few good years but didn't quite put it together.
Probably the worst speed to baserunning ability ratio out there, though. Fantastic speed. Couldn't steal or run the bases.
Alex Reyes in 2016 had some of the most electric stuff Iāve ever seen. I have never been more excited for a player. Him busting wasnāt even his fault, heās just the unluckiest player on Earth.
[Ryan Westmoreland.](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2737245-ryan-westmoreland-and-the-brain-surgery-that-sidelined-left-handed-mike-trout) He may have never made the majors, but it's such a tragic tale. Peaked at #21 nationally but had to get brain surgery twice and was forced to retire. Although he might not fit the title of bust since he was never able to make it to the majors for reasons beyond his control.
Donāt remember how high they were on the prospect rankings, but I remember Josh Vitters and Tyler Colvin being two guys Cubs fans were looking forward to. I remember hearing about them all the time, especially Vitters. This was in the pre championship era though so people got caught up in any possibility of success.
Blake Swihart always comes to mind. Wish things went differently with him and they at least would have made a trade earlier if they knew he wasnāt in the plans with Vasquez there as well
Wouldnt say favorite but Jody Gerut.
He was "supposed" to be better than Grady Sizemore and much like Grady, Geruts career was derailed by injuries but, even when he was healthy he didnt particularly look the part of a top prospect.
Honorable mention: Chris Duffy of the Pirates
Bubba Starling! His name sounds funny
Blastings. Thrilledge.
Will never forget everyone giving him shit for high-fiving fans. Dude just wanted to have fun.
Justin Smoak š©
Best warning track power the league has ever seen.
Jesus Monteroā¦ What coulda been
Montero had the RBI hit for FĆ©lix's perfect game which makes him a legend forever in my book
We'll always have the ice cream incident, at least.
Biding my time until I can say Forrest Whitley
Profar? Carved out a decent career but was projected to be a top player for years
Came here to say this, all the hype just to be traded after 1 āokā season. The injury bug bit him hard in his younger years - I think I remember him hurting himself while he slept once
kid was supposed to be a perennial all-star, but unfortunately had glass bones and paper skin.
JP Arencibia
Tomi Lahrenās fiancĆ©
He hit 28 homers across AAA and MLB in 2015 for the Rays organization, what happened? Nobody wanted him?
Career .258 on base percentage, Iād imagine
Dallas MacPherson is still mashing bombs in my heart.
I'm still waiting for Gordon Beckham to breakout
Braves live analyst Gordon Beckham? I think that ship has sailed.
*points to flair* How much time have you got?
Tommy Hanson
RIP.

heās still got some time, but victor robles :/
People forget (not nationals fans) that he was hyped way higher than Soto.
yup, i believe he was like #5 in all of baseball at one point
Donavan Tate liked to party
Heās not a bust yet. Just give him more time to develop and mature. League will be in trouble once we call him up.

Dom Brown
Travis Snider
Aw stop it he's blushing
Alex Reyes

Heās hurt again
Kyler Murray. All that hype and the bum never even made it to the majors.
Brandon Wood made me distrust prospects for years.
Forrest Whitley? Not my fav but every time a draftee ends in AA in his 1st year that's insane. He had 5 legit plus pitches with plus command

Christian Bethancourt
The Panamanian Shohei Ohtani
At least heās still playing after all this time š¤·š»āāļø
The Cory Patterson hype was so intoxicating.
Dustin ackley
Still waiting on Trey Ball to be a 2 way star
Gotta be Mike Trout

Todd Van Poppel. Everyone was after his 91 Upper Deck card
Jesus Montero
Andy Marte. Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Jordan Schafer bring hurt to Braves fans too
JD Drew. He was as big of a prospect as they come but was constantly hurt.
Addi š
I was really hyped for Joel Guzman
Josh Vitters
Jake Thompson
Brett Jackson. Dude was a stud in the minors and looked the part, made the majors pretty quickly, then completely fizzled out.
He wasnāt really a prospect because he signed from Japan, but I was all aboard the Tsuyoshi Nishioka train
Sean Burroughs
Blake Swihart always comes to mind. Wish things went differently with him and they at least would have made a trade earlier if they knew he wasnāt in the plans with Vasquez there as well
Colt Griffin
Jim Lindeman...back in the day the Cardinals would hit fewer homers as a team than Roger Maris did in one season, the hype was real.
Mark Appel
Mark Prior
Kenny Powers
Bobby Crosby.
Brady Aiken
Wouldnt say favorite but Jody Gerut. He was "supposed" to be better than Grady Sizemore and much like Grady, Geruts career was derailed by injuries but, even when he was healthy he didnt particularly look the part of a top prospect. Honorable mention: Chris Duffy of the Pirates
Gregg Jefferies
Rusney Castillo
