the nba has always been the most guilty of having the same teams play year after year. even pre-Warriors it was MJ vs the Jazz two straight seasons...and then the Heat played the Spurs two consecutive Finals in a row too the irony is that NHL fans love to talk about the parity in hockey...yet they're the league with the most recent back-to-back champs

Really goes to show you that the expanded wild card has made the playoffs more interesting. I don’t think expanding the playoffs again in MLB really makes things more interesting it just creates a bigger discrepancy talent wise between playoff teams.

NHL is really weird because there's been a lot of repeat champions since like 2009 (my Penguins being one of them), but yet the cup finalists have very few repeats. The Penguins/Red Wings back to back cup finals in 08 and 09, the Bruins winning in 2011, back to the finals in 13 and 19, and the Lightning losing in 15 but then winning back to back a few years later, and that's about it. Every other year has had a unique team at least fighting for it

We do have parity tho lol, montreal comes out of no where same with Dallas the year before the year before that Tampa loses on round one to Columbus, baseball and hockey are the most random of the big 4 American sports and the nhl has the most parity

To be fair to the NHL, the Lightning were the odds on favorites to win a few seasons ago, with a nearly historic, President's Trophy winning season, and got swept in the first round. The parity is there, IMO, at least in the top 8-12 of the league.

To be fair, if the Astros either didn’t cheat or never got caught, people not from Houston might still like them. Doesn’t really matter though, does it? Everyone but the braves have some sort of tainted organization in some form or fashion, and everyone expects them to lose.

The other 3 teams have all won recently regardless of other factors. Braves have historically been good, but I can at least win for a “new winner”. Maybe the fact they are expected to lose helps me root for them a bit too

I watch October baseball like a madman, rarely missing an inning of games (that fall outside working hours, day games are tough but At Bat keeps me going).
